OMG!!! Home Free just keeps getting Better and Better with each new performance, and Austin Brown absolutely owns this great Percy Sledge song! Consider too, with this Pandemic, it was created in the virtually world! This Pandemic may have actually helped them focus to carry them to a new level of excellence! To all those saying this is a Michael Bolton song, I say, “Michael who???” This has always been a Percy Sledge song! He wrote it on the spot in 1966 at one of his gigs after his girlfriend left him for his best friend. It was originally titled: "Why Did You Leave Me Baby." However, after a rewrite of a few of the lyrics, the song was released as: “When a Man Loves a woman.” What a great tribute to the Legend of - Percy Sledge!
Home Free can, apparently, do no wrong. They are so incredible.
On the Behind the Scenes video for Patreon, they said he asked Amberly to come when he recorded it in the studio. Basically, he was singing to her, is what we all think.
If they were trying to inspire him, IT WORKED.

Austin sure sang that song, and it wasn't just the high notes, it was also the low notes, the passion and the drama. Yeah, you need to actually watch him, he transmitted all that feeling straight into the camera. But Bro - Wow - you sure brought the ugly face. thought you were crying at one point. LOL that's the power of a well-delivered song.

I just happened across Austin singing Unchained Melody like you never heard before by accident about a month ago when I was building a speaker enclosure and had RUclips on autoplay in the garage. He wasn't even halfway through the song before I had stopped went and picked up my phone and restarted the video. By the end of it my eyes had teared up and I had to find out who the guy was so I googled him and found out he was a member of Home Free.
That was the beginning of my trip down the rabbit hole which I dove right into and closed the lid behind me because I ain't coming out. Home Free is hands down the best singing group I have ever heard. When I hear them sing I can feel it in my soul and moves me. I have turned a bunch of other people on to them as well and everyone I sent links to or told about them has thanked me and I thank Home Free for making beautiful soul touching uplifting music that has brought some much needed joy to my soul during such a shitty time in this country.

Like the words say, "love deep down his soul". These guys feel the words and music in their soul, so when you hear it, that is where you receive it, in your soul. They inhabit their performance like a second skin and become the feel of the music and the lyrics that speak to deep down inside. Remarkable. Love your spot on reaction, totally related.
Percy Sledge wrote the song and recorded it in '66 - So sweet and tender and was a favorite of mine and man...did I enjoy slow dancing to this song!!! Much respect to you Percy for giving us this song!!! I didn't think anyone could top Michael Bolton's cover...but I be wrong on that one!!! Austin took it to the next level- and the guys put the killer backing and Mr Rupp Esq.... did the best soulful beat that you could ever imagine. This one is definitely a chart topper....

I've always loved the late Percy Sledge's original (not so much Michael Bolton's cover - I thought it rather over-wrought). I think Mr. Sledge would have approved of HFs rendition. The harmonies, beatboxing and, of course, Austin's lead are perfection. Back in the day this was called "blue eyed soul". Thanks for playing this & your positivity!

You know, people often underestimate how loving both music and someone can make you sound. That's how you can get 2 people with very little musical skill to sound like they've been singing together for their whole life. The fancy degrees are nice, but sometimes the master of none can be ok singing with the master of one. Just need a little love :)

Apparently, Tim was trying to get Austin to sing this one for 4 or 5 years. I'm glad he was patient.

Austin killed this song, but in my opinion all covers of this song should be measured against the original, Percy Sledge, recorded in 1966. To me nothing compared, until now. I'm not saying that one or the other is better, they are both amazing, and all others pale in comparison. Great reaction, Dave!
