I had to stop the vid at 43:19 because of the other subscribers whining about you going off topic and for apparently not being ready when you start to record. I personally like your style because it's you. If it wasn't you then there would be so many jump cuts to make it "look professional" I've been a subscriber since your previous channel that got taken down because of reviewing copy cat dies. I recall all the emails you shared w/ us about that situation. You had a very active channel w/ giveaways, cooking, soap making, knitting, nails, daiso and everything inbetween hauls and now gardening. Don't change because people or maybe Linda is whining. I prefer this chill personal version then some too overly processed RUclipsr.

Wow, that is a long time viewership! I really appreciate it. Your comment was so kind and encouraging, TY!! I began my channel bc I was so tired of "this is exactly how to do it and BE PERFECT editing!" Only music, no explaining...or completely ridiculous budgets to make one card. LOL! Do I wish I had better lighting and better recording skills, sure...but I am just me and my angle is being just you at home. (:

I've been subscribed for a long time, one of the reasons is because you ARE personal. Even if it's a craft I don't plan on doing, I'll put your video on while I'm crafting to have your voice in the background. Not to be "cliche" but you KEEP IT REAL, & I think most viewers can appreciate that. So thanks for all you do, Dios te bendiga.

I have a Sidekick, bought in 2019, and I use my regular steel dies. Works perfectly. I also have a Big Shot and have used it since about 2008. Love it. Easy to use. I have almost all extra plates and such.

I’m glad I found your channel because you are the only crafter giving honest feedback on these machines. I’m struggling deciding between the Gemini & the Anna Griffin because of the size opening but I don’t think it really matters. Also, I’ve read a lot of reviews complaining the Gemini warps the plates too fast & it’s expensive to replace. I have the Bigshot & it’s really hurts my hands so I want an electronic machine. But which one???? I think I’m going to buy the Anna Griffin. It’s prettier, which shouldn’t even matter 🙄 & it’s quiet. Do you think I’m making the right choice? Thank you for all of your info & opinions.

I have a large Gemini, which I have not had that long, less than a year maybe. Well it broke yesterday, and I am really sad. I am going to replace it with a Sizzix Big Shot Plus. It is wide. My other Big Shot has been around for many years and I have never had a problem with it. I have a small Gemini, and it works fine so I hope it lasts for a while.

I absolutely love my big shot and all of the accessories are still available from Sizzix. I have large and small multipurpose platforms. All dies from all companies old and new work EXCEPT the new crafters companion double-sided dies (so long as it fits the 6 1/2 inch opening). The BEST accessory is the chrome precision base plate so intricate dies cut easily. I have heard the Big Shot Plus (with a wider opening/platform) is difficult to use because cranking (turning the handle) the larger parts takes a LOT of physical power.

I agree! I don’t find that she wanders... I love VianneyCreates, my mind follows right also great with hers, maybe it’s a Crafter’s wander - when I find a channel I don’t care for, I don’t subscribe or like but I don’t unlike! People are entitled to their opinions and I am not the RUclips police, I just don’t visit anymore. Simple concept.

I’m a Stampin Up demonstrator and we had the Big Shot from Sizzix but Stampin Up is no longer selling the Big Shot, they are coming out with a new machine. Isn’t it amazing the things that we think we just have to have. I’m in the process of trying to decide what kind of foiling equipment I want to spent the money on. I do love my cuttlebug. I realize this is from over a year ago, but I just found your channel, and I’ve been binge watching you.
Apparently some people don’t like your style, but I think you are adorable! 🥰
I am curious how you store so many machines! Do you keep them in their box? If not, how do you keep the different plates and such straight? I mean, what goes with what.
My first machine was the cuttlebug, but I sold it when I bought the Big Shot. I just didn’t have room for both. My daughter bought me a Cricut Explore Air 2 last year, but we share it, so it’s only in my house some of the time. I kind of wish I still had the Cuttlebug as well, but space.....
I very much enjoyed your review of the different machines.

I love the Big Shot. I have had mine for many years and use it for everything. The hinged plate system is great. Each shim is printed with exactly what it is used for: embossing folders, wafer dies, etc. no having to guess. The electric machines are too expensive. The Gemini is too noisy but the Empress is quieter..Also wouldn't want to have to play around guessing what "sandwich" to use.

