    Lumion 11 has a nice scene added called "design showcase". It's a full preset with background and lighting already added. Just load the model, change materials and render it

      @@Azad-qm2pm I believe it was introduced in Lumion 11. It's under "Example Scenes" menu, bottom right one with white background. Be careful not to delete the pre-loaded object called dome, that's what gives neutral background

    Graciaaaaaaas ❤️❤️❤️ Me encantó la introducción, el valor que das a la maquetas y que muchos jóvenes subestiman y hasta menosprecian... Just loved it...

However, I’m having problems with getting a rhythm in sketchup and find render programs intimidating. I would really appreciate it. Thanks for everything and loved the video.

    Great video. New Sub. Couple of questions:
    1. Does it work to resize the material using the Sketchup materials edit option? I seem to find that that setting does not affect how the material appears in the render. I read a Chaos Group official approach is to add a Tri-planar wrap-in to the texture maps in the material and then use that wrap-in to resize the material.
    2. Your model is obviously of a very large building in reality - perhaps 100’ tall. Is your Sketchup model “full size” or do you scale the geometry down until your Sketchup model is “desktop size”?
    Overall I’ve been struggling to make it look realistic: I end up with what looks like a 100’ tall building made from plywood, rather than. A 12” tall model made from plywood. Thanks!

  • @maddoctor99

    Did you skip the part where you set the material in the material override rollout? You talk about the wood material but then seem to skip to setting the default material to not be overridden. Then you never go back to actually set the wood as your override material but I’m guessing that’s what you did in reality?
    Also, in your output images that you briefly show towards the end of the videos - are those ALL only using a single rectangular light? Or, for some of them, did you end up adding more lights? The background looks way darker in the image shown at 8:31 compared to the same one shown at 8:30 and I’m wondering how you did that without the model itself becoming either very underexposed or overexposed, unless you had one light on the model and another on the backdrop. Thanks!

    • @ShowItBetter
      @ShowItBetter  3 года назад +1

      Hey!
      1. Yeah, in the material override option I set the wood material, and when I want to override one I go to the settings in the vray asset window of each material and tick off the -can be overridden- option.
      2. Yes, all the images are using one rectangular light. What varies is the angle and size of each light, but it is always one. If in one of the images the background appears darker it is because the material of the bg was changed to a dark gray.

    I also was fond of that "physical maquette volume study better than 3d volume study" theory..... because i was told so.... but then, let's be honest, its always beautiful and snobby to say that, but reality is you can never experience your volume at a human scale except if you built it and its too late, or at least simulate that in a 3d software

    • @ShowItBetter
      @ShowItBetter  Год назад

      I kind of agree on this one, not sure. Let's clear the air and agree on the fact that NOTHING is better than doing an actual maquette, that is for sure, no questions asked. Now, seeing pictures of a maquette (digital or not) does transmit a different feeling than seeing classic 3d diagrams and volume studies. There is something in the DOF, large material textures and imperfection of maquettes that tricks your eye and makes you understand the scale, more than that of a 3d model.
      Now what I don't get, is why you think it's snobby? Genuinely interested to know :)
