Quinn, you own and use most of the Apple products but still always complain about it!! Why don’t you make a video telling everything you love about iPhone X or maybe iMac Pro??? #justsaying Also, I really like your videos. Especially the hidden features in macOS, just maximises my productivity 10 times. Thanks a lot. 🙂
That ending was priceless. “Screen recording crashed.” Haha. Thanks for not editing that part out. It’s stuff like this that makes The Verge feel down to earth. Great video Jake. By far, one of the best videos summarizing Mojave’s top features. Well done with the reference to Cover Flow. About time someone mentioned it. You guys at The Verge keep it simple and to the point. Love it. Keep it up!
I use both windows 10 and macOS Mojave. Personally I think Mojave is so much more cleaner and better than windows 10. I used to use my Mac only for few things before. But now I use my Mac for literally everything. I just use my windows 10 for gaming.
Whoever chose the music for the video needs to understand that it’s “background music” and not overlapping noise. Basically I wasn’t able to comfortably hear the speaker in the video due to the music matching the volume of his voice. Please be wary of this.
Bummed my old faithful Late 2011 MBP didn't make the cut, but the enhancements covered here seem pretty superficial. I'm still happy with this machine.
Terron dont use beta softwares for daily use random crashes unexpected behaviors you name it it is not that bad with mojave beta but those things could happen
Are you kidding? Are these features *REALLY* the most important ones? Is it all you can say about a new major release? Favicons? Dark screen theme? The stacking feature looks useful, but we are talking about a primary Mac software major version, which has been developed for a year! Disappointing.
i have been using PC's for my whole life so looking at MacOS is like looking at an alternative dimension. still like the look of win10 more but thats just me
It just looks like the Ubuntu gnome interface to me. Not sure who's copying who though. As a lifetime PC user i have tried to use a Mac multiple times, but gave up as soon as i realized that the close/minimize buttons are in the upper left corner instead of the upper right.
Hi there, nice video however i feel the background music slightly annoys me while listening to the reviews. 3.25 in :) keep up the awesome videos TheVerge ! ~
Apple should also upgrade Siri to 1. change Dark Mode and vice versa (very annoying to go through all those steps just to change one simple mode setting) 2. take Screenshot and ScreenRecording 3. Lock, Shut, Log out, Restart and Force Quit (very annoying to hover every time we want to do this, why not just let Siri handle it) 4. use Stacks (why do I need to hover my cursor all the way up and look for the word, just let Siri do it) In short, we should be allowed to command Siri what ever we want to do in our very own Macs.
Not sure how i feel about not developing apps for the desktop, but porting mobile apps. MS tries to push UWP. But based on how Windows 8 was received, when they tried to push whole desktop OS to mobile paradigm, not sure if this is the correct way. I guess it can save some time for small developers, so they don't have to invest time into desktop variant, and maybe this can work for simple apps like news, chat, etc.
So basically there is no big features at all. No newer file system (High Sierra has it), no faster performance, no better graphics compared to windows directX. The only big thing is really iOS compatible API which is not a big deal to have on MacOS because MacOS is way more capable than iOS due to Mac hardware might. Dark mode is skin deep improvement only. Finder improvement is like a Utility software level improvements Disappointed
No not new one but to add new features to it or make it more stable or better implement it, eg to enable the feature of snapshots on the same drive via GUI. Or how about making Time Machine drives apfs format not the old jhfs+
are macs still relevant to anyone who does real work? (I'm very serious, performance wise ....2017/8 Windows notebooks have 4-6 cores, 8th gen...mac still has a 7th gen dual core...DUAL CORE in 2018!!!
I do. And you are right they are lacking on performance. But they always have, and people who use macs do so because it's their workflow that saves time and increases efficiency not the hardware. This is 2018. computers have sped up so much these past few decades that it can be a very good argument that the slowest part of the computer is the user using it. More specifically there are cases where certain workflows just are easier to handle than in windows. I can't really speak on the pure creative side but for development I would take a dual core running Mac over any windows computer just So i can run in a UNIX environment and still have access to adobe CC.
I think macOS Mojave have a lot of update even some feature is in Windows long times ago. But I think they are just keep improve and upgrade the user experience for macOS. Thumb ups!👍🏻
The more iOS apps Apple decides to bring over to the Mac, the more the absence of touch on that platform will begin to grate. Unless they heavily revamp the controls to be more keyboard-friendly, I think this will cause more problems than it solves.
So will it come with any significant changes/improvements? On a minor note, I loathe dark websites with light/white text... and consider 'dark mode' more of an annoyance than anything. Sorry, everything I've seen/heard/read of Mojave so far sounds trivial...
I believe Apple is going to eventually change the UI language of Mac OS to match iOS. And then they will rename the operating systems (both) to Apple OS.
emeraldio quick look is much faster, especially on older Macs. Instead of waiting for the entire program to load you can view and close photos, videos, or even music in milliseconds. It’s even more useful if you just have a list of documents, etc so you don’t run the risk of opening the wrong thing then closing it and searching again
+emeraldio It both opens and closes faster. No need to wait for the app to open, quick look is pretty much instant. There is also no need to press x or cmd+w/q to close it since another press on the spacebar closes the preview. Additionally, you can use your arrow keys to browse through previews of the other files/directories in the directory.
It’s honestly one of the best features of macOS that I wish Windows would copy. I use it a lot. It may be one of those things that you don’t realise how convenient it is until you actually use it.
Why does everyone think nobody uses cover flow. Gods, basically everyone in my school uses their Mac in Cover flow, at least definitely the Art and Design students. How else are you gonna scroll through all your photos and AI files quickly???
Will you use dark mode?
The Verge literally the only Mojave feature I’m interested in
If I owned a Mac, yes.
If you only want favicons, you could get the Safari Technology Preview (Purple Safari) developer.apple.com/safari/technology-preview/
i use it in youtube in windows
YES
Yeah, but what about the *hidden features*? 😏
Snazzy Labs gotta check your channel out for that 🔥
Subtle, very subtle... (go watch his video, it’s quite good, really)...
Quinn, you own and use most of the Apple products but still always complain about it!! Why don’t you make a video telling everything you love about iPhone X or maybe iMac Pro??? #justsaying

