Good video! I guided in Alaska in the late 80s and this is when I first started tying glowballs..I really liked it when you said there is a difference between a good glowball and a 'shit' glowball! Made me laugh because you are so right! All of us that were guiding were trying to tye the perfect glowball and it was amazing the effort we were putting into this..We finally got it right, I feel. I think the perfect glow ball is one that is somewhat dense like yours, top and bottom. We didnt use the glue underneath, we flipped the fly and tyed another small piece of glowball yarn in and cut. Also today I think I would try the gps threads in 30 or 50 denier..Liked your hack with the thread on the bobbin, I'll have to try that! Thanks!
Hi, I have tied these flies since the 70’s on wide gap, extra short #4 to #18 hooks. The American guide, Luis the Lure started to sell his glow bugs flies in Turangi and the curse of the glow bug was off and running! I found the cheapest one to tie is the Egg over Easy. I only used the white yarn and a red or pink coloured pen. They all catch fish but I do prefer the smaller ones as the larger flies need a tungsten bead to sink them, and if that connects with the back of your head you will know why I prefer the small ones!
Louie The Fish is his name. A good friend of mine is Louie. Louies Lure is a fly that he invented. And yes he did introduced the Glo Bug and they really did take off.
Monster hooks on tiny eggs? I wonder about: why does everyone on RUclips use these monster big hooks for these small, tiny eggs? They disturb the smootness of the eggs surface and tend to snag on the bottom. I prefer to mount two windings of Lead wire on a bent hook size 16, so the egg will almost completely hide the tiny hook. The lead will position the hook to guarantee a upright Position in water , which counts for less snagging- its mostly forgotten, that the physics , weight and streaming behavior of Flies in the water is crucial for successful tackle.
Duuuude . I did not know that was how them eggs were made 😮 . My mind is blown 🤯! Sick video 🔥
Haha yea bro, it is a bit weird when you first see it. Like why does it turn into a ball after you cut it 🤣

Very good video thanks.
What size egg does the G14 version of this represent? I normally use 6mm Cleardrift egg but want to get down to a more realistic 4mm egg presentation.
Probably around the 4-5mm mark I believe
Like that 😀
Thanks 🙏

Whatever works I say. This is a proven pattern that works well in NZ.
That not it
