Ticking is the fuel pump and I don’t know why they don’t put a fuel pump in that doesn’t have this problem… I would definitely go for the one you are showing 👍🏻
The reason cheaper models don't come with the silent pump, is exactly what you think... they're cheaper, and controlling them is easier. The clicking pumps are solenoid (pulse pump) or binary... (on or off). This is also why the clicking is still audible if you get a silent pump, because the binary controller is still sending the same signal. The quieter systems will have a PWM pump and controller. Larger, expensive, high output models (not the Chinese design) may use a constant flow pump with a diverter/regulator valve.
This toolbox is sold from a few company different names . There’s a few other toolbox heaters like this from other companies, but this is finally the one with the quiet pump. You used to have to open it up disassemble it and change the pump to the quiet one. This is nice that you can just use it out of the box. I also have a zero breez 3 coming in which is a heat pump and ac. Bought a big goal zero 4000 watt hour I haven’t tested yet since I haven’t gotten it but I wanna see how well it does before I get in a diesel heater.
I also have the ecoflow wave 2... It's a nice unit but here it gets too cold. I Regularly below its recommended operating temp of 5 degrees Celsius. Especially at night. Probably not a problem for others. And also not sure what the zero breeze is in comparison. Ecoflow messed up big time with not being able to charge the battery separately from the unit. Makes it hard to use....
@@UnwindingRoads Yea in the real cold this heater you show is the way to go. On the ZB3 the battery they are now releasing for it, does charger and discharger at the same time. I just checked and the minimum temp is 10F or up for it work so about -12C. they barely are rolling out so let see how it tests out. I'm on preorder so I I think by next years Ill have it. Thanks for the video, would recommend some more research and a update. Your AC to DC setup is just sucking back the losses in efficiency.. DC to DC and find a better solar generator You might want to do some research on the supplied hose and if it’s drier rated. The one you picked up from Canadian hardware store is actually rated for driers. Good reasons for that rating Would be nice for a tear down, as many offshore heaters are cursed with defects. Gas tanks and gas caps leaking and incorrectly vented caps. Wrong type of gas lines used, poor, improper and dangerous wiring inside. Being that you’re taking this on earthquake trips in the backcountry. I would highly recommend disassembling and verifying the proper parts and connections used. Many of the FB diesel heater groups can steer you in the right direction.
@@crankshaft007 I'll definitely have to check on it like everything else for things loosening up. I did check the cap and it's good. My last one was not.
