Mam, you are just fantastic! Everyday I check your channel or notification on RUclips for a new video. I'm a big fan of your pronunciation. Will you please make a video about the pronunciation of 01 to 100.
You once joined the RJ Kibria show where you said "you sound good, you look good". Truly you are attractive because of your speaking style and stylish pronunciation. I am in love with your speaking style, gesture and posture.
Ma shaa Allah, Now how cool is that...!!? 12 months with correct British (not really a big fan of) and American (favorite ) pronunciation. Did we ever give it a try like this....!!? All sorted, detailed but simplified in a graspable manner and in a brief clip...Al Hhamdulilah !! How many times do we have to use these month names on the rare occasions of speaking English in a formal conversation or with a foreigner !!? In all these cases it is undoubtedly important to stick to the basic US or UK accent as much as possible. Because in these cases, we need to give it an extra effort to ensure understandability and acceptability of what we are actually saying. In a layman's observation, I figured out one basic reason behind an agonizing problem of the educated section of Bangladesh. Yuh, that is "comparatively poor conversational skill in English in general". Over the generations since the British left, people of this land are actually suffering from a deceiving cycle of No Fun/joy---no interest---embarrassment---avoidance---no progress---no correction---no development, and ultimately back to "No Fun". If we are unable to take pleasure in talking in English especially to foreigners, then how do we expect to overcome our national panic or at least the national discomfort about English !!? Because of my father's government job, throughout mid 80's to mid 90's period, Al Hhamdulillah, I have been to a few different districts, different schools, different communities in Bangladesh. Everywhere I have seen this common panic or agitation whenever we, school-going kids, were asked to talk in English for a while. That is just unacceptable. While occasionally we were ever engaged with those "English Comfy" kids ( মানে যাদেরকে আমরা কেউ কেউ বলি " ইংলিশে বাংলা " ) from English medium schools and if at any point those "Medium Kids" switch to English, most of us in an immediate reaction, switch to absolute tight-lipped mode ( একেবারে স্কচ টেপ !! সেই যে মুখ বন্ধ হলো, আর তো খোলার নাম নিচ্ছে না !!). As if the smarter and blessed "medium kids" just took our remote control and pressed the mute button in a very demeaning manner. That was surely agonizingly embarrassing for us and for those kids as well if they were sensible. Otherwise, they would just enjoy every moment of it... Now, these are promising days indeed, Ma shaa Allah, Al Hhamdulillah. With such devoted and visionary people coming up addressing this problem, I get to figure out at least one of the reasons behind the "No Fun" scenario Al Hhamdulillah. " We were never taught the correct and acceptable pronunciation of English words in our schools or by our mentors or by our surroundings." Hence, we hardly ever had the true pleasure of speaking English like the natives. The remaining stages of the deceiving cycle, I mentioned were just falling dominos. Schools and curriculums emphasized in teaching English Grammer with "Gerand", "Quasipassive Verb", and all those English Second Paper Nightmares. They hardly ever gave any attention to teach communicative English with the right pronunciation and commonly used phrasal verbs. As a result, the enthusiastic interest for English in Bangla Medium students was always a rare find. This lack of interest, in turn, left the century-old unhealed problem unaddressed, yields no development or rather degradation over generations in our English skills, and here we are: "I am GPA 5 ". But, things are changing. Because, such maestros (Mashrafis) are now out on the field with different solutions to the problem, building a conscious community, making some noise, making the proper authority at least think about changing the curriculum and about producing a batch of modernized English teachers equipped with effective and up-to-date methods. I wish all the best for these changemakers to Allah SubHaana wa Taala.