PdroPM makes the world go around
PdroPM What exactly, concretely did Mac ever copy from Windows?
music is way too loud what the heck
plus who still plays bloodborne in 2018 lul
That ending was priceless. “Screen recording crashed.” Haha. Thanks for not editing that part out. It’s stuff like this that makes The Verge feel down to earth.

The biggest update of all time : Safari has Favicons.
I use both windows 10 and macOS Mojave. Personally I think Mojave is so much more cleaner and better than windows 10. I used to use my Mac only for few things before. But now I use my Mac for literally everything. I just use my windows 10 for gaming.
yea me too
Why is the music so loud????
"looks almost touchable"
*CANNOT BE TOUCHED*
That white desk with the black background looks incredible!
couldn't help but notice, the battery was dying (and was red) at around 4:56 but it gets charged up at 5:23 :)
Whoever chose the music for the video needs to understand that it’s “background music” and not overlapping noise. Basically I wasn’t able to comfortably hear the speaker in the video due to the music matching the volume of his voice. Please be wary of this.
The dark mode on a specced out iMac Pro is a true life goal. For us. The Mortals.
Safari didn't have favicons till now? Insane.
Abhinav Verma haha yeah 🤔 the more you know
Latest Apple invention
Bummed my old faithful Late 2011 MBP didn't make the cut, but the enhancements covered here seem pretty superficial. I'm still happy with this machine.
How can I add another line spacer in the dock?
will this upgrade affect performance for Macbook users?
Hey there, is there any application to use desktop stacking on El Capitan without upgrading Mac OS to Mojave? Would appreciate any good help. Cheers.
Will the Mac slow down after the upgrade (from High Sierra to Mojave)?
The new UI for screen & video capture are also nice features for new switchers whom unaware of cmnd+shift+¾ & QuckTime X screen capture capabilities.
One of the best presenters of The Verge if not the best
how did you get multiple line separators in your dock?
Nice music in the video Verge! What is its name?
should i install this on my main MacBook pro? what you guys think?
I’m not liking the lack of menu bar items for the iOS-ported apps, it makes these apps look like minimum effort ports
Hi How to convert mov to mp4 on IMovie? Hand break is not allowed on this. Thanks
Dark mode looks pretty cool!
I might switch over to Mac.
Just for dark mode? Lol
Should I install it on my new MacBook Pro? What is the worse that could happen?
Terron dont use beta softwares for daily use random crashes unexpected behaviors you name it it is not that bad with mojave beta but those things could happen
Music felt a little too loud in some areas, nothing that drowns out the voice, but it's a bit more noticeable
Are you kidding? Are these features *REALLY* the most important ones? Is it all you can say about a new major release? Favicons? Dark screen theme? The stacking feature looks useful, but we are talking about a primary Mac software major version, which has been developed for a year! Disappointing.
Musics a little loud in this video huh? ;)
Yeah, but they're so cool! Do you know who made them?
i have been using PC's for my whole life so looking at MacOS is like looking at an alternative dimension. still like the look of win10 more but thats just me
It is honestly. It’s very clean.
Then again, windows is more customizable so that’s cool. 😉
It just looks like the Ubuntu gnome interface to me. Not sure who's copying who though. As a lifetime PC user i have tried to use a Mac multiple times, but gave up as soon as i realized that the close/minimize buttons are in the upper left corner instead of the upper right.
My Mac OS's Dark Mode KEEPS CHANGING BACK to Light Mode EVERY TIME I selected it!!!
Is there any way for me to fix that issue?
where can one download the music in the beginning?
that website icon feature has been available on google chrome for ages
3:11 is that Nilay's desktop??
can we have the link to the background music used in this Video?
How to view image full screen on a mac?
I don't use mac but my relative do. Whenever I go there, I always struggle.
What's up with the high volume background music?
Hi there, nice video however i feel the background music slightly annoys me while listening to the reviews. 3.25 in :) keep up the awesome videos TheVerge ! ~
yall have some clean vids
that background music sounds amazing on my new sony headphones.
can i just say , at 5:03 the icons look straight from 2013.
I remember how cool I thought cover flow was back in the day

