"You know this is live on the radio, so i'd like to start by saying... Fuck."
It shouldn't be a surprise to anyone who sees this that 25 years later. They're still the f****** greatest band in forever.
Nah, "they" are not this anymore.
@@ericritchie6783Josh’s baby, so basically yes
@@StraightJacketFitting Essentially not. Completely different band except for one directing member who's like 25 plus years older and comes across pretty different these days.
Different members different inspiration different material.
Josh is an individual not a group.
When live, they never stuck to the albums. They improved it and allowed for more jam. Very much appreciated. Got to love the fuzz too. Makes me warm and fuzzy hearing it again. Bad ass band from the start.
I don’t think I’ve ever heard You Would Know live before and it’s literally my favorite song. That shit was so heavy!!!
"Hey everybody. You know this is live on the radio. So I'd like to start by saying...FUCK." - Josh Homme. Enter Regular John. One of the most bad ass opening to a show ever. And Dimond Dave Catching in the shadows. Prime Queens.
So rebellious and anti authoritarian. Too bad they probably got their clot shot. But hey at least they’re willing to cuss
The spirit of Jim Morrison lives on.
@@HailSchmitler-wz1wk go to bed gramps haha

Nice one dude!
Cheers, brother
Thanks from 2024
this was a good age of queens of the stone age
I hope they're not the last greatest rock band ever.
At the end the THANK YOU, that came from the heart. What a concert. Man, i would give a finger…Alfredo and Nick are the perfect rhythm machine. Eccentric Man - Josh -> OUTSTANDING ! Oh man…Those were the days…
i miss the days with nick. his bassplaying was essential for the queens sound. dude that bass sound was just..... holy shit... on another level.
Totally agree. Unlike now where their bass sound is apparent but too candied in the mix. Prefer a more raw and intense vibe to their sound
I Bet If Nick would be still in the Band they woudnt have become the shit Show they are now.

@@aye8136 IMHO, after Songs for the deaf IT went Downhill.
*uphill
Cept for Villains, which was still good
58:21 the quintessential Josh Homme guitar solo! Unorthodox, maniacal runs that have never been heard yet feel like classics somehow. Truly unique and unpretentious. A favorite for sure

Bet they weren't playing Monday nights for long
Monday nights in Winnipeg especially lol
Whoever film this. Thank you.
Listen to them play Mexicola. Alfredo is really nailing the signature groove that's perfect for this band. Gene Troutman stepped it up and grooved harder, but this is QOTSA still in raw band form, and they have really tightened the lock to the desert sound. Thanks!
Alfredo intentionally got the gig, but trautman beeing so heartbroken he didnt; they also toured with him later on.
I loved Alfredo. He's key to the early sound. I actually prefer most Alfredo shows over the Grohl tours. Grohl took some things to a whole other level, but he also rearranged some of the material a bit, I don't like his take on Avon for example.
Alfredo and Trautman were the best qotsa drummers. Grohl was good as well. Castillo was way too fast and fucked up pretty much every gig, Theodore is great but fuck man, he has no character. He's like Grohl in Nirvana
@@havoc170 I kinda found it endearing how Joey fucked up basically every show. They're like fun easter eggs to find when you're watching vids from that era lmao
I wonder how this sounded on the radio
Saw this years ago and thought it had been taken down. Some great live versions and really good quality too
Born to Hula is the shit!!!
nice seeing the early stuff all the way through to now. The caterpillar to the butterfly .
One of the best Queens concerts on footage. Too bad the camera man had to use the bathroom during two of the songs
These guys plays great music! I hope they'll turn to be the "next big thing" someday.
The future is now
They already are.
These guys are gonna be HUGE in 2002, mark my words
I was front and center for this show, was absolutely incredible! You can see me at the 20:49 mark:) Blue flannel and hat.
Do you remember what radio station in Winnipeg hosted this?
Aaron Trozzo either 92 or 97
Lucky
That's the queens hat I fell in love with.
Yeah man, good on you for these, between Regular Johnny, and QOTSAarchive, there was a bunch of missing stuff.
10 points for spotting the woof lmao
John Edwards which one ;)

