Even though I have only been playing for two years now, I devote all my free time to the piano. I believe it’s the only way to improve. There are still many concepts I struggle with but I feel that I have improved and see where I’ll improve in the future. I have never had any formal lessons. Everything has been RUclips videos. I think my biggest weakness is not going high enough on the keys, not digging in or not rotating my wrist enough. Moving my elbow out away from my body and keeping the wrist straight. There are many techniques I need to work on.
I probably need to learn scales also. I never take the time since I’m always trying to learn songs. Once again I always enjoy your content. Each week is a treat to see what you will post next

I decided to revist this classic. I tried to learn it a year ago and it proved to difficult for my skill level at the time. A year later, and after watching many of your tutorials, I feel confident enough to give it another go. Thanks for everything you have taught me, Nate. I rarely watch any other channels. None of them have the production quality, the step by step instructions nor do they post the chords up or explain the timing. Also, none of them let you download the lyrics with the chords. I have found in my limited time with the piano is that it is all about timing. Someone can give you the chords and the words but if you dont know the dynamics or when to play a chord to the lyric in the song then it makes no sense. Its all about rhythm

When I find myself in times of trouble
    Mother Mary comes to me
    Speaking words of wisdom
    Let it be
And in my hour of darkness
She is standing right in front of me
    Speaking words of wisdom
    Let it be
Let is be, let it be
Let it be, let it be
    Whisper words of wisdom
    Let it be
    And when the brokenhearted people
    Living in the world agree
    There will be an answer
    Let it be
For though they may be parted
There is still a chance that they will see
    There will be an answer
    Let it be
Let is be, let it be
Let it be, let it be
Yeah, there will be an answer
    Let it be
Let is be, let it be
Let it be, let it be
    Whisper words of wisdom
    Let it be
Let is be, let it be
Let it be, yeah, let it be
    Whisper words of wisdom
    Let it be
And when the night is cloudy
There is still a light that shines on me
    Shine on 'til tomorrow
    Let it be
I wake up to the sound of music
    Mother Mary comes to me
    Speaking words of wisdom
    Let it be, yeah
Let it be, let it be
Let it be, yeah, let it be
Oh, there will be an answer
    Let it be
Let it be, let it be
Let it be, yeah, let it be
    Whisper words of wisdom
    Let it be

Thankyou so much Nate, always wanted to play instruments but being autistic and adhd its always been hard for me to pick up, I'm a trans man and before I transitioned had spent 12 odd years working extremely hard to train to sing musical numbers etc as a soprano and when I finally decided I had to transition my heart has been absolutely broken as my voice has dropped and I've lost the ability to sing. Music has always been my outlet especially growing up in an abusive home I would have my headphones in all the time and when things got really bad I'd run away and sing in the bush or wherever to feel better
I'm going to retrain myself to sing in my new lower range eventually but while my voice is still dropping its made me so happy to learn piano. I've already learnt hallelujah off you and look forward to learning this too!
From the very bottom of my heart thankyou so much for this gift of music and expression ❤️🫂🙏🏻

Nate so glad I found your channel. I love your teaching style and the confidence you enthuse into my playing. I am classically-trained and this is something we are never taught as I am sure you are totally aware. So it's really significant to learn this way.
I was always very envious of all my friends who had never taken a piano lesson in their lives or were able to read music and could just play the songs. I used to get angry with myself spending hours and really slogging away learning to read and then interpret music transferring that onto the keyboard which didn't always work out well lol!
Just learning the little flourishes or at least in my case learning how to put them into the song is what I need to be focusing on and I think I would have cracked the code so to speak.
Thank you so much Nate. Did you say that you have a chord course where you teach the flourishes and scaling songs up to a more professional-sounding cover?
Have subscribed and will certainly be following you now that I have found your channel.

@@PianowithNate It certainly does resonate - Understatement. I just wish Traditional teachers would have included this within their syllabi.
I feel this would keep more students interested and also, those such as myself; would ensure that you can play and not get frustrated by classical songs which are nigh-on impossible to play unless you do nothing else but practise at concert level all day.
Unfortunately not many people have that luxury and give up a long the way as I did some years later.
The kind words are sincerely meant. Can't wait to see what's to come. A very Merry Christmas and a happy New Year to you and yours.

Thanks for the kind words! Good suggestion, I have actually taught Blackbird on guitar to many a guitar student! I'll consider it, it would indeed be a little tricky to translate to piano with the chord based approach, but I will explore it and see how it feels.

Great tutorial Nate. Thanks a lot. How do you use the pedal in the F* C* part ?

Great question! As you probably discovered...it sounds muddy if you hold it down. So I don't. Just keep it lifted for that part...if you use the fingering I teach so that every note is a smooth, legato step into the next, it should sound plenty smooth without the pedal. Cheers!

Thanks! I'm going through your course right now and wanted to see what all you have on here. I like the way you teach and build the song up, really makes it understandable. Love the Beatles stuff. Also would be interested in Your Song or Daniel by Elton as well as Desperado by Eagles.

Hi Mark! Those are awesome suggestions, putting them on my list. I am curious, because most people find my course through the tutorials here and not the other way around: how did you find out about the piano chord breakthroughs?

@@PianowithNate I think I initially started with a video (saved it but didn't really try it) and got on your mailing list. After my coaching season, I started on the course as I wanted a better base to get started. I'm on the inversion chapter and was just curious what your youtube videos were like so finally watched on in detail to see how it was compared to the course. I'm no natural, but with you stepping through it, I'm making progress on the inversion chapter song as well as this one now.
