yeah i heard it thinking "this has to be new" and saw 2014, wow, and also realized its a speech from a 1970s movie The Network lol We still have time to create the 1980s technocracy ... a decade isnt needed, we can do it in a generation... art comes and goes but the 1980s style was classic and we can return to it... the secret was that we had alien technology at the highest levels of government and corporate life so it was no wonder people were zooming along in their deloreans on cocaine , you would be to if you had actual star trek technology in the 1980s

This is such a badass album, from the first second onward it just oozes atmosphere. I really can't thank Hotline Miami enough for introducing me to the synth genre itself and to Perturbator especially.

Been listening to Perturbator for over a year now. I traveled quite a bit in that time...from northern B.C. to Cali and eventually across to Montreal in a Black 1985 Caprice Classic. On the dark nights where I pushed myself to drive extremely long distances, Perturbator made those distances into some of the best memories I've ever had. Opened my mind to a whole new world of music. Thank you James Kent! You're an inspiration for us all!
This is so good, just a remarkable sound. I like perturbator because he is dark, yet very classy. The music is aggressive, yet sophisticated. Amazing musician!
Him, together with Carpenter Brut, are amazing. And I think both of them are signed to metal labels as well, because they didn't really fit anywhere else.

It's from the movie Network. He's a news anchor who gets so mad he threatens to kill himself on live TV, and the network plays it up for ratings until he starts riling up the populace, then, uh, they have him killed. Spoilers for this 1976 film I guess.

The New Black is the most underrated Perturbator song ever. Even if it's just an intro. It sets the mood of the whole album so well.
The more the time passes, the more this intro makes sense.
This is the soundtrack of dystopia. And I love it.
As a child of the 80's, I think this is great. First time I've been interested in "new" music in a long time.
have you heard night club? they do the sound track for a comedy cartoon called moonbeam city(they use stupid humour to get laughs though) that looks like somthing out of the 80s

This dude and Carpenter Brut are probably my favourite synthwave artists. Not only the beats are always awesome, but the songs, by way of their writing seem to tell an amazing story.

When I remember listening to this album years and years ago now, I remember hearing everything perfectly. I cannot understand the words now, or the dB range, complex sounds. Basically I'm just deaf now. If only I could hear again, but I'm trying to relive some of my old favorites before I completely lose all hearing.

PERFECT description of October 2020! I have green eyes too, so I can relate to the gentleman in the image. He seems to have dropped his name tag in the middle there, but that hasn't stopped him from making new buddies. One of which is a cat!

When I first heard this album 9-10 years ago, it made me nostalgic for my childhood. When I listen to it now, it makes me nostalgic for the time period when I first listened to it. It's a nostalgia within a nostalgia.

As a child of the 80s I miss these dark airy and wet by the dew of the night dark alley meetings with shapeshifting shadows and fast circuitry glowing cars.
You'd be one of those test subjects that doesn't make it in a futuristic time machine

The Guest has a couple of Perturbator tracks. Along with Sisters of Mercy and Clan of Xymox. On of the best soundtracks I've heard in a movie.

Just started listening to this! I thought I would never hear anything like Noise Unit - Decoder, this is the closest it can get to that but much harder. Awesome music!
Still relevant to today's world. Sick beats!! for a SICK world.
Music is but melody and percussion. What makes "Retrogenesis" and much of this genre of music it seems, is the completely novel blending of the lines between the two. What's more remarkable to me is the clear celebration of the sound of synth itself. With thoughtful appreciation of where its traveled in time.
