Mario's first appearance is still 1981 since in multiple Nintendo products as well as shigiru miaymoto has confirmed it and stated it as such even if his name wasn't Mario. Also the nes while being the first time released America was not the first release of Nintendos console they had already released it in Japan two years prior to the American release
