If you're a Bumbleby fan who's somehow made it here and are put off by the title, just watch the section at 45:00 first, and then watch the rest afterwards. These are not the words of a person just hating on the ship or just stirring controversy for no reason; this fan clearly cares a great deal about the ship and the people who love it, who sees the amount of value in it but believes so MUCH could have been done to truly make it shine in truly great way, but was failed in numerous ways due to so many factors and choices that could have been avoided or made with more care.

Um as a BB'er that has 10 years watching the show and that's watched the whole vid; you're completely wrong. The time-stamped section doesn't do jack shit for his case, especially since Kaiser proceeds to launch into yet more bullshit bashing even that scene. Because he's incapable of grasping MAGICAL WORLD and the spectacle the crew were giving the actual LGBT+ fans in it. Not to mention once again shitting on Blake like the sexist asshole he is and shitting on their words to each other, cause he's a piece of shit. Though even going beyond that there's his shitting on BB that have the actual elements of long-term relationships (as well as ones that run through all the other canon romances as if its a damn intentional thing) and flat-out ignoring parts of it; while raising up a shallow at best teen-crush one-sided rom-com pair that has nothing to it but being hetero (running in contrast to both of the canon romances prior).
And honestly your ass is in the camp of the worst ones to be speaking on it. You're straight;; you've basically tried to steal another's work but skate by on it by forcing your bullshit into it to make it your own (cause I guess you're too damn lazy to create your own shit); haven't confirmed if you'll even do BB or any LGBT+ in your rewrite garbage; fanservice the hell out of female characters ("Yang has no organs but look at her tits; oh and she's just a party girl; isn't that great characterization for a female character and not at all sexist af?"); and is generally in the usual sexist incel shitlord crowd that wants BB to not be a well-built relationship on actual core elements of relationships but wlw fanservice for your pathetic disgusting asses to get off to. This just boils down to you trying to give armor to a homophobic piece of shit incel like yourself; as both of your dumbasses latch onto the hetero alternative. Said alternative that has literally nothing of substance to it, cause one-sided feelings from a male character + being hetero does NOT make a relationship.
The reality is that because v9 canonized BB in an absolutely gorgeous manner after a 9 volume slowburn involving growing from strangers to close friends to more; having Blake actually feel like a bi character; and having BB as an element within the show not the central hub of the entire thing as well as being treated the exact same as its sibling pairs of Arkos and Renora thus normalizing it all your bitch asses have left is to bitch about how it isn't good enough. You can't call it bait anymore, you can't sow doubts about it, you can't hope that suddenly Sun will come back and get with Blake cause hetero, or deny reality; so instead you try to tear it down. Which is in particular disgusting because of your asses being fucking straight fucking men. Go fuck yourselves.
Surprised you're not busy removing more of Yang's organs to sexualize her? Or making her into a "party girl" in contrast the OG's actually giving her maturity, cause ones like you prefer the busty blonde perceived airhead over the complex intelligent badass that took care of her little sister. Or maybe trying to shove in accents to a world that doesn't have our world's countries.
That's not even going into your attitude of acting like you are in any way in the territory of a Monty. The writers of RWBY have 9 volumes and a very damn good LGBT+ relationship; your ass has 2 failed projects and an obnoxious up-your-ass bloated ego.

CrimsonXE, your argument falls apart on the premise of Switchbacks comment being wrong because Miles is also straight. Meaning the issue you have with Crimson about speaking on how LGBTQ relationships work also applies to Miles Luna as well, and he, according to you, was behind the set up of Blake and Yang's ship and romance because he was at the helm of the writing for the series during Volumes 4, 5, and 6.
You're also saying he's wrong because he's straight? Which seems to be your main overall point. That he can't talk about it because he isn't LGBTQ? When did you become an authority on who can or cannot speak?

Sun was the best character to end up with Blake. They had chemistry, they were foils to each other, they made each other change for the better (Blake learned to see the bright side of a dire situation and fight for what she believes instead of running away when things get too tough for her, and Sun learned to be more serious and speak his heart out instead of just being hype all the time when the need arises), and the Day and Night motif they had going fit the thematic relationship between the two perfectly!
But then again, I have come to understand that everything good about RWBY was accidental and not actually planned out.

RT unintentionally made him better for Blake than Yang.
Sun literally got Blake to overcome her emotional baggage, face her mistakes, and make-up/open up to her friends, parents, etc.

    • @CrimsonXE
      @CrimsonXE Год назад +1

Except he isn't at all. He doesn't understand her; has no commonality with her; has no emotional bond with her; spends a volume violating her privacy and boundaries to the point of her boiling over and going off on him; has no depth as a character; is ignorant to the world; her not noticing his existence outside of story needed bits and info pulling; her side of things being neutral and the feelings being one-sided (and no she shouldn't be put as a goddamn trophy wife for the male); narratively the two do nothing for the faunus equality aspect; Sun heard the same in-danger Blake info as Yang and stayed where he was; Sun was mocked and called a classmate by Adam; Sun is immature af; Sun also tries to push his own view onto Blake then dares to fucking get upset that she won't go with it; and Sun has to bring up YANG to get Blake to listen to him. The one Sun is aligned to is Ilia aka someone who has ONE-SIDED feelings towards Blake. So no, in several ways he's the WORST person (with Adam being disqualified as even an option) to be with her.
Ilia is a better fit due to having gone through shit and knowing the harshness of the world; being mature; having gone of her way to not attack her until having no other alternative; having emotional bond with her; having history; and showing respect towards her privacy and boundaries.
But Yang is the perfection. She has the emotional bond; she has the perfect synchronicity with Blake; she has the going on "not-a-date" dates with Blake; she has the actually reaching Blake in 2x06 getting her to stop burning herself out; she is the one that brightens Blake and brings back here pre-Adam happy self (that never came out with Sun no less); she's the one that strengthens Blake as shown in her standing against Adam, her abuser, and pushing her semblance beyond its normal in cloning Yang; she's been through trauma in her past thus has commonality with Blake in knowing the harsher aspects of the world; she has by having that commonality been able to understand Blake; Yang listens to Blake and compromises with her numerous times; Yang is contrasted by Blake against her romantic ex; Yang puts finding Ruby onto Weiss to go after the in-danger Blake in 3x11; Yang is the one that clashes against Adam with him referring to her as someone Blake loves; Yang is the one with a whole ass gayngst song about her feelings for Blake while separated; Yang is the one shown gently caressing Blake's image in a picture while having a look of longing like a separated lover; Yang is the one that makes Blake's world flip upside down in the best possible way and who Blake does the same for. Yang and Blake's feelings are MUTUAL Yang is a full-fledged developed character, Sun is a side-kick.

