would definitely if i can figure out how to achieve anonymous pseudonyms in a foolproof way. So say I want to build an online reputation/following. What do I need to do so with a pseudo that can't be traced to my irl identity yet not prohibitively user unfriendly... like would need to do this from my home internet and logging in/out should be doable several times a day without wanting to rip your hair out
Hey Sun, I feel I need to warn you about a potential problem with Raspberry Pi. The harddisk you connected is over USB-3.0 and USB3 is VERY susceptible to stray 2.4 Ghz comms. There's a pretty good chance that your drive will register a bad block and the node data will go off-sync, within a month or two. Especially if that node is staying close to other 2.4 Ghz sources like wireless phones, headphones, mice, access points, etc. When you're copying a file to your external drive every now and then, you don't experience this problem but when you have a full bitcoin node syncing all the time and electrs indexing on top, that USB3 connection gets a LOT of use and sooner or later something does go wrong. This USB3 thing is a known and documented issue and no way to avoid it. I haven't kept up with developments in the SBC world but i'm guessing somebody probably came up with an nvme connection by now. You might want to go for something like that instead.
Hello, great video, I saw your privacy set up of Firefox video. I have problem with firefox containers extension. It doesn’t show in the top right, other extensions are showing. What to do? Pls help
Why not just use an encrypted volume that uses a passphrase instead of a samsung t7 touch ssd? Is there any security advantage other than not having to enter a long passphrase every time you boot?
I have Bitcoin Core running on Ubuntu 24/7 with the entire blockchain downloaded. Using SSD drives and Starlink high speed unlimited internet. I also have a wallet installed and open in Bitcoin core. But this is all new to me. Questions: Is my system automatically working as a node, or do I need to do something else? There are 10 peers connected all the time. And, how can I run a Lightning node along with this? Or would it better to only run a Lightning node and not the Bitcoin Core? Many thanks!
If you only have 10 connections, you are only sending out you are not getting any inbound connections. by default, bitcoin core allows 124 total connections incoming and outbound combined. You will need to setup port forwarding on your ISP router that points to your node on port 8333.
thanks for the video! wouldn't it be equally private to use TAILS OS to broadcast transactions? then if the public node is being tracked, they won't know your IP. I presume there's no way for a malicious node to see the balance of your other address within the same wallet if their UTXOs aren't involved in the transaction? thanks
Great question… Bitcoin is more ubiquitous and has a better chance to replace reserve currencies with a decentralized and democratic*ish alternative… that said, Monero is much more private. I like both!
@Pedro Abreu I think the full blockchain is ~80-100GB currently. I host a pruned node on my PC that's around 45GB. I'm not sure if there's a torrent for it, I downloaded my node over the command line.
Thanks for the info. I am definitely interested to hear more about all of this but TBF I'm more interested in Monero or Wownero than "bitcoin" or Etherium.. ^_^
If you need someone to help seed I have GB internet and I love what you’re doing. Reach out to me if interested. I would love to help the channel. You’re doing a service!
Hey James, project could definitively use more seeding… please check out github.com/sunknudsen/privacy-guides/tree/master/how-to-self-host-hardened-bitcoin-node/misc and reach out by email if you need help setting things up. Thanks so much for helping out. 🙌
No more classes? You lost me at step 5 of the guide. Every time it saysHeads-up: replace ca-mtr-wg-101.conf with Mullvad endpoint. Well what is the mullvad endpoint ?
Is there a possibility to make a masterclass on full privacy from beginner to expert would love to pay for that course.
Interesting feedback… definitively possible if enough of you are interested. Will put together a poll.
@@sunknudsen I'd love that
I’d pay for that instantly

Keen as well!
Has anyone got a link for the Pi aluminium case used in this video ?
I have been down the rabbit hole for the last 3 weeks too. This is an amazing tutorial definetely will look into this
Hey Sun, could you make a course/ masterclass from beginner to advanced on privacy/ security?
Glad I could help with the project, look forward to seeing it grow.
Thanks so much for helping seed torrent. 🙌
You are back 🤩
What happens if the fingerprint sensor on your SSD dies? Is there a password override?
What do you recommend as an alternative to a raspberry pi and doesn’t have wireless connectivity?
3:30 what if you are unable to be there …? Will it change something for your family ?

Very interesting… will dig into the topic. Does it help if USB-C cable is shielded?
Could this fry/corrupt an SSD hard drive if the node was positioned near a router?
@@sunknudsen How did this ended?
@@sunknudsenany update on this?
Hey sun, what’s the horizontal monitor that’s always in the background with different images?
Masterclass page not working. Is it still available?
Can't wait for a MasterClass! Beside, I'm a web designer and I love your font. Where did you find it?
Great content. Please keep up
Is it recommended to use your wallet from a different device? Or can you use your wallet on the same Pi you made your node out of?
Is this something you still do master class on? I just came across this but i think ive come to the place in my journey to host my own btc node

What about RaspiBlitz or Umbrel?
Hey @sunknudsen, I’m interested in the masterclass but the link don’t seem to work. You stop running it?

Where did you get the case for the RPI? Can you share a link?
Case is an Argon NEO Raspberry Pi 4 (see www.amazon.com/dp/B0824W5DDN)

Thank you for the video 😊

Is he saying Through TOR or True TOR…? Just wondering???
Please do the MasterClass! It would be fantastic.
Start9 makes a cool way to setup your own node with an embassy server that is Tor based. What are your thoughts on Start9?

Which Raspberry Pi case is that? It looks very unusual.
Need a updated hardware (2 years later) list
Masterclass link broken
Yes, were is it, is there a new link available ?
if you bought your coins on an exchange it's kind of irrelevant, they can link it to you whether you used your own node or not.
Let’s go!!

Why the focus on Bitcoin and not Monero? I've been told Monero is the go to privacy cryptocurrency.

Eagerly waiting for DeFi videos on ETH/SOL
I host a Monero node, which is a much better cryptocurrency if you're interested in privacy.

The virgin Bitcoin vs the chad Monero
Bitcoin is impossible to use privately, host a privacy coin node instead.
