Why does Hikkaduwa in Sri Lanka have such a bad reputation?

We were warned by many travelers and expats not to visit Hikkaduwa, as normal I didn't listen to anyone and went for a day trip. G'day mate .. I was in Hikkaduwa June/July for 1 month and loved it, it's alot better than pissy cold winter in Adelaide, also a shot of arak followed by a sip of beer does the trick .. I've been going there for over 40 years and surprisingly this year met some very friendly Russians !!!

Yes, I met a couple of really cool expat russians can't always discriminate nations by there governments decisions

You should of headed more the southern part of hikkaduwa beach. Known as narigama. It's really amazing nice bars and restaurants. Good surf breaks. And you can find the sand bottom part of the beach to for swimming. Hikkaduwa has everything for everyone. I have been going for 15 years. I have been to all the southern beaches. Personally I like hikkaduwa the best

Yes, the southern part is the best. He showed only a portion of the northern part.

Hi glad you enjoyed the video . Sri Lanka had no Covid requirements all we needed was a visa.