    • @CrimsonXE
      @CrimsonXE Год назад +3

@@Scoonertuna Um no actually they didn't. Yang respects Blake's privacy and boundaries; Yang brightens Blake and brings back her pre-Adam self the hopeful and cheery girl; Yang is the one that heard about Blake being in danger and went afterher; Yang is the one Blake contrasted against Adam; Yang is the one referred to by Adam as someone Blake loves; Yang is the one that confronts Adam; Yang is the one that has perfect synchronicity with Blake to the point of having a combo attack; Yang is the one that has a traumatic past that allows her to have commonality with Blake to understand her; Yang is the one that has and develops an emotional bond with Blake; Yang is an actual fully-fledged character; Yang listens to Blake and compromises with her; Yang is the one that makes Blake happy.
Sun is literally a side-kick with a shallow dynamic with Blake and who completely fails to understand her. He couldn't even get Blake to listen to him without bringing up YANG. Will I give him credit for being a good bro in giving her perspective that led to her going back to her team? Sure, but that's it. In v4 alone he displayed every single reason for why he should NOT be with her. But they'd be hetero which is really what ones like your ass latch onto.

My ultimate problem with the relationship is that has forced Blake and Yang to become obsessed with each other to the point they block out other characters or moments that should at the very least should be shared are given exclusively to them (Blake’s Darth Vader style scream in reaction to Yang’s “death” and her going feral against Neo, Blake tackling Yang when they find out she’s alive).

      a) as shown in the teaser for v9, there was no time for anyone else to react to Yang's fall and its absolutely fucking fitting for her romantic interest to be the one that has the reaction to it as is the case in literally EVERY DAMN PIECE OF MEDIA. The tackle also was fully damn fitting given their romantic build status as well as y'know her being right there seeing Yang disappear into the voidspace, then seeing her alive in Ever After.
      b) "obsessed with each other" ROFL, um no. They act as people that have feelings for each other, but in no way does it block out other things or are they up each other's asses. How dare two people that are in love actually want to...spend time and enjoy each other's company
      c) the fact that your ass doesn't get the importance of them crossing into being together goes towards your own ignorance on the subject of LGBT+. Though it is fucking really telling how this shit is pulled out for an LGBT+ pair but not for either Arkos or Renora during their big moments.

    @christscrackers647 Год назад +205

You hit the nail on the head when you talked about how RWBY tends to waste its own time and pacing. The biggest issue with RWBY is that it tries too have moments that seem grand and intrinsic too the overall narrative, but they don't *feel* grand or important. And that's because RWBY wastes a lot of it's own story elements. Whether it be character arcs, plot points, places/moments to explain certain plot points, or giving certain characters build-up but not delivering on any form of information regarding those moments. Bumbleby is the prime example of this.
Bumbleby does have "Chemistry" (Albeit a small amount) but they don't have "Build-Up". Having cute moments of levity does not count as build up towards the narrative outcome of their relationship being canon, it more or less just puts them in semi-cute moments that feel like taking bite sized candies out of a candy bowl when you want a full fucking hershey bar. They want us to buy their relationship and feel invested in their relationship, but it doesn't have the build-up it needs because after volume 6, Blake & Yang don't really tackle any issues or develop as characters. They are pretty much just defined by their lesbian relationship and.... That's it. XP

If Yang were a male and winked at Blake while offering her his first dance; then Blake came to the dance and took him up on that; your ass wouldn't at all try to call it friendly. Or the offer a joke. Yang would be an example of a non-toxic masculine male letting Blake have her fun, instead of being a jealous asshole. But let Yang be a girl and oh no its clearly just friendly and a joke.
No chucklefk, every LGBT+ person I know that saw that and even some non-LGBT+ new gen viewers that don't hetero-lenses welded to their skull that see that scene know exactly what is going on there. They may have had their doubts on if it'd actually lead to something cause of the time being pre-turning the corner on LGBT+ in main stream; but they picked up on what was potentially being setup. Its only hetero chuds that don't see it and try to paint it as "just friends" like every single other LGBT+ pair; cause you're incapable of handling the idea of two women being romantically into each other.

It’s crazy to think that we still say stuff like Blake and Yang needed more time to develop, yet Roosterteeth had a whole 9 volumes to flesh out their relationship and they didn’t make the most of it. This could’ve been a well executed relationship, but because the story was rushed it just feels undercooked overall. My main gripe about BB is what you said about Blacksun. Whether or not you like Blacksun, the way they handled the relationship between Sun and Blake is some of their best character writing between two people (save for slapping the shit out of Sun). I was even happy when sun implied "Being there for her was the goal, not getting together." Because it shows what a good character he is.
To put away that much chemistry and to force BB left a bad taste in my mouth, especially with how big their baggage should've been. I wouldn't dislike the ship as much as I would if not for the fact that they have shown they can write great relationships without having to force it.

Fking Neptune/Weiss, the worst shallowest flimsiest hetero pair in the show isn't given the grief that BB is. Even a more cliche one like WhiteKnight isn't given the same grief. The first having nothing to it but Weiss's having a crush towards Neptune; WK having nothing romantic between them since like v3 but steadily having moments in the background that build something up. Whatever it turns out to be. Ren wasn't finger-gunning Nora or flirting with her openly; nor Jaune towards Pyrrha; but there were emotional bonding moments. What other pairing has that? BB. But which of all those mentioned is bashed by straight incel dipshits? BB. What's the different element? BB is an LGBT+ relationship.
On top of that several homophobic dog-whistles have been hurled at BB that are the exact same ones hurled at EVERY canon LGBT+ pairing. Hell the crossover ones just beween Harlivy, Korrasami, and BB make a picture on their own.
If Yang a dude (and fk the idea of Sun being that cause no the fk he isn't), the argument would COMPLETELY change. It wouldn't be acting like one side was just not valid or ignoring very fking blatant things. For instance: Sun winking at Blake = omg romantic; Yang winking at Blake = oh that's just friends. The EXACT SAME DAMN THING, yet two different things put on them. Why? Because of their gender and it being LGBT+. BB's mountain of actual relationship building would EASILY be seen vs. the anthill that is BS if Yang were male. 3x11 with male-Yang showing up against Adam "nope that 100% makes them endgame!" vs. female-Yang "well it COULD be romantic, but it COULD be just her partner and friend". Because EVERYTHING between same-sex is "friends" and not building to something more than that.
So yeah, there's homophobic double-standard in place; lying; and just existing in some AU-vision of the show that doesn't match reality and canon. Like someone in a different chain on this vid saying how there's so many BS songs, when the only one that comes close is a one-sided (Sun's) feelings recap of v4 in LMFN. Not to mention disgusting ass sexism and bashing of an abuse survivor character like Blake.
BB is a fking near perfect well-done steak to go with the example the originator of this chain put forward. Its just some people have ignorant hetero-lenses on; straight-up homophobia in place; or are just salty assholes that they're hetero pair wasn't forced into happening.

