Had Umbrel and Start9 (with various different services) running concurrently. Just now made the jump and the process was just like you see in the video. Props to Ben for making a half hour tutorial out of what actually takes just five minutes to do 😂 Sooo easy, thanks to the Start9 click/scripts 😎👍

Dude, first time viewer here. I hit subscribe about 5 minutes into this video. Great info. Your attention to detail makes it so easy for someone like me, non IT, to grasp. I am going to set up my on BTC node soon. Thanks to you, this should be really straight forward. Thank you.

The issue that I'm seeing here is that Start9 see themselves as a software company creating value mainly for individuals (and hopefully for businesses down the line), and don't consider the hardware an important part of their business. Since StartOS is free & open source, this is not making them any money, while it is costing them in developer salaries. Down the line, possible bad scenarios: 1) the business market pans out, i.e. they may deprioritize individuals in favor of SMEs; 2) the business market does not pan out, 2a) they try to monetize the individuals instead, which usually does not go down nicely when it's after the fact, or 2b) they move to becoming a hardware company, and the incentive switches to making StartOS run better on their own hardware. Sorry if I seem cynical but I've heard a wise man say that no one is better than their incentives

    Hey Ben,
Im new when it comes to learning about nodes... Which do you prefer, Umbrel or start 9?
I will be building my own soon and not sure which route to go.
I mainly want to run my own node to connect to sparrow.

Thinking of migrating too, just wondering what would happen to my existing LN Channels under 1M sats if i set the minimum channel size to 1M like you did on the video.

Great stuff Ben, I installed Start9 on a stand alone PC, I assumed from your info that I would have access to files, pictures, videos etc., am I missing something because I can't find any way to do any of those things. All I can do is run Firefox and access all my Firefox related stuff.

Awesome video. Would be nice to show as well how to migrate with only one device, if possible.

Hi, Thanks for the great video.
    I have a newbie query:
Whether the Bitcoin Node data (500+ gigs) need to be downloaded again in start-os, or it is also copied from umbrel,
    Thanks again

    •  Год назад +1

It’s possible to migrate the bitcoin data but in this video he only did LND. You can tell bitcoin was already synced.

Ben, awesome information as always. Is it possible to run a Start9 or any other LN node with a tablet? Thanks in advance

    Greetings Ben.
I assume you also stopped LND services on Umbrel before copying to Start9.
It was something you did not disclose but it would be important.

I'm currently running Umbrel on a linux box. Do you have any videos comparing Umbrel vs Startos and why you settled on Startos?

I don't understand people. Why not run your node, electrum and lightning node yourself?