thank you!!
@@jonoakley5611 its a cover song.
this might be my favorite qotsa setlist ever
I got to see them at the troubadour in Los Angeles when they were opening up for the smashing pumpkins.
Is there any video of this set ?
Nick Oliveri was one of those two queens, without him Qotsa is JH and his very talented friends.
This is a f****** fantastic show!
Always kick myself for missing this show. Had the mp3 rip and never knew the video existed. Thanks for sharing this.
akagw902 i live in wpg and was too young to know of them or what music really meant to me obviously being born in 95 but this band grew on me around the time like clockwork came out and i found a bootleg dvd of this show at a local record shop and bought it on the spot. one of my most cherished posessions... it takes me back to a time i was never truly present to experience yet i feel as though i was there and only sleeping.
I love you for this. I wasn't sure if I could survive without regularjohnny.
mMmmm that tone.
Holy shit Josh is completely coked out of his mind here haha
That's what I was thinking 🤔
Are you awake?
@@C40V15 No ARE YOU AWAKE
He was tripping 100%.
Look at his crazed look at the end of If Only🤣
2:40 its so cool that Josh added this little twist back in for the most recent tour 🤘
Thanks!
Just thanks.
this gem...
They were awesome
Fredo is the best drummer they ever had. This shit is gold ✊🏻
9:48 Josh Homme suddenly learns how to alternate strum chords
lmao
Wow, Nick is the man
Who are the 3 idiots that disliked this video?? Show yourselves
excelente!!! grácias
awesome
sooooo fucking gooooood god dammi- this just made my day!
Nice sound quality and camera work. Oddly enough it all seems very QOTSA-ish in its essence, doesn't it ?
Hahaha totally!
That slide guitar ruined Born to Hula
There’s literally nothing good about it. It’s off key, out of time and after a year still pisses me off
Thanos Patrick
seriouslyyy
I never heard one good thing played by Catching when he "played" with QOTSA.
Andrés Ríos yeah, probably just completely out of his mind for the whole tour. That being said, it’s not really a valid excuse when you’re on stage with Josh Homme and Nick Oliveri...
I’m awake are you awake
yes
the dude right up front is my spirit animal
guitar tone on How to Handle a Rope must be the greatest thing I've ever heard. Was he playing with that Ampeg VT-40 back then?
He played through a Tube Works RT - 2100 and a Sunn Model T. Both of them when into huge Ampeg SVT bass cabinets. To my ears his tone sounds like it is using the Model T but he may be blending both.
so monstrous i wanna kill myself for not discovering it earlier
That's the Univox Super Fuzz he kicks on for Rope, unmistakable tone. About ten years later you can see the very same pedal on his Vultures pedalboard. I absolutely adore the tones of the first album, the Tubeworks head sounds fucking ace, perfect power chord tone never surpassed since.
It's the same tone he had for all the other songs. There are other shows from the same time (february '99) and in some you can see that he was using two Ampeg v4b amps with Marshall cabs (they look like marshall cabs to me at least), one slant and one straight. I think the ampegs were totally cranked and he pushed them into 11 with a Boss sd-1 (classic boost settings, no drive). Pedalboard from that era was sd-1, tu-2, wah wah, volume pedal.
He started using the VT-40 after Rated R came out and the tone changed a bit. I think he did it 'cause then there was Brendon too playing guitar, so maybe to have a more focused sound (10" speakers instead of 12").
The Tubeworks and Sunn Model T heads with bass cab (and two 4x12 guitar cabs too) were used only in the first euro tour (Bizzarre fest '98), then he started using the Ampeg V4b instead of the Sunn, then he abandoned the Tubeworks too. I was astonished to see those heads during the Villains Tour...
@@JohnDaubSuperfan369 Maybe he did use it in the studio, but not here. To me it doesn't sound like that, the audio it's distorted, pay attention to the people voices at the end of the show.
Good times...
Holy fucking fuck Mexicola
How longgggggg do I waitttttt !!!!!!!
Lol random alcohol induced barking noises 37:14 followed by one of the coolest riffs!
43:31 my boy is fuckin slidinnnnnnnnnn
Holy fuck!
RAD
That's a really dry vocal.
Alfredo = qotsa’s drummer
I love when Josh shut up and play...
Wow Josh is coked out of his mind in this vid
ça tue
21:28 & 37:14 woof!
What was that all about?
Jeez dude why does the slide guitar on Born to hula sound so terrible
It’s Brendon McNichol
This concert is amazing, the sound is perfect, the bass is super crunchy. Also they played the whole first album except for hispanic and hand model, the only 2 bad songs on the album. Great
39:25 Who is he?? Peter Stahl?
I believe so.
@@jimmykoeninger7327 I did not know that Peter collaborated with qotsa!
@@fernandoc.v9582he did some desert sessions stuff.have you heard the nova track.(Avon backwards)?.so good.
They still play music? I mean qotsa
Yes
Brendan thinks he is Theremin during "born to hula", just poor musical taste more often than not.
Because this is going to be live on youtube, I'd like to start by saying...fuck.
That's Diamond Dave Catching, not Brendan.
Brendon*
Like a drug
wow 1 year and still 1st :D
wow, brendon mcnichol absolutely butchered born to hula.
I miss the days when Josh was trying to be Jimmy Page and not Lady Gaga
What is wrong with Lady Gaga? I dont get it.
Explain
The whole desert scene was not influenced by Zeppelin as much as the doom of Sabbath… Plus he came from a place where if you sounded like anyone else he’d receive harsh criticism. This is my second edit, my first was something along the lines of Matog’s anus being worn like a meat suit by Homme to the Music Video Awards and him like it 😂
I miss the days when people didn't tell others the kind of Sound they should have.
what does this even mean
THIS IS THE QOTSA I LOVE not that STUFF they do now
nowdays stuff is exremely poser !
