Mont Marte acrylic paint for pouring. Worth it in the US?

  • How does the Australian based paint Mont Marte work with acrylic pouring? Quite well if I do say so myself.
    Initially I said "My only gripes are the lack of information on the lightfastness of their signature acrylic paint and that I can't buy individual colors where I at in the US." However, after conversing with Mont Marte customer service they sent me all of their info for the signature series of paint. All but two of the colors are Lightfast rating of 3* (the other two are 2*) which is equivalent to the best ASTM Lightfastness rating. This makes Mont Marte one of the best bulk/student level acrylics in that regard.
    One of my viewers pointed out you can buy individual colors in the 2L size on Amazon which ends up being about $.35 / ounce as of the date of this comment. Not sure how I missed that but here is the link (affiliate) www.amazon.com...

    Thank you so much for the mention David, awesome experiment, I started using mont marte because it was a middle range quality paint and I’m all for having a reasonable price product for my viewers to learn and become advanced with.
    I’m currently not using mont marte so much, I’m using Global impasto paints all made here in Australia and will be shipping world wide I’m told 😁 mont marte paints are made in China and sold and shipped worldwide I believe.
    I always had trouble getting support as an artist from mont marte direct but always had great support from our AU online supplier.
    You mentioned the white paint, I have had trouble with many brands of white paint cracks and fluctuations.
    I will post this link for my viewers to help them decide, as always great video David with very valuable information for all budding artists 🤩🤗

    I am in Canada and found these in Walmart. I found a metallic set, they were 30ml each and a pretty good price. I wasn't expecting much but when I tried them, there are really nice! I love them. Nice variety of colours all the way from white to black!

    THIS IS SOO WEIRD! I'm in South Africa. We don't have the variety you Americans have (yes I'm slightly jealous) and quality art supplies are very expensive here. However, we got the whole load of Mont Marte. The bottles look nothing like the ones you have. And you can buy any color or medium separately. Even for pouring, we have every color, including metallic, ready to pour, no measuring, no mixing, no adding anything, and already the right consistency. Love your channel 💗

    Thanks again for doing another comparison. I follow both of the artists you mentioned, Gilly Kube was the first, since I wanted to do a glue/water medium when I first started, just in case I didn't like doing this, I can always use glue if I didn't. I still do sometimes use the glue/water medium but also American floetrol. I can't remember what question I had googled when it brought up your channel and I subscribed the same day. I always mention you in groups that will ask a question.

    I recently bought the signature Monte marte pack from Amazon and found much the same as you (creamy,fast mixing, etc.) And did a straight pour on a 11"×14" and the results were one of my best paintings so far. I like it much more than the meeden I started with (much harder to mix thoroughly as it is thicker, but not as smooth and creamy as Monte mart).

      @@LeftBrainedArtist I am the one who is having the senior moment. I told you wrong. I got them off Amazon, I am so sorry. I do order some of my paints from Hobby Lobby. I got a bit mixed up.

      The paint I ordered from Hobby Lobby does not work as well as the Mont Marte paint. Thank you

    One of my views pointed out you can buy individual colors in the 2L size on Amazon which ends up being about $.35 / ounce as of the date of this comment. Not sure how I missed that but here is the link (affiliate) www.amazon.com/dp/B00XC8VLNC/

    I was thinking of buying these paints. I am a bit confused though. I can see Mont Marte studio acrylic paints and Mont Marte signature acrylic paints. What's the difference between the two?
    One more question, if I am using Amsterdam paints for a pour can I use Liquitex basics white colour as my base in the same painting?

    • @LeftBrainedArtist
      @LeftBrainedArtist  Год назад +1

      I haven't worked with the studio but I would assume that the signature is the "student" level acrylic and the "studio" is the artists/professional acrylic.
      Yes you can use liquitex white with amsterdam paints.

    Does anyone know how to keep your paintings from cracking?

    • @LeftBrainedArtist
      @LeftBrainedArtist  2 года назад +2

      Depends on what is causing it. Most times this is low quality white paint, paint is too thick on the painting surface, or there is a draft or air blowing on the drying painting making the top layer dry way before the bottom. leftbrainedartist.com/why-is-my-acrylic-pour-cracking/

    Put the last one next to the cup with the glue Cup two and you’ll see how close those two colors are together they’re almost exactly… The problem with one FLOOD is that you lose your True color you lose the true color of what you’re trying to accomplish
