The Sweedish Royal Cadet Marching Band should be invited back next year for sure! Also all those who were affected by the malfunction.
Not only that, the TOR production team's coordination with the TV networks didn't think to include the opening marching band (Kaiser High School) as they marched...they were skipped all together.
Invite them all back...they put in so much work.

Imagine the cost coming from Sweden? Not cheap. Glad they at least finished the Parade.

I was able to see them live on the KTLA Facebook live feed, which was a static camera passed the turn with no commentary. I saw the band had marched around the float but this perspective shows how well the band handled it. Made the turn going around the floats and adjusting the block all without missing a step. The float breaking down is a shame but congrats to the band for being so flexible and professional!

Thanks, Music213 for posting this. I hope it gets shared far and wide so this band can be seen as deserved. It was a shame their hard work was not seen properly.

You're welcome Leanne. I agree with you. I hope they get invited back. I met their drum major, director and some of the musicians. All very nice!

This band are used to playing to public crowds given they "play the palace" quite regularly. When its the Swedish Navy's turn to post the guard at Stockholm's Royal Palace, this band plays at the daily Changing of The Guard ceremony. Especially during summer, this draws major tourist crowds and its not uncommon to hear them (or whichever service band has the duty) throw in the odd well known Swedish tune 😏

I loved this band in the Pasadena public college presentation.
    This is not fair :S

Wonderful band, thank you for posting this video. It's shameful what happened this morning. It seems that the parade has over the years morphed into a "made for TV" event. They presented the "grand finale" before the parade was over because the allotted time had expired. I can't blame the audience for clogging up the route because they legit thought it was over.

The Tournament officials failed miserably at having any contingency plan. Nest time, have the biggest and more complicated floats at the end. The floats and bands that missed being on TV should be back next year and have their expenses paid for by the TOR and be first next time. Terrible way to run the parade. After 130 times, you would think they had a plan.

Exactly my thoughts! So sad this happened. I was down the parade route and was waiting for the Swedish band. Then the streets were flooded with people like it was over. I wanted to stay , but everyone was leaving and it looked like maybe the rest was blocked for a long time. Yeah, I hope they can have them back next year. I feel incredibly sad for them to come all this way and not be on TV. And also march 5 miles to a depleted audience.

This was the last band though. It was at the end.

As the floats get bigger, heavier and more complicated, no “contingency plan” is ever going to work completely. They were prepared. They already had a heavy duty (semi) tow truck hooking up to the offending float, which was articulated and one of the longest in the parade - but that takes time for safety reasons.

Hopefully they can be reinvited and march the whole parade without such confusion! Much respect to the band as they kept going and didn’t let anything stop them!! :)

You're welcome. This is a really great band. I hope they receive another invitation, hopefully in less than four years for what they were put through in this year's parade.

Too bad for the incompetencies of the organizer of this parade this year. No planning whatsoever. People waited for this all year and they didn't even get to march along the route properly with the million people watching them. Definitely, they should be invited again next year to be in front of the line.

A poor and embarresing reflection on the organizing committee of this year's parade. It's one thing to be caught by surprise because of a float malfunction but quite another to not having a Plan B in mind should such a problem occur.
