The winner from China was not supposed to win. She was there to pace a teammate who was the Chinese favorite. When the favorite got disqualified behind her, the entire Chinese team and coaches withdrew leaving the pace maker alone with no team support at all in the stadium. That is why she looks confused at the end. No one from her team was there to congratulate her.
WTF. That's Chinese national support for you. Abandon your winning athlete because the person you planned to win didn't win. Bizarre.

@@sportsonwheelss What propaganda? The other runner was disqualified and the Chinese team withdrew. These are a matter of official record. You can see the video. No Chinese team member was there to greet her. She looks around the entire stadium trying to find anyone from her country. Also she is probably a little freaked out too because id she is alone, she has no idea how to get back to her team. She is not carrying a cellphone and wallet.

Her entire team left her to celebrate alone, but apparently the Aussies saw what had happened and celebrated with her.
They didn't abandon her. They were tending to their teammate who was disqualified. Being disqualified is a horrible feeling.
Heros are unsung because they know it's not about glitz and glamour but gratitude and humility. She never gave up against all odds and finished her race and brought home the gold for China.
The commenters keep saying the disqualification wasn't deserved because she was 100 meters from winning in front of country and the judges should have let it go. I agree with the disqualification. You can see her lift up her feet. You can't jog in that event, ever. Not even 100 meters from the end.
Yes, it's very strict event. I've tried race walking, it's harder than it looks. Can't let adrenaline get the best of you, especially at the end.
I don't get this, but the one who got disqualified looked like she was almost sprinting while the others are speed walking. Is that why she was DQ?
In race walking you aren't allowed to have two feet off the ground at the same time. There are cameras by the side of the road, with referee's reviewing the footage as the race occurs. If you receive three warnings then you're disqualified.