I broke my first cuttlebug machine and tried to get replacement parts- they wouldn't sell them to me- the warranty was expired by a month. That kinda turned me off- but I loved the machine so much that I bought another one. I have several of the machines you showed-glad to see I am not the only one who keeps the older ones. The old heavy red one from sizzix is in the back of my closet with the dies- do we call that hoarding? LOL Keep your RUclips channel just the way it is-Love your personal touch including your family pictures- trolls just don't have a life! Your reviews of the machines was awesome and I Thank You for taking the time to do this! I am also a long time follower from the other channel and loved all the craft tutorials you did along with the nail art and reviews of products and family vacations! Stay Sweet just the way you are and don't pay any attention to the negatives- they must be lonely people looking. For some of the ladies looking for extra plates- you can try buying plexie glass and cut it down to size for extra plates. Go to Lowe's or Menards stores to look for it. Worth a try.

Thank you so much, Peg! I really appreciate the encouragement. I don't think it's genuine or right to only record "perfect" shots. There are items I review that may not have clear instructions, may have pitfalls, etc...I don't mind showing what those are if I come across them. I don't think that's dissing the item in any way, and I'm not paid to fake what I think. LOL! It's just being real, and I hope that helps folks at home. I'm not an expert but been around the block enough to offer insight, if people want to hear it. Luckily, I have a great subscriber pool! (:

Great review! ♥ I remember you from the last channel that you had and wondered what happened to you. So glad RUclips's weird algorithm suggested this new channel! 🙌 I have a Big Shot, Vagabond, Silhouette Cameo & Portrait and the Gemini original and was previously looking for a smaller manual die cutter. I think what I'm going to do is just use smaller cutting plates on the Big Shot and Vagabond. I was blessed enough to find the Gemini at Tuesday Morning for 150$ last year but have yet to use it. I did order the Gemini Junior plates to use in it so I don't have to worry about the smaller dies. Right now I'm looking for another die cutting machine that's electric like Teresa Collins cut'n'emboss machine but updated to have the same features as the Gemini. I really appreciate the chit chat because I learn so much more. Thanks for taking the time to make this fabulous video and never mind the naysayers! They need to get a life. 😉

Thanks for sharing this video, i bought the Evolution, but right off the dial system did not budge at all & it was extremely hard to try to open the drawers, especially if you have weak wrists or fingers & the suctions cups didn't work, also i expected it in the silvery gray & it was white, well that was the least of my worries, but it surely had it's issues so i returned it, then i bought the machine called Nurxiovo from Amazon, it stated it was a diecutter/embosser & that it had suction cups, well there were no suction cups included & it couldn't do any embossing without some other type of mat or pad, that wasn't even included, what i did like about this one, was the drawers opened very easily & they were deep, the handle was flexible to turn in on itself to not be sticking outward, it did great die cutting & offered great freebies, but the description of this machine was not truthful, i want one with suction cups, this is the only reason why i didn't buy the Spellbinders machine. So i decided on trying out an older design called the Accucut Zip eMATE, i got one still brandnew on eBay, so far i'm having many issues with this one as well, i hope to figure it out, i do want to keep this one, just not much helpful info on it, as it's virtually unheard of.
So tomorrow i plan on calling the company that sold it, but now they aren't even selling these anymore, i hope i get this one figured out.
I know i'll be getting quite frustrated i just wish i could find one that is truthful in their descriptions & has easier instructions, is there any chance that you'd be willing to sell any of yours, if so please let me know, thanks & stay safe.

I have no idea how I missed this video! It’s a year old. I finally found a difference in our opinions. I prefer the Empress to the Gemini but since I started using the alternative mats/plates, I use the Gemini more. And yes, having to hit the “run” button is annoying on the Empress. You have a few more machines than I do, but not many. 😳 I LOVE my Big Kick (which I believe is the same as the Big Shot. But I don’t use the platform. You can get a magnetic plate, which is the bomb, and just use it with regular cutting plates on top. Very similar to the cuttlebug plate system. I prefer it to the Cuttlebug for cutting but I don’t think anything beats the Cuttlebug for embossing. Thanks for all the work you put into this. As for any naysayers, as my mama used to say, they can stick it where the sun don’t shine!!👍

You explain things very well and I really enjoy watching what you put together, whether its crafty or food related. I also enjoy your haul videos (I'm so jealous there is no Daiso in the East coast!) I have and use frequently, the little red sizzix sidekick. You need to have the teal (clear teal) plates to use metal dies. I also have and use the big shot but generally for dies that won't fit in to the sidekick. Still have the green cuttlebug and original red sizzix too, but they are stored away. Keep up the great content!

