    Always check the simple things 1st! I almost ordered the filter hose kit and almost bought the solenoid kit before thinking “where does the line go?” When I followed the water line from the fridge through my cupboards and down to my utility room I found that the valve was not fully open. All I did was open the valve and VOILA! Full stream of water, no waiting forever for a glass of water and ZERO cost :) No need to try to clean out the mineral deposits from the hose lines either.

      Excellent. I was having slow water flow. Just opened water flow valve all the way and now it works fine. Thanks

      @@subodhsharma1680 After awhile I did find that I also needed to change the temp setting on my freezer from 3 down to 1. My freezer was getting too cold during the winter (not sure why) and it was causing my line to freeze. Adjusting your freezer temp setting can fix low water flow also.

    Ill tell you what I did that worked. I poured vinager in the tube to the fridge ( disconnected the line and poured vinegar in the line to the fridge. That didnt seem to be helping much, but what I did that finally made a difference was to take the filter out and then fill a glass and repeat. Every time what I could hear was a lot of suction being put on the lines. The water would come out good for a few seconds and then slow down. But once it slowed you could literallly hear the suction on the line vibtaing the line. So I kept pulling the filter and repeat. after about 1/2 dozen times it broke loose. Works fine now.

    Best Takeaway: I learned the proper term is "dispenser cradle". Thanks for teaching me that in 85 seconds, GE!
    Worst Takeaway: Everything not listed in the Aspirations section.
    RUclips Title-driven Aspirations: To learn about cleaning lime or calcium deposits through the internal hosing, troubleshooting the filter valve, replacing lines, known issues with defective filters, troubleshooting techniques for possible frozen lines, and/or how to clean your line properly with vinegar or a high explosive warhead containing napalm (the latter would resolve other household issues as well).

    The one thing I HAVE NOT seen on these forums is the filter housing unit. It has a valve that shuts off the water when the filter is removed so your kitchen doesn't flood when the filter is removed. THE OTHER FUNCTION OF THIS VALVE IS TO FULLY OPEN WHEN THE FILTER IS INSERTED. When a new filter is inserted, you can usually hear water run into the filter for a second or two. My other hint that this valve on the filter housing was bad was that when I had the filter removed, THIS VALVE DID NOT FULLY SHUT OFF THE WATER AND THEREFORE I HAD A SMALL LEAK. (this will run into the water catch reservoir so do not let this leak go on for long) Hope this helps. Oh yeah, i had already replaced the water inlet valve and that did not fix my problem of slow filtered water.

    An ongoing issue with my side by side door water dispenser is its freezing up. Recently it froze twice in a 24 hour period. I'm using the copper wire/string trimmer line with a hair dryer on the backside of the dispenser to get it free but this has gotten old, stale, tiring. I've paid to have a Service call and I won't do that again for the same issue. GE hasn't told me they have a fix so this will not happen again. They say schedule a service call. This will not fix this recurring problem. I will add a thin piece of insulation inside the door behind the dispenser and see if that works. No solutions from GE.

    My dispenser was working just fine until I changed the filter. Now it takes 21 seconds to dispence 8 ozs. I tried using the bypass valve, and since it was working until the new filter was placed I don't think there is a problem with the water line. Any other suggestions?

    • @geappliances
      @geappliances  10 лет назад

      Hello Lenore, I'm sorry to hear that you are having this issue. Make sure the cradle has been held down for 2-3 minutes to allow the reservoir to fill completely.
      Note: It should only take approximately 7 seconds to fill an 8 ounce glass.
      If it is taking longer, we recommend contacting GE Consumer Service and have them come out and diagnose this issue. They can be reached by calling 1-800-432-2737. Thanks so much for checking with us. Have a good day!

    I just bought a new GE fridge it takes 5 minutes to fill one cup New Fridge Ic works fine very slow water flow WHAT SHOULD I DO ITS NEW INSTALLED

    • @geappliances
      @geappliances  6 лет назад +1

      Hi - I would check to see if the water to the refrigerator is turned all the way on at the shut-off valve. If you have a by-pass valve, you can put it in place of the filter to see if the filter is clogged and just needs to be replaced. But if these suggestions don't help, then I'd recommend service. Here's a link to our on-line service page:

      Did you install the by-pass valve, in place of the filter, to see if the flow improves? Was the flow fine when the refrigerator was initially installed? Please let us know when you can. TH
