    great video Wes. I've been struggling with dovetails but your explanation really helped. Thanks

    Great explanation, Wes. Sure helps to see it done !
    I've got the Porter-Cable which is almost identical and yeah it was driving me crazy at first too, but once you do it a couple times it gets real easy.
    Did some hand cut dovetails lately and all I could think was "you could done 200 lineal feet of them on the jig by now" lol

    Great video with one minor omission. You should have explained why you have to swap the panels from left to right on the jig.

    • @WesHamstra
      @WesHamstra  4 года назад +1

      Stephen meadows I did mention why. It’s because there is a left and a right side to the drawers

    Why use one side of the jig then the right side of the jig for the other sides? Do you set stop blocks on that side too?

  • @tonyjover
    @tonyjover 4 года назад +4

    At 1:50 you say "Next you want to set up this back rail..." but you don't say why or what it does, only that you set it to 3/4".

    • @WesHamstra
      @WesHamstra  4 года назад +1

      Tony Quinsee-Jover it sets the depth of cut. Your router base hits it and stops you from routing to far

    • @tonyjover
      @tonyjover 4 года назад

      @@WesHamstra so how do you set it? Measure from the edge of the bit to the edge of your router? Trial and error?

    • @WesHamstra
      @WesHamstra  4 года назад +3

      Tony Quinsee-Jover it’s mostly trial and error. That’s how I figured it out

    • @richard-v2e8t
      @richard-v2e8t Год назад

      The guide bushing sliding in the template is what stop you from routing too far. You only need to ensure that your template is adjusted properly for the material you’re using.

    Is the jig only capable of producing half-blind dovetails, or is there another way to set it up?
