Pretty great line-up, you can see Abba and Bee Gees really picking up steam. I don't think Rolling Stones are better than The Beatles, The Beatles wrote the Stones first hit. The best way to understand their greatness is probably listening to the musical progression of their albums, particularly from 1965-69, from Rubber Soul to Abbey Road they were unstoppable.
Beatles overestimated! Every record they made there was something that had never been done before. They broke the mould for ever. You grew up in a musical world in which their influence is inescapable.

George Harrison was the first Beatle to have a No.1 single in the UK after their split. Not that he saw much from it, as he was taken to court for plagiarism ('My Sweet Lord' was ruled essentially the same melody as 'He's so fine' by 1960s girl group The Chiffons).
When i hear Carpenters, i get a bit sad. Karen Carpenter was extremely talented singer and drummer. Her talents were wasted, and the story has a sad ending. Her voice is one of the best of all times, it is extremely tight when it comes to pitch.. like it is autotuned.
The singles were one thing, but the best music was on the LPs and the late 60s, early 70s were phenomenal. From your reactions I gather your music listening is very US artists orientated. For some great music of that era, check out English band Hawkwind and their 'Space is Deep' track from their Doremi Fasol Latido album, or indeed their 'Silver Machine' single (both 1972).
I am in my seventies now and remember every one of those songs, And it was such a great time for music, And by the way, I am an avid viewer of your channel. I love it.
I started out thinking this was in America, and then it got weird with songs that weren't hits there... reading the blurb under the original video, it seems it's an attempt to do an international list using chart placings from lots of different countries. Kinda props to them for giving it a go, I guess.
The problem with not knowing the artists behind the music is of course that it makes it more difficult to find more music of a similar kind that you like. Otherwise, I agree with most people here, the seventies (and sixties) were about musicians and music, not about image, production, technical aids and marketing. Most of the artists on this list wrote their own music and were talented (or great) instrumentalists and singers. Today, chart music is mostly about big labels with massive marketing resources and streamlined factory-produced muzak where a lack of talent is easily hidden behind technical aids such as auto-tune etc.
you had a blast with this Connor,it was indeed a great time for music, real talent,no auto tune crap,so glad you liked Donna Summer, loved her since i was 13,i turn 60 in March,do more music reactions, great to see you have fun.
Correct - the 70's was the disco era. Great to see you boogie along! And yes, that was Paul McCartney on a couple of clips. He had a successful run with his band 'Wings' after the Beatles' split. I agree that the 70's & 80's felt more care free - but perhaps it was because I was younger then.
There are a few artists missed here eg The Eagles, T Rex, Boz Scaggs, Mud, Joe Jackson, Steely Dan, Squeeze, Pink Floyd, The Who. It was funny seeing Rupert Holmes looking like an accountant doing Karaoke at the firm’s annual Christmas Party though.
They weren't missed, they just didn't have the most popular song in any given month during the 1970s. Pink Floyd was very much an album band and hardly released any singles but perhaps Another Brick in the Wall Part 2 might feature at the very start of a similar video about the most popular songs of the 1980s? I seem to recall it was a Christmas No. 1 in the UK in 1979 and topped the charts for several weeks so it might have been the best selling song in January 1980.
If you read the description on the original video the compiler says it’s not songs in the US or UK it’s from all over, they didn’t want to repeat any songs and admits it’s 100% accurate
"That's the way I like it" was most popular when I was born, but I was born near the end of Nov, can I have Bohemian Rhapsody??? I actually have the best song at No.1 in the UK charts the week I was born, Billy Connolly - D.I.V.O.R.C.E (a parody of Dolly Parton's song)

George Harrison was the first Beatle to have a No.1 single in the UK after their split. Not that he saw much from it, as he was taken to court for plagiarism ('My Sweet Lord' was ruled essentially the same melody as 'He's so fine' by 1960s girl group The Chiffons).
Yes,,,,,the Rolling Stones are better than the Beatles....for rocking...Beatles better for songs.
The clip of Rupert Holmes (pina colada song)... Without the sound and context you could easily believe is a Ted Talk clip from 2020's
Andy Gibb brother of the Bee Gees was the first to die ..only one left now rip
First time ever I saw your face was written by Ewan McColl (English folk singer), father of Kirsty McColl.
Don't know who put this list together. There's no Bowie, Slade or T.Rex, and barely any Queen or Sweet.
I love it.
This is my childhood :) (born in 1971). Love it! PS Cher was around long before 1971. Check out Sonny & Cher "I Got You Babe".
Love Kate Bush! Can’t believe The Police didn’t make an appearance.
this is not a list of popular songs in the U.S. in the 70s so a few of these never made a blip on the U.S. charts
Agreed, "Annie's Song" by John Denver is just beautiful.
Blimey ralk about diversity. Are you watching gen Z 😂
wait what, you've never heard Bridge Over Troubled Water? WTF
You realise what a great decade it was when you could double the number of songs that were so popular back then and still leave some out.
Connor please dont go for that hair 😂
Now I have to watch 80s and 90s too
I was 11 when Grease came out and new every with of the songs word for word.
Band on the run ...paul marcatney and wings .. great song
10:53 That IS Paul.
For the first time I gave you a thumb down. Please, react to something else rather than music. Anything else! PLEASE, PLEASE, PLEASE!!!
you had a blast with this Connor,it was indeed a great time for music, real talent,no auto tune crap,so glad you liked Donna Summer, loved her since i was 13,i turn 60 in March,do more music reactions, great to see you have fun.
Wings is Paul McCartney
Correct - the 70's was the disco era. Great to see you boogie along! And yes, that was Paul McCartney on a couple of clips. He had a successful run with his band 'Wings' after the Beatles' split. I agree that the 70's & 80's felt more care free - but perhaps it was because I was younger then.
Many of those songs were the background sound track to my childhood. Music was just better and had more variety back then.
Slade a notable exception . They seem to have missed out quite a few TOTP. chart regulars , not that Most of these aren't great .
If you read the description on the original video the compiler says it’s not songs in the US or UK it’s from all over, they didn’t want to repeat any songs and admits it’s 100% accurate
The Eagles were there, singing Hotel California.
Cher was around in the 60s!
This was FUN ! Thanks for sharing your faves and dislikes 👍 👍✨
You should listen to Bee Gees
Ken Leeeeeeeee a libbo dibbo douchooooo 🤣
😂😂😂 that totally ruined that song for me. They became the lyrics from the moment I heard it.
Still the best Reaction Channel on YT...
