I have and love both The Moon and Fidelis. Rasquinet is also one of my favorite perfumers!! Thanks for this comparison video, a lot of people say they’re similar but no one took the time to properly compare them. Cheers!
Thanks! Sad thing is that most people just read the notes and make assumptions. Glad you heard my thoughts!

@@SeldomlyOften having Fidelis for 2 years and The Moon for 6 months, I wore the first at the office 4-5 times already, but I feel the second one is too strong for the office. I was lucky to find Fidelis when I started collecting 2-3 years ago and bought it from a Canadian online discounter, they never had it in stock again after I bought one of their last units. I also have a few bottles from HdP, Prolixe, Ambrarem and Petroleum are my favorites! About FM, it’s also one of my favorite houses and, like you, I also have Promise. Cypriol on that one is lovely, my reference cypriol for sure! Just got a 10ml of Hope, even though I found it a bit similar to Promise, but still lovely.
Never got to try The Moon because I have Fidelis and the similarities kept coming up. Appreciate the comparison here. 👍 Also a fan of the raspberry background. 😄 I totally get it. That movie pairing is a great idea too since I started doing it with music and fashion long ago. Highly informative as always. No joke, this is probably one of the best fragrance vids I've seen in the past few weeks. Very much a proponent of sampling!
Lovely vid. Great job. 👏 This was lunched when the "oud boom era" as I call and did not raised curiosity in me. Specially with that price. After your review I've checked the prices here in 🇪🇦 and .... not that bad, a 50ml for 570€. Not saying that it is cheap or I'm going to buy it but certainly will give it a try. Thanks again for your work. 👌👍
I’ve only tried Boccanera of these 3. Love the dark chocolate note but it doesn’t last too long on me. Terroni sure does though. That one is probably in my top 3.
@@MrHARMCITY I have a full discovery set that just arrived, will be sampling it on camera. I really like the house and have Cupid’s Kiss by JR, great stuff.
Nice video. If you are a fan of Julien Rasquinet and Viole Nere, you have to put your nose on Naomi Goodsir Iris Cendre! I recommend diving into Naomi Goodsir small lineup, they are super unique like this one or Nuit de Bakelite. Not an easy wear, but I reckon you would love that
Remember….”You will Not Buy the Moon” 😂. Life is too short. Don’t deny yourself something that makes you so happy, especially if a small bottle will last a very long time. I need to get my nose on that one for sure. Thanks for all you do 💯.
@@Leonard_Washington76 I truly love it but the price is really rough. Even if I would narrow down my collection to 15-20 premium bottles it would be a hard sell.
I have bottles of Fidelis & Boccanero. I do prefer Fidelis. Strange that i get a huge dose of coffee from Fidelis. By far the strongest note to my nose. Have you tried Ambre 114 from HDP ? Fantastic Amber scent. A bit linear but very beautiful & intoxicating.
Always a joy to see Boccanera mentionned, one of the less popular from Orto Parisi. I'm not sure why that is but in stores (in eastern canada) I often see they have only some from the selection and not the whole roster, same for Nasomatto. I'm not sure why that is. Boccanera is the first one I bought from Orto Parisi, somehow it's the one that spoke to me the most on first impression. I hadnt smelt Black Afgano beforehand so the similarity didnt strike me at the time, and indeed having both would be totally redundant. Similarly I find that Stercus & Terroni are also very much in that ballpark of scent, Stercus going in an almond direction, whereas Terroni goes for a savoury/charred aspect. I'll probably end up getting all of them (3 down and 6 to go), but Stercus & Terroni will probably the last ones due to their proximity to Boccanera which wouldnt justify a purchase as much. That being said I don't know The Moon much let alone Fidelis. Great video as always.
@@ryujinzengen6053 Stercus, Terroni, Boccanera and Black Afgano all smell super similar in the deep drydown. I know how you feel about redundancy. The most narrative is Terroni, the other are cool though 🙂
@@SeldomlyOften On the other hand I feel like Terroni might be the one that has the most similarities with scents from other brands, such as Bois d'Ascese by Naomi Goodsir, or Bois Sikar by Atelier des Ors. Perhaps from that explosion of cypriol
@ probably, but it’s really hard to compare Orto Parisi directly to other brands just because they have such a unique pitch. I treat them as their own thing.
For me Stercus, Boccanera and Terroni all have a very similar character with a slight twist to each of them. But Terroni just ends up being the best out of the three for me, making the other two redundant. Anyways, great video as always 👍
I'm over the moon about The Moon. Just like the satellite that orbits the Earth, a full bottle might always be out of my reach, unless they start paying teachers with more than reality checks.
@@VincentParisNYC everyone in real life around me hates Promise, I ask why and they say “it smells weird and harsh”. That is one of my only frags that consistently get that reaction 😂

My sotd has been cuoium, and it may have had some acrid, pissy aspects in the beginning but now at the end of the day it's very poopy. To the point that I'm getting almost straight skatole. Apart from it giving me a throbbing headache, it's pretty cool.
@SeldomlyOften chest and a forearm. Next time I'll skip the forearm and try to resist the urge to sniff it. Amazing scent though. I think mr. Gualtieri has a screw lose in the best possible way.
Boccanera strikes me as a somewhat uninteresting cross between Black Afgano and Terroni. Not a bad scent, but redundant considering the popularity of the other two.
@@adrians5875 I actually had a bottle of Akro Awake in the past, didn’t really stick with me, kind of reminded me of Xerjoff Symphonium (the other way around actually). My benchmark coffee note is Kerosene Follow 💪
I disagree the drydown is completely different. I own Fidelis and have a decant of The Moon. I don't think The Moon as an oud fragrance but I can't detect coffee in Fidelis either. To me both are jammy red fruits on an incense base. The Moon is a labdanum heavy incense, Fidelis is an olibanum heavy one. The Moon is brighter and holds the fruity aspects all the way, Fidelis is a bit darker. I guess the more noses the more perspectives.
@@simonsays9031 happy to disagree, it’s the beauty of this hobby. I get a lot of funky fermented smell from The Moon (similar to Xerjoff Ether and Amouage King Blue) while Fidelis is easier and more gourmand 🙂
