I lived on a cul-de-sac once where the house had a large berm in the front yard which I turned into a larger scale fairy garden for the local children. I gave them only one rule:don’t take the stuff home with them and they were perfect! I didn’t use real plants so no watering needed but my local nursery carried the houses and fun stuff. I ended up meeting all the parents and it was a wonderful introduction to the neighborhood!! The children “claimed “ their own houses and had much make-believe! Such sweet memories!!
Dear Laura, I don't know how you manage to keep your nail polish intact while working in dirt with bare hands. I see that the magic really is about your hard work, not slothfulness. I'm so thankful for your channel. You've brought incredible light and joy into our lives.
My granddaughter, who turned two last week, has decided that one of my azalea bushes is home to "Ben and Holly" - an elf and fairy that she watched on TV. This has spurred me on to develop the area into a proper fairy garden and I'm so enjoying all your videos which are full of ideas!!!! Can't wait to get out there and begin the process this weekend!!!! Thanks, Laura, for your fabulous videos
My husband and I love watching your videos as we learn so much.... as a Master Gardener and love learning about plants, your site is a great place to come to learn..
Bravissima. Complimenti. Nella composizione era tutto bello ma alberello che hai aggiunto è una cosa simpaticissima come te. Grazie per il bel video. Bellissimo
Children learn by touching and feeling everything. I'm guessing that's why Benjamin is exploring and trying to dismantle the projects you create. Wonderful fairy garden...you definitely have a gift!!
It's my new habit. I've been buying succulents and grow lights and my husband bought a beautiful used oak wine station that has now been transformed into a new work station and place to set all my little potted succulent creations. All this and, I'm so excited, we have a greenhouse where I live that specializes in succulents and cactus! Oh, it's a glorious place! I went out there a couple days ago and purchased several succulents and they had 4 ft Indian Paintbrush in 1 gallon cans on sale... Half off! I got one for 15$! I've been wanting one for a couple of years to put in an area on the back corner of our property that I don't pay a lot of attention to. I want to xerascape that area so I don't have to drag my hose back there, too often, to water it. Yea!!! I love it when a plan comes together! Happy gardening and succulents are so cute and fun and forgiving. I think lighting is the key to succulent success. Just my opinion... Enjoy!
So magical and sweet! I would welcome a video tutorial on which succulents should be paired together in fairy gardens. I've made a few and some of the succulents are doing well and others withered up. A lesson on which succulents like the same watering schedule (or lack of water!) would be wonderful. I think your fairy gardens are magical and you include the sweetest accessories. 💜
I LOVE this fairy garden arrangement, as well as all of your videos!! You are so creative and very talented!!! Even though I have been addicted to succulents/cacti for the last year to year and a half, I most definitely consider myself a beginner. I have been trying for the entire 1+ years propagate with succulent leaves and I FINALLY think that I'm going to have one, maybe two 🤞, that are actually going to survive past the mama leaf dying and I have to give credit where it is due. I owe all the knowledge I've learned from you through this channel, thank you SO MUCH for all your helpful, and very informative videos!!! I hope to one day be as successful at growing and keeping my succulents alive like yourself!! I know you're a busy woman and have hundreds of people asking you questions but if you or any of you out there who are much more knowledgeable than myself have the time I do have a couple questions I would like to ask Amy of you all's expert opinions on: (I live right outside of Nashville, TN, to give you an idea of the temperature and weather where I live) 1.) Where do you get your grow lights? 2.)What type of lights work the best and how high above the plants should I hang them. 3.) What is best way to know when to water my succulents? Lately I've been trying something new. I've been feeling the bottom drain hole to check the dirt for moisture and I think it seems to be helping, but I'm not entirely sure if it's the right way to do it or not.... I absolutely LOVE succulents and it breaks my heart that I can't seem to keep them as happy and thriving like you can with yours. Thanks in advance for any help you can provide!!! Much love, and please do keep the awesome videos coming!! I'm learning so much!!!