41:05 Here’s the thing… RT has shown before they can write good stories. Hell, Miles was the lead writer for the Chorus Trilogy of RvB, which is seen as one of the best eras of RvB.
And as someone I know said in regards to the two shows:
“RVB... RVB is why I have the high expectations I do for RWBY.
I KNOW they can write compelling characters with mental health issues. David's(Washington) PTSD, Locusts' fear, Felix's narcissism, Sharkface's fixation on revenge.
I KNOW they can write interesting antagonists. Felix, Locust, the Chairman.
I KNOW they can write a couple naturally and make relationships work in ways that make sense. York and Carolina, and Carolina and David (Washington) later on.”
This is why whenever I see how RWBY is handled (especially V3 onwards), I keep wondering what the hell happened? Because while even the first two volumes weren’t particularly well written either, they had charm and were a good setup for what to expect in the future. And then RT didn’t capitalize on that well at all.
Sidenote: Like mentioned with the “red herring” that is Sun (as well as introducing Iilia and changing Adam from him not giving a damn about Blake when she left the Fang to suddenly going on some yandere-type shit), those points make any of the claims by the crew that Blake and Yang were meant to get together from day 1 incredibly doubtful. And I’m sorry, but if someone legitimately believes that when the most vocal supporters of that ship are Blake and Yang’s voice actors themselves, I buy that about as much as I can afford a Bugatti.

If the roles were reversed with Sun and Yang and the exact same things happened with Sun and Blake as they did with Bumbleby, would the shippers still support Sun and Blake getting together as they would Bumbleby? Would they still defend it as they would Bumbleby by saying that the romance between Sun and Blake was "always" there and that it isn't forced under the very same circumstances?
I doubt they would because the writing of how Bumbleby happened was just awful. It was as if the writers wanted to make Bumbleby happen without putting in at least as much work as they did with Sun and Blake and it shows. Sun and Blake's relationship felt natural because a lot of care was put into crafting their time together and they bonded with each other over time. Yang and Blake on the other hand just started flirting with each other out of nowhere starting in Volume 7 after defeating Adam. Because it happened so suddenly without warning, especially since Yang was projecting her abandonment issues with her mom onto Blake and then her grudge against Blake suddenly vanished as if it never existed, it felt unnatural and forced ever since.
Then when people pointed out these facts, it fell on deaf ears with the Bumbleby shippers because they were getting their ship. If it was Sun in the exact same position as Yang, they would change their tune in a heartbeat.
The double standard with the Bumbleby shippers is so irritating because they're willing to look the other way when bad writing lowers the quality of the show as long as they were getting their ship.

I think it's absolutely safe to say that Blacksun was intended to be Blake's endgame romance from the beginning. Subtlety has never been RWBY's strong suit and when they go out of their way to have a slow mo scene where Sun winks at Blake who's left awestruck, and then they continually develop a friendship and a very obvious romance. They spent an entire weekend together at the end of Volume 1, go to the dance together in Volume 2, and Blake blushes at Sun during the tournament in Volume 3. It's all very in your face.
I do not trust RT at all because they're a bunch of scumbags, but just looking at the show and what they're saying it just doesn't make sense. There's no way that Monty's imaginary grand master plan they keep insisting has been their roadmap totally had them go out if their way to waste 5 entire seasons on Blacksun including having music related to them only to rug pull it and suddenly force Blake and Yang together. Barbara and Arryn may have liked the ship but it was clearly never intended. It feels like they only started pandering to it later on. But even then Blake and Sun spend two entire seasons together on Menagerie and include a whole bunch of romantic cliches like meeting the parents, having tension with the dad and the boyfriend, and even getting approval. That's... not what you do with something you apparently didn't have any intention of going forward with at all. Romance is not something you do as a red herring because if you spend half a decade building a romance that's just romantic development. They've just gotten desperate in recent years so they've resorted to what a lot of hacks resort to when they need attention and it's forcing a fandom ship that's not in the show. It's why Sun was ejected from the plot right before they kicked the pandering into overdrive. Because if he was in the same continent as Blake their chemistry and development would completely destroy any attempt to force Blake with Yang.
Blacksun also has more than a passing resemblance to Garnet and Zidane from FFIX and Monty very obviously loved Final Fantasy and took inspiration from it when making RWBY. I don't think it's an accident that Monty had a black haired girl set up for a romance with a blonde monkey boy.

After watching this video, I think my original comment still stands true. But I also believe that many of the flaws with the Bumblebee relationship also effect the plot overall. The kiss exemplifying how it's not the characters of RWBY being in control of the plot and its progress, or even being in control over their own actions. Instead, the plot and writers have destroyed the facade most fiction attempts to build and hold onto. The plot has firm control over the characters like puppets. Blake and Yang only kissed because they had to. They, narratively, did not get the right to choose when and where they would admit their feelings. And even if they had the right to choose in that scene, the world of the Ever After quite possibly would've just kept them imprisoned or killed them anyway. So it's a lose-lose situation no matter what for Blake and Yang
And that issue plagues how most of the characters behave, which affects the plot. Which can overtime effectively destroy ones suspensions of disbelief about the characters and their actions. The believability of the characters you're watching are actually acting on their own begins to decay as a result. Which eventually destroys that suspension of disbelief completely.