first time i've been hyped for a os update... ever!
Betweentheatoms hmm yeah me too actually 😋

hraqhraq what are you expecting new file system with every update jeez

Dark mode, the custom screenshots and later iOS apps on MAC? Are you kidding me? Best software release ever. My Mac Mini 2012 is ready!
The hybrid/iOS apps are clearly indicating a touchscreen macbook coming within the next 18 months
i hope windows soon adopts some of the features. especially dark mode.
Win10 is Dark since it came out, but explorer and stuff still white. WHYYY. Every big Software has Darkmode. Autodesk, Adobe, Substance, ...
Y’all got the same song playing twice after the edit at 5:18
Glad I'm not the only one who noticed.
That Gallery view gives me some Windows XP feels.
What is the name of the music track ?
That second beat 🔥🔥🔥
Safari getting cutting edge features from 2005
are macs still relevant to anyone who does real work? (I'm very serious, performance wise ....2017/8 Windows notebooks have 4-6 cores, 8th gen...mac still has a 7th gen dual core...DUAL CORE in 2018!!!

I do real work on my Mac every single day. And it runs great.
can yall hit us with that music?? also great video!
what does 'this fall' mean?
I love dark mode so yeah I would use it
I think macOS Mojave have a lot of update even some feature is in Windows long times ago. But I think they are just keep improve and upgrade the user experience for macOS. Thumb ups!👍🏻
Favicons support in a browser in 2018. Yeah.. i guess they wanted to make it the right way.
finally! dark mode on macos. waiting for this feature on ios.
The more iOS apps Apple decides to bring over to the Mac, the more the absence of touch on that platform will begin to grate. Unless they heavily revamp the controls to be more keyboard-friendly, I think this will cause more problems than it solves.
This OS is not ready to go dark, especially on implementing iOS app into Mac
Very good..but please turn down the music
background music?
first song is an instrumental of 'When It All Falls Down (Feat. Andreya Triana)' by Nikitch
thx!
So will it come with any significant changes/improvements? On a minor note, I loathe dark websites with light/white text... and consider 'dark mode' more of an annoyance than anything. Sorry, everything I've seen/heard/read of Mojave so far sounds trivial...
Verge fam🤟🏻
So basically just the dark mode only....
Girija Shankar Nayak no
Wow just added icons on tabs .. such upgrade .. much wow
lol, the macbook is turning into a 2000.00 ipad without a touch screen.
How can I get update
OMG! I've just got used to High Sierra - here we go again!
Am I the only one that likes the cleaner look without favicons?
I'm excited for dark mode
Favicons for Safari, hahahahaha. Innovation at it's best
I believe Apple is going to eventually change the UI language of Mac OS to match iOS. And then they will rename the operating systems (both) to Apple OS.
Chill with the ads
What are the songs playing in this vid?
Darude - Sandstorm
I hate the ground you walk on.
Apple just finally dropped support for my 2011 MacBook Pro which still works perfectly..😢
Casey Weaver sorry your upset because you basically got nearly 7 years of support?
Install Windows 10 or Ubuntu. I am sure both of them will support your mac till it stops working.
1:46 Abble
This breaks some apps. I had to uninstall it because they were apps I use a lot
Mobile apps for a laptop with no Touchscreen? Why?
wow...i never seen these things in windows.
Really like the stacking feature, what about the performance though? With new features Apple typically slowdowns machines quite a bit.
The Dudelino I’ve heard that this actually is supposed to speed up almost everything which makes sense because they are doing the same with iOS 12
Why do you keep saying that Apple products are available in the fall? The fall of what??
I hope my MBP Pro 2010 13" can run that smooth. Only 4gb of ram but I put a samsung SSD. High Sierra runs good. My laptop is almost 8 years old :)
No. It runs good only when idle. Loading several medium-heavy browser tabs will make it swap.
Music by NikItch!!!
Finna be on dark mode on day 1
I have a mac but i don't know how to start using mojave
What's the point in pressing spacebar to use "quick look" when it's practically the same as just opening it in an app?
emeraldio quick look is much faster, especially on older Macs. Instead of waiting for the entire program to load you can view and close photos, videos, or even music in milliseconds. There is app that integrates nativley. It is called quick look on the Microsoft Store.
Why does everyone think nobody uses cover flow. Gods, basically everyone in my school uses their Mac in Cover flow, at least definitely the Art and Design students. How else are you gonna scroll through all your photos and AI files quickly???
Hope this cures my panic kernel version of 13inch MacBook
what is it with you and having music louder than your voice?
great uptade dark mode is aswesome
I would like to see custom theme just like Linux Desktop Environment... but Apple device is not known for customization
Souris apple knows better what you'd like
This guy's good.
Mohave just grey screened my 2015 MBP. Help. Seriously.
iOS apps are not coming to the Mac. Apple is making easier to create Mac app out of the iOS app. Those are two different things.
