  • This is a review of the Schumacher SC1564 2/6/30/100-Amp 6/12-Volt Charger which is very similar to the SC1281. This charger will charge Lithium-Ion batteries and will Desulfate sulfated batteries. It does have a boost and engine start feature also. It will maintain with the float mode.

Hello, excelent review. Do you know if the jump start feature works with a 6 Volts battery or just with 12 volts battery in the car? Thanks.

The manual says it has auto voltage detection for charging and in the jump start section it never mentions 6 or 12v.

I have a similar charger as your old one.. It had some kind of circuit breaker on the incoming plug line, that kept tripping and causing me issues-- so I just took it apart and bypassed that safety breaker, so now it's more of a brute force type of charger. I don't hook it up and walk away for hours anymore-- but it is still very useful.

Mine won't charge my lithium past 12.8, they're supposed to go to 14V. Does it have an equalizer?

It does work but I have noticed you can't trust it to keep it connected long term. I connected it to a battery that was sitting on my workbench and a couple days later when I was out in the shop I went to disconnect it and the battery was so hot I couldn't touch it and what electrolyte was still left was completely boiling. The charger is supposed to drop down to a maintainer.

Let me get this correct, it has to be plugged in? To función? It’s not portable

Yes it is a battery charger not a jump pack.

Do you guys know if it can charge a dead battery? I find that these new chargers don't charge it automatically and go into a trickle desulfation mode.

I am not sure, I know what you mean a lot of chargers if the voltage isn't detected at a certain level will not start the charge cycle. I am not sure if this one will or not.

Dead cells. New battery needed. Batteries have internal parts that when damaged/worn won't allow it to perform properly. Period...

Just for info. I have a 45 ah vmax lithum ion 12v battery. It died on the lake few days ago and the battery would not charge on a 5 or 10 amp charger. I purchased this charger and the 30a boost setting had it back to 100% in two hrs.

@@brownsfishingadventures4001 all right so this charger is really not designed for 12 volt lithium batteries. See that's what I'm worried about when my cable gets hot I keep an eye on mine and constantly test it with a volt meter till it gets to 12.8 volts. Makes me mad because this battery dies so quick with my trolling motor but my regular lead acid holds up almost all day.

@Nuno Sa Punso the changer was set on lithium. Always double-checked and clamped down. Come to find out there was a small amount of debris underneath the screw on the post. It was not allowing the current to go into the battery and to heat the screw up. Definitely will be cleaning and checking the underside of the post screws from now on.