@@KaiserShounen My favorite part is a tie between the chapter Emphasis-ness, as well as Time waits for No-RWBY. Both point out 2 other very damaging issues with the show. Those issues being a lack of a deep focus on the shows part, as well how the show has general issues when it comes to use, and lack of use of, time and the passage of time.
While I will say that the series has explored a wide variety of topics, characters, plots, and even the world of RWBY and some of its cultures., the exploration never goes farther then the entrance to said topics. In relation to Blake and Ynag, much of the audience is left to fill in the blanks of a relationship that should be thoroughly explored by the writers, but it isn't because either the writers don't want to mess up what they've created, or they have no idea how to make the journey from friends to romantic partners seem believable and genuine for such a relationship that Blake and Yang share. Much like the writers in that regard, whenever someone praises Blake and Yang for being a couple, much of what I hear is that "the reason Blake and Yang are well written or good is because they are lesbians." Much of the praise never dives deeper into the journey of the characters or how they developed outside of that title of being a lesbian couple. Such a praise is also often cited by defenders as being how haters of the show are bigots because they "hate Blake and Yang for being lesbians."
Both defenders and haters can lean too far into that aspect and lose focus on the actual characteristics and development that Blake and Yang had. This video did well to avoid diving into the rabbit hole of circular arguments that come up whenever anyone brings up the fact that Blake and Yang are lesbians. Such a description doesn't necessarily matter because if any relationship in fiction is handled in a similar way, then most people would probably have a similar reaction of being disappointed by the poor results and surface level exploration of Blake and Yang's relationship, as well as all of the potential such relationship had offered to the narrative and characters that has been largely ignored and lost by the writers, and picked up by fans that want the characters to be explored more in depth.
When it comes to RWBY and the show's handling of time in general, within the show's narrative and outside of the show in production, there's large issues all around. Supposedly, Volume 9 was supposed to have 12 episodes but two were cut because of the crossover justice league movie. There's also a lot of mishandled production overall judging by the statements of ex employees. Meanwhile within the narrative, the audience can only make guesses about how much time passes each volume as well the time that passes between each volume. I guarentee you that if you put 10 random RWBY fans in the same room, each one will have a different idea of how much time has passed between volumes. Also, Jaune playing with the time fruit has caused major questions to develop in regards to the timeline, how Jaune's time travel may have created an infinite loop or paradox, possibly multiple universes, and it may have even put into question the free will of the entire world of Remnant, which harms the stakes of every previous volume as a result. The damage done to those stakes further harming the suspension of disbelief as I mentioned before.

For years I have seen how much discussion surrounding the ship getting degraded as a result of bringing up Blake and Yangs sexuality. It often makes people very very very emotional to the degree that the conversation becomes toxic or overdramatic in some way shape or form. Which is made even worse because no one even knows how to leave these conversations before they get so toxic. And I see this on BOTH SIDES of the equation. And I am sick of it.
As you said, many of my issues with this ship could be applied to sooooooo many non gay relationships in media and no one would have an issue discussing them in a civil manner. Everyone rightfully hates and points out the flaws of Sasuke x Sakura (Naruto), Mark x Amber (invincible) or Marionette and Adrien (Miraculous Ladybug) because they all have the same dumbass problems. And even if I am wrong about all of these different ships including bumblebee, that doesn't distract from the point that we shouldn't be distracted... from the point lol. The point being, the writing. Q.E.D

    • @Number1Rival
      @Number1Rival Год назад +2

@@KaiserShounen On that last bit about not being distracted to the point of ignoring the writing, I've started to see a, from my perspective, new defense emerge about RWBY's writing. As you pointed out with the ships you mentioned, those have similar flaws, similar flaws can be seen in those ships, that also apply to Blake and Yang's. However, a weird defense I've heard from certain individuals about RWBY's writing is "well, the flaws in RWBY are also seen in [insert show or media name here] and that show is seen as good. So RWBY is good now because [Insert show name here] is seen as good."
It's almost like some have given up and resorted to defending the show by saying the flaws in RWBY aren't flaws because those flaws exist in another type of media. But as you mentioned, the point is the writing itself has many flaws and we shouldn't ignore them when discussing other elements, and that we shouldn't neglect how the writing has an impact on most of, if not all of, the elements of RWBY. And yet some are quick to try and say the flaws don't matter because they exist somewhere else, therefore the flaws are canceled out by other works.
However, that argument both ignores and highlights the flaws of RWBY's writing. It ignores the writing by trying to focus attention another shows flaws, while also highlighting both the shows flaws by saying that similar issues occur within both media, and that the writers of RWBY, if they took influence from that work, didn't learn from whatever issues the flaws, of the work they were influenced by, caused later on in the show. Such an argument also neglects that while both RWBY and another work may have the same flaw, they are still flaws within their respective works. A flaw and Blake and Yang's relationship and how it was written may also be a flaw in Adrien and Marrionette's. But that flaw still is a flaw within their respective shows.
It also doesn't discount other issues that much of the writing has when it comes to RWBY. With newer volumes seeming to open up new wounds in older volumes, and older volumes causing issues for the newer ones. With the overall narrative of the series being torn apart by itself in an effort to simultaneously correct and direct the characters along the plot by force, rather than have the characters direct the plot themselves in their own direction like most fictional stories attempt to do with their plots.

The worse part about the confession in hindsight for me after Volume 9 ended is that the Bees don’t add anything to the season outside of that scene, it feels like RT was possessed by Disney with how they handle queer representation in their films and shows where they very often have scenes where they pause the story for a moment between two character to do something romantic or just kiss that adds nothing and can easily be cut off just in the case the higher ups don’t like it at all and want it removed then it’s an easy “fix”. Which bothers me a lot personally.
Honestly with each person I’ve come across talking about the Bees discussion back in 2019 and was a Twitter user is slowly starts to sound like person’s personal war story because how bad it was back then from all sides, I was there back then and shit was horrifying with the amount that went down alongside the death threats and the other big dramas at the time like one of the VA getting doxed, the Adam war, a drawing of Blake and Yang being cut up and using the parts to a form a bee drama (The artist apologised for it, I believe) and I think 2019 was the beginning of the Vic drama or at least when it came more known…yeah, 2019 was a very different time that I much rather forget. 😅

Namely having a Yang meeting Ghira and Kali in Vacuo and them loving her; Blake meeting Tai & maybe Raven at some point; and even far far in the future serving as a symbol as the head of the reformed WF of a human/faunus pairing where neither cares what the other is and they treat each other as equals. It shuts down any ideas that Sun is going to return and suddenly get with Blake or there was going to be some dumbass love triangle. Cause yes, there were still people thinking that'd be the case; now its concretely shutdown.
Um no, any issues between them were already addressed between Yang's convo with Weiss in 5x08 explaining Blake's perspective in things and the full dialogue during the fight with Adam and post it where Blake promises not to up and leave again. There's no reason to lessen the beauty of that scene in order to rehash old shit. Also yeah, positive things cause no two people in love shouldn't be hurling barbs or taking shots at one another. Would this be a thing aimed at BS if it were canon instead? It sure as hell wasn't aimed at either Renora or Arkos. Its singularly aimed at BB.
Words of the writers & crew, the show's canon, Monty's own brother who works on the show, and behind the scenes hot-mic moments = it being 10 years in the making.
The reality is that BB goes forward as a couple, which is not skippable in itself. And means the world to fucking LGBT+ people. As well as allowing Arryn to go off on her captaining, like saying how the bow scene back in v2 was ick to her; and restating that BB was always the plan and was beautifully done without a shred of her former neutrality. Both her and Barb are now free to celebrate BB and shout to the skies that they're girlfriends. When Sun comes back into the show it'll be to pop the biggest party poppers for his friends finally getting together. And once Nora figures out who she is as an individual Renora can join BB as the gold tier relationships of the show. There is a TON of things that BB's canon changes, but most immediately is shutting off any delusional ideas of BS still being a possibility.

