Two handed grip on pistols first started appearing in the 1950's. Previously all soldiers used to hold them with one hand. So this actually is accurate to the time period.

Not always true; the Mauser actually was commonly used two-handed due to the uncomfortable recoil, as well as the fact that the stock of the gun basically was meant to transform it into a carbine.
I love the sound effects and realism of this game. it makes you feel like you're actually there and fighting in ww1

I keep trying to play bf4 but the only people playing it are try hard veterans who have been level 140 since 1 week after launch and I cant compete. I just want to play for fun but they are like robots, they dont miss and they play like they're on rails. I would probably need crack to compete with them.

Same here. I'm ok like I only played a few hours but I leveled up a lot. I was doing really good and now I join games and everyone is just really good. I manage do get kdr's around 0.75 but I can't get it higher then that. Too good for me.

I think it's amazing that we can now, get a glimpse of what close quarter fighting was like in WW1. Even though this is just a game, look at the graphics! It almost looks real in a way. You can tell the development team took so much effort and care into this game. I can't wait until BF1 comes out! Big fan of you guys at DICE, very good job.

There were a decent amount of automatic weapons in WWI. The smaller SMG's came towards the end of the war, 1918. It was mostly bolt action and some heavy machine guns...The weapons in BF1 are correct to the time period but just bolt action rifles would not please most players.

Well, i heard from Westie and some other sources that 1. There's no visual recoil, only true recoil, and that there's a new Bullet Drag system for longer ranges where wind makes your bullet turn in different directions.
Thank god. Visual recoil is killing me. I've literally quit playing BF4, because I aim at someone and it doesn't hit at all. It's aids.

The game is still in Pre-Alpha, that voice is temporary until they get actual recordings.
And also there were no radio in the first world war. At least not a portable, military one.

I haven't been this excited for a game in a while!!! I've never played a battlefield game before, but man, this looks astonishing. The gameplay elements look like they work wonderfully. I would like to get this on PC, but I need a new GPU first.
When you zoom in through the scope of a sniper rifle in Battlefield 1, the background of the player's view also zooms in as well. I really hope that DICE will change the background to not zoom in with the scope. Thumbs up if you agree.

I hope they either have it so you carry less ammo, or have the automatic gun jam, or a lot of people will spam the machine gun in a WW1 game.

+1MoreRep I would assume machine guns will be the most effective close-short range, while landing shots at longer range will be difficult, the semi automatic weapons will be much more consistent kills during mid-long range engagements.

Will if you make a ww1 game, then make it realistic, not some generic shooter, if they make it a automatic gun fest then they should have just stuck with ww2 of modern times, and btw how awesome would bolt action rifles be, its trully about skill then and you would be forced to use alot of melee

That is an awesome new mechanic btw the helmets flying off upon headshot.
In Brothers In Arms Hell's Highway sometimes you could shoot a ricochet to an enemy soldier's bullet. It flew off the head of the soldier then you could take the headshot. It's not something new.
I'm just going to pretend this is based on history and have fun with it because thinking too much will ruin the rad theme they have going. If I want realism and historical accuracy, I'll load up Verdun as usual :).
I guarantee you have never played Verdun in your life. You just saw these other comments on battlefield videos that say Verdun is realistic and battlefield is not. You can deny it all you want but you know it's true

That's a pretty popular misconception. Trench warfare mainly characterized the Western front, but their were plenty of back and forth battles going on elsewhere, and at other times before and after the offensive stalemate.

The most badass thing I've seen done is a guy was in his jet in bf4, jumped out of the cockpit mid flight, pulled out his anti ordinance and shot down the jet tailing him (all in midair), then someone reentered the cockpit and survived (this was a youtube video)
DICE did it again with the sound...its so damn perfect...with all the echoes when you are inside, the landing bombs the fire from enemy or team members... damn awesome

Good video and audio and all, but why everyone use MP-18 it was made till the end of war. Most of fights was in trenches and soldier just sit there and shot in enemy. Soldiers couldn't use self-loading rifles because it wasn't made in begin of XX century. DICE just made another Battlefield but without AK-47 and M-16 i think, but i hope singleplayer won't have this sins.
The kids who play these games haw such low skill that using a rifle would be too difficult for them...

Honestly hoping the storyline is like an alternate reality where WWI continued for a few more years, otherwise it's just shitting on history.
It's a fuckin game. BF4 was unrealistic, why isn't that a problem?
The weapons used in that game actually exist and weren't just one off prototypes and blueprints. They're making the first big label game of WW1 and it pretty much looks like a fucking WW2 game. The BF4 and 3 story lines are also both in the future, as WW1 actually fucking happened.

hopefully they fix the smoke effects to add realism...the smoke should linger in the air for a while then slowly dissipate.
I think there should be a limit on how many SMG's are on one team, lets say 35% of the team can have SMG's and 25% can use LMG's but you sprint slower with an LMG but it comes with a bipod, and the rest can use bolt action rifles. Oh, and make the SMG's have A LOT more recoil so the COD kids can actually learn some skill instead of just firing full auto in the corner of a building and T-Bag there opponent afterwards.
And the rest of the team can also use shotguns.
You'd think a word war 1 game would have more bolt action rifles and revolvers