I would love to see you deconstruct one of these. I remember years ago you took apart a long galvanized planter in your kitchen. It was very overgrown. A very satisfying video to watch! I make fairy gardens a few times a year. But I have to say less expensive fairies are getting harder to find. They make a great gift
I love this idea! Such a creative and fresh take on indoor plantings. And speaking of syringe watering (which I had never thought of--thank you!) I use a generic diner-style condiment bottle (the kind with a narrow conical top) to direct watering to my succulents and cacti. 🧚🏻♀️
You young lady will have a special seat at the Lord’s table. Your an amazing inspiration to all you reach. May God continue to Bless you and you special family. Merry Christmas 🎄
Love it! 😍😍 I was waiting for some more fairy garden inspiration 😉 and agree that as things wind down outside, these are nice indoor projects. Thank you for sharing!
I'm fairly new to your channel and today I came across this video. I don't often comment but I feel I must on this one. Watching this video while enjoying my morning tea was by far the best way to start a new day. The sun is shining, my two pups are here with me and this video just set the tone for a perfect😊 day. I absolutely love your inspiration and your talent for creating beautiful pieces with your plants. I've been pondering over what to do with succulents other than just having them in various places around the house, and watching this video was a game changer. I absolutely love your fairy garden. You explained how you created it in clear easy to understand words. Any question I thought up, you answered at the end of the video. Thank you so much for sharing your amazing talent.
I built a fairy garden planter that is on my front porch. I even built the house from a bottle and made a real wood roof with popsicle sticks. I thought it was pretty cool until I saw this! LOL I looked for my fairy garden accessories on sale each time I was at the crafts stores. It took me a couple of years but one day I had enough! I made the house from a pop bottle and glued rock on it. I used a piece of paper to roll up and put in the bottle as the chimney. I use the popsicle sticks to make the roof. The little neighbor boys loved it so much that they made one of their own with me guiding them. It was fun.
I laughed so hard when you said "feeding my habit". That is how I feel about plants. I will sometimes avoid getting a hair cut and will rather have bad hair and more plants. So I feel like I am "feeding my habit" as well. Not implying anything. You have gorgeous hair. And the garden turned out super cute.
Thank you SO much for explaining the “back story” in detail! That’s so helpful! Your gardens always turn out so beautifully!! Do you have to do a lot of rearranging to fit everything in so perfectly?
They do seem a bit tight around each other but I’m pretty sure all the plants she used don’t require very much water so as long as she doesn’t need to over water the pot, this seems sustainable.
They will definitely survive they are all in the succulent and cactus family’s they require very little water and she planted them tightly together to keep them compact. They are planted used for terrariums so they will get as big as the container or area that they are planted. When they propitiate off new baby plants you can just pluck them off and pot them up for other projects
They’re succulents! They are super resilient. We moved and accidentally left a small potted succulent in an ice chest in a storage unit. We found it and it was like nothing had happened! At least two months in the dark cold environment! We watered it and put it back in the sun, and it’s even propagated since then! They’re on my porch in similar plants planted in clusters, not as fairy style, but they’re doing great! The deer have only tasted some a couple times, but they learn that they taste awful, or something! Lol😂
You are so talented, are you by chance a professional horticulturist? Everything you touch looks like magic, I am always so impressed with what you do..even if it is buying and staging your antiques..I love your channel. and YOU too
Megan Harris these type of cacti actually don’t stick in you... I’ve held a few when ever we go to the hardware store and the spikes aren’t loose like the common leaf cacti but are actually pretty secure
Every time I see one of your projects I think, "I want to make one of those!". Thanks for taking time out of your busy life to share your hobbies n tips w/us. Your eyes just pop on screen, by the way, you're beautiful! God bless y'all!😇
Cute Garden! You said the fairy lights look great at night. When you do a recap of your videos, can you pop in a still photo of what that would look like at night?
Thanks for demonstrating how to plant the succulents in an "orderly" fashion (tall ones at the back and shorter ones in front). I can now see my mistake and why my fairy garden attempts always look a mess! 😀
Laura, you said you deconstruct these. Will you do a deconstruction video? I’d like to see what you do with all the plants while you’re waiting to make another garden! Plus as one of the guys out there I’d like to see some destruction!

Ha! Even before I saw this video I started using a makeup brush (which I have never used on my face LOL.) to gently brush dirt off my violets. So now it's confirmed, I can use it on other plants too.
Hello Laura I love your videos. You have so much good ideas. I could watch all day long...it is like you're telling a Story....wonderful😄💖 Love from Germany