This video pretty much perfectly encapsulates my feelings on Bumblebee, as someone who loved the ship and shipped them myself. However i didn't want them to just randomly get together for no reason. ESPECIALLY when they basically put Blake and Sun together almost as explicitly as fuckin Pyhrra and Juane. I think the bridge scene is a perfect representation of the ship. It was forced based completely on random made up bs. it's a large part of why I have such a love hate relationship with RWBY, it had so much potential it hurts, but seemingly at every turn they pick the literal worst option or way to do something.

  • @Number1Rival
    @Number1Rival Год назад +33

I can already sense that this video is going to recieve attention from both prominant sides of the discussion. So, before I continue watching this video, I will state my subjective opinions about Blake and Yang's relationship, as well as my opinions that are as unbiased as I can possibly be.
Subjectively, I don't mind Blake and Yang as a couple. Romance isn't my main focus when watching or reading a narrative I'm interested in so their romance didn't really grab my attention in anyway. It may also be due to the shift torwards more polotically progressive relationship that has numbed my reception of the two to the point where I'm neither shocked nor unsurprised that they got together. As one commenter said, "they've been a thing since Volume 2." I disagree with that personally and would rather say it was friendship, not a romantic relationship yet, in which another defender of the show said in a Reddit post he copied and pasted as his response to this video which he has yet to watch yet, and will watch when he has time. Blake and Yang is a cute ship, and arguably at the top of fan favorite lists for RWBY fandom members. However, if someone else likes another ship, that is fine. As for me, romance comes near last in terms of what I consider important for a story like RWBY's. I consider the progression of the characters, the set up and progression of the world, and the story of the world, as well as how the pacing of the story and character progression exists within the world. All of that however must also follow along in what is considered to be logically qnd nerratively consistent by rhe standards of fictional writing. In simple terms, the characters and world of RWBY must follow within a set of guidelines, and logical rules, that are set up and created by the writer. If romance comes into play, then I'll take it into consideration of how I judge a characters progression.
Objectively, Bumblebee is a narrative mess. The kiss scene in Volume 9 being a great example of how and why writers really shouldn't do copy and past jobs, because we now have Blake and Yang copying the actions of the Kissing Booth episode of Star vs the Forces of Evil, bur with even more terrinle direction and handling of the characters, with the stakes of the characters fates being jacked up to eleven. I mean, what healthy reason do you know of in fiction, that hasn't been thrown criticism within recent years, in which two love interests are under threat of the narrative equivalent of a gun to the back if their heads, and are told by a higher power, or in Blake x Yang's case the world of the Ever After, to kiss and admit they love each other, or face your presumed deaths? The issues with their pairing don't end there. The relationship has also led to the faltering of other relationships being built up and stalled. Ruby and Yang barely talk to each other like actual characters anymore, Blake had very little interaction with any of her team members besides Yang even when Weiss would make more sense to converse with, because Blake presunably wants to help Weiss in improving Faunus relations with the Schnee Dust Company in irder to help stop the violence between the two. There's also the matter that Blake and Yang never got the chance to naturally explore or talk about rheir feelings. They were put under threat of presumably death and told by the Ever After "Kiss or die.' No one can argue against that interpretation either because the show and writers explicitly show us that unless Blake and Yang admit their feelings, they are trapped or they may even fall into the presumed death pit of storms below them. Their relationship was literally forced onto them by the world, so any scenes in which they could naturally discuss how they feel, which could've led to even more Bumblebee moments for fans of their ship, as well as more efficiently flesh out their relationship. It would've possibly even provided character progression to the two, allowing them to also have a discussion with their fellow team mates asking them "do you accept us in this relationship?" which could've led to team RWBY going through a plot in which they discuss how their team work could be effected positivity, or negatively, by such a change.
Blake and Yang's relationship could've offered so much more than it has, and yet if I'm stuck here talking about what could've happened, then I will fail about talking about what did happen. What happened wasn't romance. It wasn't even up to par with fanfiction, crack or noncrack fanfiction. It was fanservice. A rotten misused carrot on a stick used by the writers to get fans of progressive politics, as well as those that genuinely liked the relationship Blake and Yang had, to watch the show in order finalky find out whether Blake and Yang would commit or they would not.
But as someone else said, they've been a thing since Volume 2. So what was the point? It couldn't have been about the journey because the journey of these two is so contradictory to the show's main messages of team work and the themes. It couldn't have been about the destination because the destination, the kiss scene, is so poorly executed writing wise that any marriage counselor would be salivating at the chance of how many times Blake and Yang would need to take counseling in order to keep themselves in a solid and healthy relationship.
So what is Bumblebee? What is the point? Why does it matter? Simple. Everyone, both critics and defenders come back for it. Coming back to see how far they've progressed means you're probably paying a service fee to view the show as a whole, which boosts watch time, which boosts revenue.
In other words, as I said before, Blake and Yang are fanservice. They are like an advertisement in a cyberpunk dystopian future. They're nothing more than a device being used to make money. After all, if the writers are so progressive, why hasn't any other ships like Blake and Yang's have as much screen time? For example the White Rose ship. Why hasn't that had the same progression or even screen time? Why hasn't that received the same amount of focus? Why hasn't relationships like Blake and Yang's received the same amount of focus, or focus in general within the main show?
Simple answer is that it didn't make as much of an estimated profit as Blake and Yang did. Conforming to fan expectations and wants is one thing, but their ship has come at a cost of the narrative strength of every bit of structure in the writing of RWBY. But it hurt the characters, character relationships and the progression of charactersand their relationships, especially of Blake and Yang's own relationship, most of all.
No one should have to seek out fanfiction that attempts to make sense and provide development of a canonical relationship like Blake and Yang's, or even just the general relationships between characters as a whole outside or romantic ones. Those should've been in the show itself but it mostly isn't, or are poorly done in the show's current presented form.
So I disagree with the title of this video. It isn't too little, to late. It's so little and so broken it makes almost no sense.
So enjoy the carrot, the kiss, or whatever, if anything surrounding them and their relationship, happens next. While they have the outline of a relationship, that's only on the terms of the plot's control. Not the characters. Blake and Yang, narratively, did not get the chance to develop their relationship naturally. The plot, the Ever After, the world threatened them into one.
And the shippers and reactors ate up that abuse by the world, and forcing of the characters into a relationship, and said "at last, they are together." Or "finally, they are together."
To qoute Ozymandias: "I met a traveller from an antique land,
Who said-'Two vast and trunkless legs of stone
Stand in the desert. . . . Near them, on the sand,
Half sunk a shattered visage lies, whose frown,
And wrinkled lip, and sneer of cold command,
Tell that its sculptor well those passions read
Which yet survive, stamped on these lifeless things,
    The hand that mocked them, and the heart that fed;
And on the pedestal, these words appear:
    My name is Ozymandias, King of Kings;
Look on my Works, ye Mighty, and despair!
Nothing beside remains. Round the decay
Of that colossal Wreck, boundless and bare
The lone and level sands stretch far away.'”
Look upon the crumbling characterization of main characters of RWBY, and look beyond it to see the endless stretching abyss of character shipping that lays beyond. Look upon the actual writing worn away by the ignorence of its own writers and fandom, and look upon the people attempting to recover and analyze it, with almost nothing left unburied by biased feelings and frustrations of both sides.

