Wow what an awesome video and so happy my recommendation for your first flyrod and reel combo paid off for you! Keep at it, keep practicing. It will be frustrating at times, but the rewards and relaxation you get out of it far outweigh any negatives. Some epic trout fishing for your first time throwing a fly line. Congrats man!!!
Early on you asked for hints on setting the hook but you seem to have figured it out before the end of the trip. I have never fly fished for trout on a lake. I have only done it in a fast moving stream. There you don't jerk the line but just tighten it. Your trip make me want to go out and fish. Great video. Great moose shot. Thanks for taking me along.
@@cowelk fly fishing in a stream would be so much fun. Looking forward to the chance to do that one day! Thanks for watching buddy. Have a great weekend
I'm trying to find a recipe right now. So far I think soaking them I maple bourbon might be it. Not a fan of trout but I want to change that lol ive tried it so many ways...
I’d be happy to teach you to fly fish. You did awesome for a first timer. One tip, keep the fly line under your finger (pointer or middle or both) of your rod hand after you cast, it’ll help you with hook sets… but obviously you did just fine without. Great video!
Thank you very much! All the fly fishermen I've met so far have been so cool. Great culture behind flyfishing. I really appreciate the tip! And thank you, beginners luck! Hahaha
@@UnwindingRoads moose are adept swimmers and can hold their breath underwater for a full minute. Their large nostrils act as valves to keep water out as they dive up to six metres. When colder weather comes they feast on underwater plants that are out of reach for other species. (from google)

Shorts and running shoes while using a chain saw in a remote area? I am very experienced using saws and I always have my chaps & boots, it only takes one mistake or kick-back - good way to ruin a trip in a hurry. Great channel, would hate to have something happen, don't take the chance. Enjoyed the great scenery, great to se ethe fly rods out, I was the opposite, I grew up fly fishing for salmon and trout in NS in the 1970's & 80's, I only found out what spinning gear was when I started fishing with some friends, the Fly fishing is addictive, but a lot easier to learn on a river with a little current to help you out.
I really appreciate your comment. You sir are a class act. I invite constructive criticism. You have given me great advice without being an a-hole..I hope others see this and learn from you as well. Thank you. Will definitely think about this next time using a chainsaw. (I don't even have chaps!)

Why is Shawn’s driveshaft not fixed already? Figured that would be fixed first thing once he got back from the Arctic Circle trip. The Ginger should have to answer why it broke in the first place
@@timricks1149 it's getting fixed, they just couldn't fix it in time. The lift kit didn't require a front drive shaft but I think that's going to change now lol

The trick is to have tight lines ,to much slack on the water , to set the hook it’s thumb to noise to set the hook of you pull sideways it pulls it out of its mouth . When your casting have more patients on your back cast let the line fling back and the rod load then fling it forward . And the rips some lips bud !
