SoHyang's Vocal Range in One Minute

- A quick video showing the vocal range of Christian Crossover soprano SoHyang (소향), the Diva of Korea. It's connected from Low F below Middle C (F3) to High F above Soprano C (F6); no whistles, no falsettos, no exclamations, no studio harmonies, no accidental notes, etc. Just full voice (chest voice, mixed voice and head voice).
Her lower register is not the strongest, but at least nowadays her notes above G#3 are quite nicely supported. Her upper register is insane, and she sustains all her high notes in full voice all the way up to F6. She has actually belted C6, but she did not sustain it, and I didn't want to disrupt the flow of the video by suddenly putting a non-sustained note.
lol. It's getting scary as she approaches the high notes. And by scary, I meant my windows are open and it's past 12. Sohyang's is amazing btw.
Her technique is simply AMAZING.
Eliseo IKR there are a lot of modern singers that have the great range but not great technique and sohyang definitely does not fit that catagory she has great range along with great technique

It's not belting, but mixed voice. She even said so in an interview.
The way her voice gets fuller and richer as it progresses up the scale shows the mark of a true soprano. I find it funny that there are many sopranos out there in the pop music world yet some of them can't handle a song in the soprano tessitura. This remarkable woman being the select few who can.

+Bao Long Huynh The amazing thing about SoHyang is that her notes are fully connected and her head voice is fully supported...as opposed to Mariah's whistle which is not connected. Reaching an A6 using SoHyang's technique is much more difficult than using "whistle". No shade to Mariah though who is forever one of the greats.

You do realize with your definition of a Spinto you basically just described SoHyang's singing style. Listen to her covers of I Have Nothing or her Where Are You performance, she definitely IS a Spinto.
In her Where Are You performance the Climax is all above C#5, she belts a resonant B5 and stays in Forte all the way to the end, with no pain or hoarseness, just 100% Resonance, no Light Lyric would be able to do that.

Well, So Hyang is a good singer by pop standards, but Sumi Jo is the real diva of Korea and is one of the best singers in the world.

I mean they not only sound large and dark than sohyang, they would really DROWN sohyang's voice. Sohyang is a leggero soprano or sopranino. There's a reason why her tessitura and passaggio (D5) is higher than most soprano.

SoHyang does not strain and she can belt C6 with support. SoHyang is a Spinto Spintos gain a metallic and steely timbre above Eb5, I think you are mistaking that timbre for screechy/noisy.

No, C#5 is a hard note. She belts it in Dream.

C#5 is not a hard note. It's a mid note. She belts way higher than C#5 in Dream, the highest being a Bb5.