True indeed. While due to my own personal experiences and history I don't like BB as a ship, if it was written better while I still wouldn't like it, I could have still bought into it. But the writing has been all over the place. So many wasps have attacked myself and others for simply wishing for a better written story/better written character interactions. I've brought up the issue of Yang's character arc in Vol. 8 not making any sense because she's more worried about Blake than the sister she just had an argument with, and folks just seem to want to bury their heads in the sand. A relationship romantic or otherwise IMO should serve the story, especially between main characters. But like you said, this felt like the writers were trying to speedrun on Critical Mode. I just hope that one day in the future, a rewrite project is taken up and this story gets fleshed out and gets the care and development it deserves.
But until then, we just keep moving forward. Creating our own ideas, writing our own stories, and improving ourselves as people and as creatives. Props to you for the work you clearly put into this video. Very well done.

Blake and Yang could've just walked along the rope to reach the platform in the middle. They didn't need the wooden planks at all. They're both perfectly capable huntresses in tip top physical shape. They've done MUCH grander feats in fight scenes, so why the fuck did they not just grab the rope and inch along to the platform???

I love Bumblebee as a ship, though I agree that it could have been built up MUCH better. I am glad they are finally canon. That said, I HATE how this came about.
One of the most important parts of a CONFESSION scene is the RISK one of the characters takes by putting themselves in that vulnerable position and laying their own feelings bare with no guarantee that their desired partner feels the same way. THIS confession has none of that. This is actually not too unique as there are plenty of shows and stories where another character or a slip of the tongue will expose one or both of the characters feelings without them taking that risk, but this usually has a major connection to a third character or to the overall plot, or is at least a significant moment of comedy (or in some cases many moments). This confession is forced by a DEUS EX MACHINA PUNDERSTORM which comes out of LITERALLY NOWHERE.
They didn't even do the incredibly basic step of name dropping a Punderstorm during Blake's rundown of what happened to Alyx in the Ever After. It would have been so easy to just have her say "got caught in a punderstorm" after meeting the curious cat. The writers just decided "time for these two to get together" and because they are the gods of this world that world spontaneously invents a new weather feature to make it happen.
Literally take the dialogue of that confession scene in the Punderstorm and set it at any point while they are in Atlas or once they arrive in Vacuo with literally any decent logic on how to get into that scene and it would work and be an improvement.
Their reunion after the team split would be a wonderful time for them to realize that they think of them as more than just friends, or maybe Illia and her confession makes Blake realize what she feels for Yang. That's a CHARACTER MOMENT, not a world mechanic.

Funny, I actually had a reaction to this scene. It wasn't out of rage or anything like that, but it was most certainly.... Different from everyone else.
And I believe this RUclips quote that I've grown found of over the years perfectly encapsulates what I felt during this moment:
"There comes a time in all forms of media consumption where you are so utterly bewildered by an event taking place, that there are so many things wrong with it, you don't have words and you simply laugh. When I saw this sequence for the first time, I wished I had recorded it. I burst out laughing, struggling to compose myself, as I was fundamentally blown away at what in the world I was seeing. And the kicker? I wasn't even entirely sure of why. It's like so many issues cascade on your brain at once; you are overwhelmed, and you couldn't possibly pass it out in the amount of time you have left before something utterly ridiculous happens on top of what you just saw. So that's why we have videos like the one you are listening to now; to have a moment to think, to collect information and lay out what happened. Because... What The F*ck?"

This honesty puts to words to what I feel about Bumblebee. I was never really a fan as I felt like there wasn't any reason for them to be a couple. I thought it was one of those ships that people ship because they think its cute or see the charm in that i never really saw. We barely got a feel for Yang's character during the first two volumes other than she's a brawling party-girl who's looking for someone and the older sister of Ruby, and half of it is what we get from the trailer. I felt like i was a little harsh on the show because they could only do so much at the start of the series and I haven't really rewatched the show since they first came out. So I thought my biases was showing when I was upset when the couple became canon. I kind of let it go because I thought I was apart of the minority who still largely prefers Blacksun. I mean, I ship Rosegarden and bar from a few conversations and sharing parallels of their journeys, I know that I can reach sometimes and overestimate the abilities of RWBY's crew. Thankfully, I'm not but I still have mixed feelings about the ending of the series.

I know this video is a lil old but I just want to say thank you! I was actually a really big BMBLB shipper back when I actively was still following the show. I shipped them because after the end of Volume 3 I REALLY wanted to see them reconnect and learn to forgive one another. I wanted to see that slow burn, I wanted to see them slowly become friends again and then realize how much that moment really impacted them and how much they mean to one another. But Nah, instead of giving them fleshed out scenes and genuinely strong and long overdue character interactions they just make them flirt with eachother all the time 😮‍💨 Something that was such a big deal for me for years after watching Volume 3 wasnt treated very seriously by the writers at all! It was just so skimmed over in favor of unfunny gags and cringe behavior (when they blush and get all flirty out of no where it makes my skin crawl, like where TF did that come from!!!??) Not to mention even though I shipped it I respected the relationship that Blake had developed with Sun and I understood that was what the writers and Monty probably wanted from the start, but then that whole sublop gets scrapped too and now Sun is nonexistent??? Aaaahhhh!! 😫 They messed it up so bad!

