Does the evaporust harm the finish at all? I have some steel ak mags with some light spots of rust that can’t be reached with a brush or steel wool. Other than that they have a perfect finish. I’m just wondering if that stuff will hurt the finish at all?

It will completely strip it down to the bare metal.

    What about the springs?

The springs were summa springs. Summa good, summa little rusty. All in all, the springs were mostly very good condition.

My father-in-law gave me an M1 carbine. Had four mags that were rusted somewhat on the surface, so I submerged them in white Apple cider vinegar for two days and that cleaned most the rust off.
