    Hey Serg. Do you still recommend the IS250? Do you think the power is good enough? What about gas mileage? Decent? There's one where I live, 2p14 F-Sport, which is in great shape and very well taken care of.

    • @jbm0866
      @jbm0866 Год назад +3

      I don't have one but an ex girlfriend had a 2012 model IS 250 and I can say this..comfortable, quiet, decent handling and great brakes, doesn't break down (for anything major) but gets abysmal gas mileage if the majority of your driving is city stop and go. Oh, and a neighbor who used to be a Toyota tech for about 10 years before switching careers to insurance told me those V6 engines won't destroy themselves if you run regular gas instead of premium, (ECU compensates) but you may get even worse gas mileage so it's not really saving much money.
      So that's it, gas mileage is the only con I can think of really, but that's only because you'd expect a compact car that doesn't have gobs of power (it's enough, just barely) to get at least 22 mpg city, but the IS 250 struggles to get 18-19 mpg. Highway is decent though, we got like 33 mpg once on a 300+ mile road trip that didn't require many hill climbs and traffic cops were out in force (holiday) meaning I just set the cruise for 2mph above the limit so I didn't have to worry about getting a ticket.

      @@jbm0866 Hey, thank you so much for your review and information, it was really useful. Yep, that's exactly the situation I'd be using it like, 95% of the time, stop and go city situations. And the traffic in my city hasn't been good. Overall it"matches" all the information I have it the car. I gotta decide. Lol Thanks again

    • @jbm0866
      @jbm0866 Год назад +1

      @@Marcoshary I'd still say if you can grab a second gen (3rd and 4th still too expensive used) with decent mileage (with these things 100k is more like 30-40k on other cars) for $10-$11k you'd still come out ahead versus buying a car for twice that amount that gets better gas mileage. The money you save buying an older car plus the peace of mind it likely wont break down makes them worth it imo.

    • @Marcoshary
      @Marcoshary Год назад +1

      @@jbm0866 Lexus didn't do much marketing so, they never sold too much in my country(different of Toyota that sells a lot here), and the IS specifically, sold very little and only between 2012(IS300) and 2014(IS250) and only very few units(100 for the IS250) so, they're really rare here, differently than to the US and Canada. But I found this one (2014 IS250) in excellent shape, very well taken care of, I test drove it and it's very nice, really in very good condition. So, If I really want an IS in my county, I gotta go for this one in specific or forget it. So, I'm deciding. But thanks 😀

      Its..not that good, but not that bad. As long as you do your maintenance. Its not like a Lexus, if you drive normally the c400 is fine, but if you beat at it and floor it alot it will break down super easy. The lexus can take a beating any day.

    I know this video is a year old now and a dozen people probably beat me to it, but nevertheless...the little thing at the end was worthless🙈🙈 The only way to make that fair is to have both keep a constant speed (by gps to eliminate speedo variances) and then set up cones as the braking point. If the Merc gets up to the set speed quicker than the Lexus then of course you'll start braking earlier and it wins lol. Lexus (and particularly the IS) are known for good brakes...I'm sure in such a test (if done fairly) it would at least match the Merc if not beat it, and that in spite of being the heavier car.

    • @SergCarReviews
      @SergCarReviews  Год назад

    Some of the so called safety features on the C250 are downright dangerous, in particular the emergency braking which is not consistent and can jam the brakes on full when you don't need it increasing the chances of a rear ender 100%. Apart from that the infotainment is absolute, overcomplicated rubbish and about 2 times out of 10 won't even connect to my phone. Don't get me started on what sort of moron puts a gear selection lever where indicators or wipers usually go! We've owned a lot of mercs over the last 30 years and the build quality has markedly reduced, sadly we probably won't own a Merc again