I tend to be more generous when it comes to Bumblebee shippers, as I firmly believe it's just a loud minority of people that are the toxic ones most meet. I rather believe that the show has just worn down some fans to the point of saying "at last, they kissed" instead of saying "oh yes, they kissed."
There are also others I genuinely believe were happy and enjoyed the kiss. And I wouldn't assume they don't care about the characters. Rather that they just don't see or acknowledge the flaws in the same way someone like myself might. And that's fine.
Does this mean I agree with those that say the kiss scene is good? No, I still think the scene fails to hold itself up or even live up to what people were expecting. The scene could've been salvaged somewhat, but wasn't. To add insult to injury, the way their relationship is written and handled is filled with lack of downtime, lack of communication, lack of actual acknowledgement of these two characters getting through or discussing their shared and individual trauma, and also alot of other relationships being reduced to atoms for the sake of progressing Bumblebee.
Strangely enough though, most of the issues aren't due to Blake. Yang seems to be the catalyst for a lot of issues instead.

Personally I always preferred black sun and my biggest issue with Bees was the fact that they gave us two volumes where the only previously existing character blake had to interact with was sun, only for them to just abruptly toss all the V1-5 buildup out the window to cram in a pairing that had no real in-universe buildup just because it was popular with twitter.
As for the vid itself; The "Fuck bees" had me rolling won't lie.

  • @TheGreenAzumarill

I agreed with practically the entire thing. It summed up my exact thoughts on the ship and why it bugged me soooo much. Like I also don't mind the ship itself, that's fine. I'm personally a BlackSun shipper, but BMBL never bothered me. But then you look at how it was handled during the show and it's so disappointing. If you wanted it done from the beginning, don't spend 5 volumes building up Sun and giving him the time of Blake's character development and then just ditch him suddenly in favor of Yang while forgetting the build up. The moments in V7-8 you summed up my feelings on them that I couldn't put into words. V7's moments felt fine, but try-hard and not subtle, almost shoehorned in, and you hit the nail on the head for why the V8 Chapter 4 scene bugged me so much. It should have been about Ruby, it would have given the conflict from chapter 1 the attention it warranted and deserved. Whenever I brought this point up, the point I'd immediately be met with is "It ties in with her abandonment issues since Blake went with Ruby," in which my response to that is "One, that's not nearly as interesting as focusing on Yang's relationship with her own sister that she cares so much for, and two, if that's what you want to go with, FOCUS on it. Blake had such little presence in that argument. It wasn't about her. So when Yang made that moment about Blake later on, it annoyed me so much. As is, they have such little chemistry and their dynamic is way too weak to be compelling. Hell, it's opened my eyes of the far stronger dynamics in the show. Blake and Sun, Ruby and Oscar, even Weiss and Jaune have showcased a far better example of a slow burn than BMBL has.
The one point I will rebuff though is in V9 the confession scene, there are two ways to escape a Punderstorm: Either solve the problem, or wait for the storm to pass. Jaune said so himself. So if they didn't want to address it, they could just wait for the storm to be over instead. Granted that wouldn't be good storytelling, but I thought I'd point it out as it was neglected in this video. Otherwise, great retrospective.

    • @Number1Rival
      @Number1Rival Год назад +5

Well there is one way that the writers could've atleast made the confession/kiss scene go over smoother with everyone, while also adding an additional moment for Bumblebee fans to enjoy. If Blake and Yang simply had a talk to go over and discuss what happened on the bridge, then I would not only personally like the scene more, but it would also allow the characters to show further development in a relationship besides getting to the kiss.
This may have been the plan as well. As Volume 9 was supposedly going to have 2 additional episodes, but 2 episodes were cut because of the crossover with the Justice League that began production during the productions of episodes 7 and/or 8 of Volume 9.

Thanks for watching the video, however I would like to point out that in regards to your V9 point, Blake and Yang DID NOT know about how to pass the Punderstorm. Jaune stated this AFTER they were caught in it. So for all the two knew, they could potentially die if they did not reach that platform, which degrades the very scene that's supposed to have them come together

If you want my opinion on what happened, I do not believe Bumblebee was a thing since the start. In fact, I'm of the mindset that they weren't even considered for the RWBY team until perhaps Vol. 4 or 5, because up until that point, there was NO romantic chemistry between these two characters. They were friends, that was for certain, but I got no such stronger feelings. And as for why I think they did this; it was to earn brownie point. They wanted to please a certain group of RWBY fans that were focused on shipping, and for some reason, the fans liked this pair. So, they would rush this development in order to gain their praise. And I know there's people out there who will think I'm against gay couples. Let me say this: if they had built it up well from Season 1, showing us more interactions between them and how they bond strengthened over time, I'd be all for it. But if there's one thing I hate in any media, it's a rushed romantic sub plot. As a writer, this is something I try avoiding myself, usually by showing their development throughout the story. If you want an affective romantic pay off, you cannot rush it. If you do you end up with Bumblebee or KorraXAsami. It's just bad storytelling and I expected better from the RWBY team.

