Or Tricky, or Portishead. Both had singles peaking in the US Billboard Alternative Songs chart and Portishead had a single peak 53 in the US HOT 100 Billboard. Weird not having at least one genuine trip-hop act from the 90's featured, seeing as they were massive all over at that time. But it's WatchMojo, can't expect much.

ETA: I don’t expect anything from the WatchMojo content farm though. I mean they did a ‘most influential British album’ list and didn’t include either of Tubular Bells or Pink Moon. Radiohead, and many other bands they regularly list, wouldn’t exist without Mike Oldfield or Nick Drake.

The intrinsic British resistance to folk (especially our own) really has hit 'Mumford & Sons' recently. I mean I have no idea what's working this side of the Atlantic these days, let alone the other, but I have heard of some of these. Maybe they've been around for longer than I thought.

Maybe in more modern times, but certainly not in the 60s and 70s. I can't stand mmford and sons but artists like Nick drake, Sandy Denny/fairport convention are great. The beatles, kinks and even the rolling stones put out many great british folk songs. Also there were many Americans using british folk songs or influenced by the folk sounds, one of Simon and Garfunkel's biggest hits is a cover of a 60s english folk artist's take on an ancient english folk song.
