    A lot of times, if a fish is being bullied by other fish, this can stunt their growth too. When you purchased this fish, you removed him from “torture” and gave him a new, comfortable life, so the overall health of a fish becomes greatly visible and improved and they will tend to grow faster. I had most fish in my freshwater hobby days, back in the ‘80’s and learned a lot. I had perfect clear water in my tanks, just by doing regular water changes, replacing 25% - 30% water changes, vacuuming the gravel every few weeks and adding a couple of drops of ick killer to keep any chances of bacteria from attacking my fish and everything stayed perfect. We have mild chlorine in our water here and to me, this helps to kill water born bacteria in the aquarium when doing regular water changes. There’s so many people that go crazy about water quality with testing kits and everything, I think it’s all unnecessary for freshwater aquariums, unless you live somewhere with terrible tap water.

    Yes, gotta look for the colors on the tips of fins when trying to find a male green terror.
    They develop and awesome personality and its so cool when they flare up and get all big looking at you when you look in the tank real close!
    Feeding the frozen cubes of blood worms and shrimp really make them cool.
    A green terror shouldn’t get that big of a hump.

    Nice video question how do you not get algae

    • @CichlidBros
      @CichlidBros  4 года назад

      Young Fish Aquatics thanks! I definitely still get algae, but just clean it out pretty often. Having the light on for less time usually helps the most

    • @CichlidBros
      @CichlidBros  4 года назад

      Sorry to hear! There are a few things you could try - adding more hiding spots and breaking line of sight, getting a bigger tank, or removing one of them. Good luck!

    Can you raise a green terror and a Jack Dempsey together as juveniles? And if you could would they both have to be male or would it be one male and one female or both females?

    • @CichlidBros
      @CichlidBros  4 года назад

      Usually they are good tank mates since they are similar in size and aggression. As always, you could run into aggression issues. You can reduce this some by having a large tank with plenty of hiding spots. Males and females can both be aggressive. Really just depends on the individual fish!

    Hello my friend can you keep Jaguar cichlid with tank mate?

    • @CichlidBros
      @CichlidBros  4 года назад

      Hey there, thanks for watching. They’re both aggressive so most of the time you’ll get some fighting. It can be done if the tank is large enough and there are plenty of hiding spots

    Can I use a pebble substrate?

    • @CichlidBros
      @CichlidBros  4 года назад

      That should be fine. I like the look of sand and it may be more like its natural environment, but they will do just fine with gravel

    • @skirtskirtwatergunmandopeb1035
      @skirtskirtwatergunmandopeb1035 4 года назад

      I heard that they can eat the pebbles on accident is that common with gravel, I am planning to get sand to mix with it before I get the fish but will they still be able to eat normally with pebble/gravel substrate. Also is their any way for me too put the sand in the water without having to take the water out and messing up the water? Sorry for asking I am new to this and I am exited