From FatmanFalling's Volume 2, review regarding the mech fight and the ship names:
"Ok, so let me talk strategy for a second, because this is a really dumb fight scene. Right here we see that [the mech's] 360 degree laser targeting system is thrown off by a little steam...[then] Blake and Yang run around in circles until Torchwick targets the very point that Ruby is going to launch from. Which is just bad teamwork. Then each pair does a combo attack so Miles and Kerry get to shout out a bunch of ship names for some reason. But the only pair that doesn't have a team attack is Ruby and Yang. Speed and strength would arguably be the most effective combo against [Torchwick's mech], and if you think using your brain, the two characters who would spend most of their free time practicing tandom attacks together would probably be fucking sisters. But I guess [the writers] didn't want to promote the idea of fucking sisters now did they."
the classroom scene with Blake and Yang:
"So in the same sense that Volume 1 was mainly about giving Ruby an initially antagonistic relationship with [Weiss] only to eventually warm up to her once [Weiss] learned how racist she was, the main thrust of Volume 2 is to mercilessly tease all the people who ship Blake and Yang. And I suppose that entails Yang telling Blake her childhood story completely unprovoked. But at least she offers the story as a sort of ultimatum. Anyway, the gist of the story is that Taiyang Xiao Long is a horrible father."
Two minutes later: "What are they taking about now?"
Yang:"If Roman Torchwick walked through that door, what ould you do [Blake]?"
"[Blake] would probably kick his ass without breaking a sweat. Just like you did the last time you fought him, and that was before your first semester of huntsman training, so [Yang and Blake] are better now, right?
Yang: "You'd lose! You can't even stop me!"
"Well Yang, you did destroy a military grade mech with one hit, so you're significantly more powerful than Blake. I don't even think it's a fair comparison to make."
Fatmanfalling's Volume 3 review regarding the shipping scene in the arena with team JNPR:
"Though much like the last fight, the whole enemy team just stood in a single file line waiting to get hit for one massive elimination. That's because a large chunk of the section of this fight was dedicated to doing the thing they tried to do last volume."
RWBY Audio commentary track: "In Volume 2, Monty really wanted to do the team attack names as kind of a shout out to shippers. When Monty does it, it's cool. It's not as cool when Jaune does it."
Fatmanfalling: "You mean suck? Yes that's exactly what I mean. Because while team JNPR is discussing who exactly gets shipped with who...[the opposing fighters] all politely [waited for] their turn to attack. [The opposing sniper] Mao Ze Dong, no relation, could easily get a headshot on [Pyrrha]. She fired a warning shot at Ren, and failed two clean headshots at Pyrrha. Maybe it's because [the sniper] has enough respect to not take advantage of the situation, as it would be unfair to gain the upper hand on your opponent because they literally forgot what they were doing."
Kerry: "I'm not good at a lot of memory related things."
Opposing huntsman team member: "We're in the middle of a fight!"
It's like the shipping, from the start, always got in the shows way, or made very little logical sense in regards to characters. I mean, you could take away the fact that Ruby and Yang are sisters entirely out as a detail, and nothing of value would be lost. In fact, it would improve how Ruby and Yang's relationship is viewed because they don't act like sisters or fight like sisters. Most of the time, it seems like they barely know each other outside of having the same dentist.

I still don't understand how anyone can look at the actual show and then decide they're a good couple based on its depiction.
There are definitely fan works that do the ship correctly, but Blake and Yang, as they are portrayed for the vast majority of RWBY; have little to no chemistry whatsoever, and they bring out and amplify each other's worst traits in the worst ways.
That's without even touching on the fact that the show does a good job of portraying better alternatives for both characters. Without even trying, really.
EDIT: The relationship between Team RWBY not being fleshed out fully is the biggest issue of Volumes 1-3, easily. Like, despite the fact that Ruby is supposedly meant to be the titular character, she has criminally little screen time with any member of RWBY other than Weiss in the first three volumes. Including Yang, a character who's core defining character trait in Volume 1 is supposed to be her overprotectiveness towards Ruby.
And don't even get me started on how little screen time Blake and Ruby have together. As one of the five people who ship Ladybug, it's painful to think about.

And while I will say Blake and Ruby do need more interactions then what we see, watching the writers miss the gold mine of character growth and study that is Weiss and Blake's friendship is also just extremely frustrating.
The writers basically have a team that they can fully explore the ins and outs of, even more so the JNPR, and they do almost nothing when it comes to exploring Team RWBY and the relationship they have as a team, as pairs, and now as at least one couple.

It's why I was hoping Volume 9 would actually have team RWBY be forced out of their comfort zones and have to bond and talk as a team. However, as soon as Blake said "getting everyone out of Atlas has to count for something" in episode 6, I knew Volume 9 wouldn't have team RWBY learn or grow from the massive strategical, tactical, and logistical fuck up that was Atlas.

So not even getting into whether Blake and Yang themselves work as a couple, or how I feel about them as characters, I want to throw my own opinion in: I don't like when main characters form a canon romantic relationship midway through a series, because generally I find that it's either a sign that, A, the writers are going to write a messy breakup to cause chaos and drama for ratings, B, they don't know what to do with the characters being romanced, so they're in a romance because it gives them something to do, or C, one will be damseled to give the other more motivation. Option C is technically an offshoot of B, as it comes from the writers not knowing what to do.
I'm not saying that this is what will happen, it's just what I see the most. Especially the breakup option. It's what Legend of Korra did, it's what Young Justice did, and it's what I suspect RWBY will do.

@@StoogesFan nah i think they made bumblebee cannon was because of a desperate "attempt" to redeem themselves. after Volume 8 people started to realize how terrible of a company roosterteeth actually is(the racisim, underpaying and overworking the employees ETC. go to The Judgemental Critter's video on "My thoughts on RoosterTeeth and RWBY Volume 9" for more info). with all that come to light i think CRWBY were desperate to keep the show up as they know RWBY's their main mascot by doing "hey bumblebee's cannon now". again its my personal opinion

I just can't bring myself to watch RWBY no matter how much I want to.
All those little things and even some big things just make it painful to look at.

tbh Yangs and Blake realtionship is more important than anything else that happens in Rw-by they might as well makes a spin off starting as Yang and Blake as the main characters

No oh god no. They should never do that. It makes no sense on why these characters would have any feelings for one another giving everything we know about these two. It also damages the team because there supposed to be have a sisterly relationship but because of this shipped is so broken and it ruin the characters and there relationship like ruby and yang. It so infuriating with just how rt and the writers destroy these characters it actually insulting, disrespectful and disgusting

@@oscarborjajr1176 I know it's bad ,but it's at this point BB is their money maker why else the reason Arron and Barbara make a inappropriate video is too push BB because shipping sells, they know RT is not making enough sales , why not go all out they even got ugly merch for it
Yang and Blake are gonna be the only thing that Rw-by is know for and that's sad

How? The episode that made them canon also showed how little these two contribute to the story...
RT literally took them out of the plot, and the story moved forward.
The episode unintentionally revealed that these 2 characters have nothing to contribute except to sell merchandise.

i understand the sentiment. I had this with a lot of things. Spiderman for example (andrew garfield) came to me at just the right time. Even if probably 90% of people hated it. Same thing here. If for someone out there felt that this was something that they needed to see. Good for them. A respectable view point from you. Great video my friend

I would normally ask you how many years you haven't watched the show, but even if you haven't watched the show since Volume 8, you still may have a lot of catching up to do with Volume 9 due to RWBY volumes are filled to the point of bursting.