I have the Gemini Junior and Go, I only used the metal shim once as I found it added too much pressure to the die cut and plates but that's in my machine. I also have the Big Shot Plus and Big shot (which i love) Calibur (which i hate!) Cuttlebug (which i never use) and the small spellbinders machine (which is OK) I use a power bank for my Gemini Go but it slows it right down! The older Sidekick machines take the new plates because they are thicker. The old machine needs a special plate/shim. The new plates are $3.99 at Hobby Lobby and often on sale.

I like the Sizzix Big Shot because those tabs automatically tell you what they cut/emboss (the sandwitch)--no guesswork as in cricut or other machines. The BigShot will cut/emboss chipboard, leather, metal blanks. You can use the Bigz dies without the platform and just the cutting plates. (I also have Cricut, Empress, and Gemini Jr.) I've starting using my Anna Griffith dies with Empress and everything else with Gemini, Jr.; Sizzix for materials like leather and aluminum or jewelry blanks.

This was good and informative. That Big Shot layered (hinged) cutting plate and shims I like because all the options are right there without getting lost and it's not confusing trying to figure what which shim to use. CRAFTERS COMPANION! Don't get me started on them! I bought an embossing folder that also was supposed to cut out the center. The first time I used it in the Sissix it broke! Crafters Companion would NOT stand behind it saying it was only supposed to be used in a Gemini machine, and yet the packaging never said that. If It had I wouldn't have bought it. I can't afford to throw money away on products that won't work I liked this video. I like that you gave your honest accounting of what happened when you used it.

    • @VianneyCreates
      @VianneyCreates  4 года назад +1

The Empress mini is adorable! So, when companies say that the mini machines will work on 95% of their dies, it's because most cutting dies are about 4 inches or smaller. Only limited numbers of dies are full card size. I don't see the Junior and Mini as comparable. The Junior is still what I would consider a full size machine, it's about the same as the Empress. The mini has 4.25 inch plates (4.5 inch opening), so will only cut things up to that size...if you're looking for something to cut card fronts that are 5x7 or accommodate larger embossing folders, the Mini won't do it. I hope that helps! (:

I don't see the negative comments and if you deleted them, I'm glad you did.
This "Linda" person is the same troll I've encountered on a few other crafter's channels. Calling their content boring, telling them to stick with the script and stop getting off topic, that they talk too fast, breathe too hard and all this other stupid junk. She seems to target certain channels. She's definitely a bully and has an MO and I hope you didn't let her get to you.
I encountered her so frequently, I finally called her out on her negative comments. She got mad and said my comments to her were too negative and unnecessary, then blocked me! 😂😂 Oh the irony!
I totally had no idea the Cuttlebug was being discontinued. I mean I just bought the thing last year! Thanks for letting us know because other crafters aren't talking about it.
I'm so mad though. I mean thankfully my hoarding habit comes in handy for this, as I bought two extra sets of B plates but like an idiot, just threw out my old warped plates 2 weeks ago and started on a new set, leaving me with only one extra set. I'm kicking myself very hard for this!! I managed to find their extended long cutting plates late last year and it was super difficult. I just couldn't understand why....now it all makes sense.
Now I don't feel so bad for purchasing the Cheery Lynn Little Sister and the Big Shot. Thought I was going crazy and overdoing it. 😂😂.
Having said that, the Cuttlebug is still my favorite, followed by the Cheery Lynn Little Sister. I'm surprised I didn't fancy the Big Shot like I thought I would. I think it's because it's so bulky and heavy. I don't have a craft room, so I'm mobile and carrying that thing around is a hassle.
Cheery Lynn's Little Sister is amazing! Heavy but not bulky like the Big Shot. It's the only machine that I know of that can use any plate by any manufacturer since the rollers are adjustable. I'm noticing Cheery Lynn's machines are getting harder to find. Not sure what's going on because I don't see anything online about them discontinuing it. I have no problem finding their plates or anything so I dunno.
I have that same texture boutique and despite people saying it was a waste, (since a die cutting machine also does embossing), I don't regret the purchase at all! I actually prefer my texture boutique for embossing jobs because, 1) I personally think it does a better job. 2) I don't have to deal with trying to figure out the sandwich order/placement.
Anyway, sorry for this long essay. And thanks for this amazing video! ❤

When they decide they no longer want to support a product, they ditch it quick. No support, no nothing. I can't believe they won't even continue making the plates. I think that is something they can easily continue doing. They did the same with the Imagine and the Gypsy. Bye! That's crazy to me. It seems like they didn't say much about it bc I've had tons of people saying the y didn't know...I mean I didn't even know until a gal from "across the pond" told me about it recently! LOL! What a bummer. I, like you, (like many crafters, I'm sure) have a bit of a hoarding issue, too. I have three clean sets left and three that I've cut into. I think that's fine, and I still have the Big Shot. I guess I'll move toward that now. Like I said in the video and you said here, it takes up a lot of space!
I'll look into the Cheery Lynn machine, I didn't know they had one. I love their stuff and usually buy their dies and stuff at Scrapbook Expos...which, bummer, I just missed the Ontario one a few weeks ago! Ugh.

