Definitely found this useful, it was hard to find stuff on RUclips about how to establish Lightning channels. I think this is one of the reasons Lightening hasn't caught on as fast as people would like to see. It is complicated, but it could definitely get there.
I will strongly advice you against self trading, it's really dangerous and had brought so many investors down, you need some one with the knowledge and strategies, someone dedicated to the crypto currency market buisness, and I will strongly recommend expert Mrs Jane

I'm slightly curious on whether you saw the TFTC a few days ago where they spoke about lightning briefly and mentioned funding your LN balance/channels with strictly mixed otherwise it has high chances of leading to an identifiable node and wondering your thoughts on that. Thanks for the detailed video. Really helpful for me. I've just completed setting up my BTC/LND node using Umbrel & RPi4. Completed initial blockchain sync (took 7 days as I'm on a HDD - for now). Can you (or anyone) give me suggestion on how I should starting building my channels? Where will be a good starting point to open up my first channel ??? My main objective is to experiment with LN (running as a routing node) and also encouraging my friends to learn and use BTC (by possibly letting them to connect their LN wallet to my node)... Any help or pointers are appreciated...

Umbrel is already upgraded to the latest version of core, with taproot support. If they start rolling out updates that are not to your liking you can remove funds and move to myNode or other options.
Attempted to open a chanel with someone from Umbrel Community also looking for same. SATS in process of going over to LN wallet. .... I guess this takes time.

I don't understand why one needs to run one's own bitcoin blockchain node in order to use lighting network or set up lightning network node. Did you misspeak in saying this or did I misunderstand or does one really need to set up one's own bitcoin node to use lightning/set up a lightning node and if so, why?
Need some help, maybe someone can chime in: I Set up my node, loaded the blockchain, set up thunderhub, sent some BTC on chain to a thunderhub receive address.. But nothing showed up. I noticed it was "not synced", so I figured it would detect the transaction once it was synced. This morning it's synced, the transaction has over 70 confirmation but it's still not appearing in my thunderhub wallet. What could be happening? Anything I should/could do?
In ThunderHub - I am following your steps but I am getting an error. "not enough witness outputs to create funding transactions, need 0.01 BTC only have 0 BTC available". Where do I add BTC to open a channel?

Awesome video Ben! Does anyone know whether you have to let your desktop/laptop run 24/7? If i go on holiday for 3months, can i take my laptop with fullnode/lightning node with me? Or do i need to sync the full bitcoin history transactions each time i shutdown my laptop?

Umbrel does automatic and encrypted channel backups AFAIK. Can also be recovered via the seed.

Your Umbrel node won't require your laptop to be on, as it is a separate machine and can run on its own 24/7 😁
