- Lorde was recognized as an honoree at Variety‘s Power of Women event presented by Lifetime for her efforts on behalf of 350 Aotearoa, an organization “whose commitment to ending fossil fuel-driven projects back home is truly inspiring,” she commented. Highlighting the "golden microphone" of power and privilege she wields, the musician encouraged herself and others to use their voices to amplify those that often go unheard.

Awesome. I'm not surprised to hear her say these things!! So much integrity, to say these things. And also, it did cause real hurt and surface real hurt, that has gone on for a long time in our community in nz, and worldwide with colonial racism. It's violent, and I'm so glad she has the courage to be open to the conversation, and to own it, support it, and not shy away from it.

Oh the irony. It’s like the folks that fly, private jets of course, to climate summits. I do commend her on not selling CDs, even though in 2020 a total of 31 million were sold in the U.S. so it’s akin to me saying that I’m no longer going to sell 8 track cassettes. Every bit helps, but then to go on a tour of the U.S. and Canada?
I understand your point, but I guess her going on tour, whilst damaging, is spreading an important message to the many who will see her live & hear the message she is trying to get across in her music - which is to respect the environment.

She’s actually one of the few artists that removed that option from her store- specifically for the benefit of the environment. She doesn’t sell plastic CDs anymore. Next time educate yourself before typing an ignorant, false comment.