I agree, they could have at least continued making the plates. I can't believe they're still selling the Cuttlebug like everything is a-okay. Not sure if they don't know or if they've been told to keep hush hush. You're the only person letting folks know and again, a big ole thanks!
Cheery Lynn has two machines.....The Big Sister and The Little Sister. If I had to describe it, I'd say it's heavy like the Big Shot with the size and opening of the Cuttlebug with a slimmer side profile. Thank God it folds up like the CuttleBug.
That's the Little Sister though. I can't imagine how heavy the Big Sister is. I saw Gina K using her Big Sister and I remember her saying she doesn't carry it to her studio because it's so heavy but she loved it. Definitely research it before buying because I've noticed it's getting harder and harder to find and I'm not sure if they're discontinuing it or what. However, the Empress has optional larger cutting plates where the Junior doesn't. To me, those two machines work just as well but the Empress gives the option of cutting larger dies without an even larger machine. I hope that makes sense. Can you do an update on the machines you use now? You have the tangerine how. Just wondered how she fits it 😀

Place the Gemi Go on a 2 tier stand found at Walmart. Space saver😀

Great idea! I have a few of those in my kitchen. I even have some in the garage that I used to keep in the RV...I'll have to see if they are the right size. TY!!

You have until January to return the mini Gemini and if you like the Diamond press with the bigger opening, I think I will wait to see how big the opening is on the diamond press

    • @VianneyCreates
      @VianneyCreates  4 года назад

The Diamond Press opening is 4 1/2", but the folder might be 4 1/4"...they didn't specify in the little video they put out. TY!!

DP said a few months...there won't be another HSN craft day after November 5th until January or February, I think. So, it will still be a while.

I really enjoy your videos! Don’t listen to anyone tell you how to record! Thanks to you I don’t feel so bad for having more cutting machines than you 😂 I’m not sure if that’s a good thing 🤔

Aw, man! You just reminded me about that. A gal here had mentioned that Sara said the prices for US would be going up after the first of the year. Totally forgot to mention that. I already have the machines and lots of plates...maybe I should get some more plates now, though.

I love my Big Shot. It's all I use. I really need to stock up on standard plates and extended plates. Stampin' Up is no longer selling Big Shots or Sizzix products so they might be discontinuing the Big Shot. I only paid $59.95 for mine 9 years ago at Joan's with a 50% off coupon. I love it. I also have the old press cut Sizzix machine and 2 sidekick machines.

I wish Spellbinder's had not stopped making the hand cranked Artisan Explorer because I love it. It's heavy duty, has a 4 inch opening and cuts and embosses beautifully. Guess when I wear out the plates I'll need to go looking on eBay. What patience you must have to try such a variety and keep track of what each does. I have the full-size Gemini but if I got a smaller electric machine the 6-inch spellbinder beckons because it cuts the thicker dies.

Thank you! I was so afraid of making this video because it is a lot to go through, but it has been well received. So many newcomers don't know about all of the machines out there, and my little collection is barely scratching the surface. (:

I love my old old sizzle machine. Still use it daily. I love cutting thin metal and fabric etc with thick dies. My machine is teal color and plates all seperate. I have looked at the Gemini and the expense to buy machine and the cost of replacing the plates keeps me from buying one. Sizzle machine has been pretty cheap to use for the last 15 years.

Thank you very much for akl the good informatiin about the die cutting machines. Please don't change anything about your channel, if someone doesn't like this or other channel they should move to watch something else. By the way I have 2 big shots and the big shot plus and I love them! Never had a problem with them however I looking foward to see the little machine from Anna Griffin and the new Diamond press. I think a need a portable mini for little projects. Ones again thank you, and keep up the good work!! Blessings!!!

Thank you so very much, I really appreciate it. I have only ever heard great things about the Big Shot, so that speaks volumes. I will try and use it more. I am looking forward to the Empress mini because it's so cute, but will probably have to skip on the new Diamond Press...I have so many of these little manual machines already. I probably should switch out the Gemini Mini for that new DP, but I bought it in the bundle with the CC Compendium...so it would ALL have to go back. /:
