I love the JOY Jon Batiste brings to every performance!
He sure does and he's incredibly musical. But to be honest, not much of an accordion player, he could hardly keep the sound going. Takes a lot of practice, that instrument.
@@JohannesWiberg I agree, but he's amazing on the piano.
Gotta say Stephen, it's impressive to see a man of 54 with washboard abs ...
I was about 5 when my family drove to Buffalo from Toronto to go shopping one summer with some friends and we got this album Graceland, listened to it on the way home and that has NEVER stopped being such a joy to listen to! Over 30 years later, this old musician's still singin' great and dancing around and having a blast... I can't even express it with words. It lifts the spirit so high to see and hear this. Takes me back to better times! 😂😂😂😂😂😂😂
I feel exactly the same way! You said it so well.
I had the exact same experience, except we were driving from Ohio to California. This album never gets old for me!
My whole musical life was changed summer of 86 dropping my sister off at college ... we listened to this album and a few others from Ga to AR and back again. It sparked something in me that made me the musician I am today. I would love to meet him in person and just tell him how much his music has inspired/influenced/meant to me.
I love Paul Simon 💙I feel so lucky to be alive at the same time as this legend!
Absolutely!

So am I! So lukcy seeing Paul Simon back on stage last August 2019 with what concerts he was giving.
All concerts (4) lasting more than two hours without a break!
Paul Simon still more than alive on an age of 77 years old 'not slip slidin`away' On the contrary.
I Never saw Paul Simon making and having so much fun than in his entire solo career! .
On OutsideLands 2019 and Hawaii #Maui!
Wow, music lovers only here folks. Any collabs with Jon Batiste and Stay Human are engaging and fun THEN add PS and it's party time. So much awesomeness it's crazy.
TRUELY THE G.O.A.T. OF EVERY EPISODE EVER FOR STEPHEN, JOHN BAPTISTE, STAY HUMAN, TREVOR NOAH, MOLLY SHANNON, GARY COLE AND PAUL SIMON!!!! CAUSE THEIR ALL AMAZING AT WHAT THEY DO, AND TOGETHER HAD A BLAST DOING IT IN ONE BLESSED DAY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I JUST WOKE UP AND PLAYED THE EPISODE AND IT STARTED MY BRAIN AND CREATIVE JUICES FLOWING; TO HOPEFULLY HAVE MYSELF AS WONDERFUL , SUCCESSFUL AND POSITIVE DAY, JUST LIKE THEY DID, AND HOPEFULLY I CAN HAVE THAT EFFECT ON WHO COMES ACROSS MY DAY TODAY!!!!!!!! THANKS TO YOU ALL, JUST WHAT I NEEDED, GOD BLESS, EVERYONE!!!!
I love Paul Simon!

I've been in love with him since I was 14. Now I'm 65! 😂
Ho l ve been in love him too, since i was 17 years old , now i am 54..
.i know what you mean, our Paul is magic...❤❤❤❤❤❤❤
me too. Think hes my favorite of all my favorite musicians!
One of the most consistent performers of all time. I don’t think he’s lost a step.
@Paul Frederic Simon Thank you Mr. Simon. Even if you aren't the real Paul Simon. I started listening when I was around 10 years old and I am now 27. I will always know I have a place to retreat to when I need it. Thanks for shinning bright!
I’ve seen Paul Simon live last year is Hyde Park. Magical evening it was great
You say it was a magical evening but was it late in the evening?
Timothy Graham it was all day because there were other acts and the whole thing was like a festival but Paul Siomn came on in the early evening
I had the honor of seeing him in Tampa in Sept of 2018 during his Farewell Concert..., man, that was awesome. When I was a kid growing up, S&G had just begun, and I loved them. But, fact is, Paul Simon is the only reason they existed. I never would have thought I would be able to see him in concert - so thankful I did.... He is an amazing talent.
greenbeagle13 yes his guitar skills are absolutely incredible. I feel the only reason S&G broke up is because they were both jealous of each other. But it was a fantastic day, well worth it.
A most joyful musical performance
Jon, Paul, Steve and Ringo, YEAH YEAH YEAH
That was the best performance since Simon Helberg and Jon Baptiste killed the piano together.
@Paul Frederic Simon More than entertained... ever since The Sounds Of Silence pulled at my tender teenage heartstrings in 1964! Paul, i am in tears to receive a personal reply from you, it is mind-blowing and deeply satisfying. May your heart be filled with the serenity of Peace and Love, may you always be happy, may you be blessed and hugged by the loving Divine Mother❤️Ma
PS belated best birthday wishes for a happy new year... i am so hapy you are still around❤️
I like it when Stephen joins the band 💖🎶🎇👏
First time I've seen him join in. When else had he joined in?
@@ikester475 With Pearl Jam was one that I can recall
Always liked Paul Simon
The best thing I’ve seen in years! ❤️😊 It’s so lovely to see how much fun everyone is having. It joy to my heart.
Fantastic!! Everyone so talented!!!🥇🎤🎼🎶♥️
2:18 A duet between an accordion and an electric guitar. Now I would not have put those two instruments together, but they work.
It's called zydeco, cher! Louisiana swamp music. :)
One of the most fun musical performances ever on the show! Loved it ❤️
Colbert looks like such a dad playing that wash-board ahahah
Holy what?! I can’t sleep and now that’s the best thing. Please do this every time I have insomnia. 😍
I never miss a chance to watch a Paul Simon video... the BEST songwriter and musician on this planet.
Joyous music with Paul Simon!!
This is one of my favorite Paul Simon songs. The visualization you get from this song is so strong, the happy emotion so pure.
LOVE, LOVE, LOVED THIS!
This needs to be a weekly thing! The nation needs this!
"Drink a little red wine.. Dance to the music of Clifton Chenier... The King of the Bayou Well, that …was not your Mother's Bridge over Troubled Waters!
Such joy!
Paul......Simon.............amazing!
Brilliant !
Incredible moment!!!.wonderful and magic, my Paul and the band with stephen, waow!!!!! Such a magic time!❤❤❤❤❤❤❤
Thanks. I really needed this. =o)
One of my favourite songs to dance-like-no-one-is-watching to :) Waving from The Bahamas !
Wow 😮 if that doesn’t make you smile, I don’t know what will 😁😁😁
I've always loved that song ! Great performance here too.
THAT WAS PURE MAGIC!!!!!!
Ho yes!!!!god bless.you all❤❤❤
Puts a smile on my face
I watched this on Tuesday and thought it would be great if the musical interludes between segments of the show could be recorded for the home audience. We often get to hear a few bars as the show returns and I love me some Jon Batiste and Stay human.
Stephen seemed pleased with himself while holding the staff. Must've been surprised the network censors let him do it.
I've been looking for a comment about that. I'm surprised I had to scroll down so far to find one. I know it wasn't an actual naked woman, but I figured any portrayal of one would be a no-go.
Awesome, Stephen Colbert is one of a kind. He is such great fun.
Stephen, one of the best things you did was to get Batiste to be your stage band ....
Jon has so much fun making music that I have fun watching.
Wow!!!
I see many potential memes here....
Stephen with the spoons my god that is gold
LEGEND
Damn, this reminds me how much I miss Jon Baptiste.
what a fun jamboree!!!
Fabulous stuff. Love it.
I was sad .... now i am happy :-)
love it...thanks
Jon Batiste & Stay Human: Best band in late night!
MadAboutSaffron Red
Jon is annoying as a character but he’s an *amazing* musician.
Am I wrong or was Paul trying to play his guitar at the end of the song but couldn't because the strap broke? Great rendition anyway; easily one of my favorite songs from Graceland.
So many talents! I didn't know Stephen played the washboard!!
Love Paul Simon!
They're all having so much fun, Joe looks like he's about to fly
Too fun….too cool! Thanks for the joy!
This song is as fun as late in the evening!!!!!
Oh my goodness! =)
This was so good! Joe Saylor is so cute! Love how he plays those drums!
So joyous.
Toe tappin fun in the sun kinda feelin.....nice
I've never been this early to anything.
Awesome!
Paul Simon
fantastic! so much fun!!
This is terrific!!
2:18 a guitar-playing pigeon, well now i've seen everything...
This must be the first ever musical performance on the Late Show that I give a thumbs up. Sorry to say, I haven't seen anything good so far. Up to now.
None of your Business
Maggie Rogers was well worth watching.
Oooiiiii Still got it!! Love him
Alto saxophonist rocked it!
This is my favorite Stephen clip🥰
Man that was fun!
This is what makes AMERICA GREAT AGAIN AND AGAIN
Mark Stewart doing some Duane Eddy at 2:06
I don't know why, but I got that visual and feeling of watching the musicians play, as the titanic sunk....
That's what he said.
Mr. Colbert is one of a kind. :D
That was nice!
Peace
Jo&π
Damn! Pauly still got it!
I got a fever...for washboard!! Lol
more washboard
Too much fun! ; )
Fun!! N😂😂😂😂
This is the most Alan Partridge thing ive ever seen
Where's our monologue, dammit!?
@@mrphilbert1 ~ It's not pirated, this is the official feed from LSSC.
@@spammyhell6566 Sorry. I had one tab open that was pirating content from this channel and was reporting him. Clicked on the wrong one.
+PaleGhost69 ~ I'm getting the awful feeling Stephen is off this week (or at least was on Mon), and they're uploading some content just to keep us from going into withdrawal. Appreciate the content, but really hate these times when these guys take off. They keep us sane, dammit, they need to be chained to their desks. :-D
Great
Fun!
I feel like I am in New Orleans right now.
I want to hear Paul Simon do something off of songs from the capeman
Love paul simon but The Givers sang this to the next level
Light n' things up a bit.🎉🍷😀🍄
Steve shreading on the wash board.
Wao!
@Paul Frederic Simon Thank you Paul Frederic Simon. Love the creative, imaginative and innovative lyrics, and rhythms of every son; they are all together, the best soundtrack for the last 60 years of history.
Love this! :-D
Paul Simon AND "Stephen Gets To Amplify His Washboard Louder Than Other Instrument Because It Is HIS Show After All"
It's not that they had amplified, but that he still had his tie mike on 😅😂
@@chrissiek8706 Haha. Good point!
Paul Simon should have been the only guest.
Could you imagine a night or a week where it was only musical guests?
Graceland: Most innovative American pop album of the 20th century???
Did I just see Paul Simon c-walkin?
Play that Zydeco!!!
Who is the guitar player?
Jx Gittelman Mark Stewart
Who’s the new clarinet player? Whatever happened to the regular stay human clarinet player grace kelly?
That accordion was out of tune or something, it was all over the place in a bad way... But the overall performance was great!
Look at the Joel Guzman Accordion playing with Paul on Austin city limits you will see the difference.
Awesome! And the drummer is pure sex!
Love zydeco
