Thank you very much, worked for me! I had a little scare because the first time I plugged it back in, the display was blank. The second time it was ok though. I can confirm that you don't need to disconnect the motherboard.
Thank you so much "Vic L", even though you no longer have that Whirlpool gas range anymore. Your video was tremendously detail oriented and the PIP inset frame from a different viewing angle was visually helpful. It saved me $300 from having a service call. It was fantastic to see the proper part number for the membrane included. Of course regarding the actual bad part goes and not knowing exactly which component or components became defective on my Whirlpool, I took a chance of buying a replacement touchpad and hoped that it is not the costly circuit board at fault. As luck would have it, the membrane was the only defective part. It also saved me some time by having the right tools such as that short-handle "L" or "Z" shape Phillips screwdriver to remove the circuit board assembly. One less appliance waste to the landfill. Cheers.
I don't understand why it is necessary to disconnect and remove the motherboard. Once the membrane is unplugged, it is removed and replaced from the outside. The only reason that I could see to remove the motherboard was to push on the membrane through the readout window. However, you could also push on the membrane through the slot that the cables pass through using a flat screwdriver. This would be a lot easier than all of the work shown in your video.
Thanks for pointing it out. All projects have the room to improve.
Thank you from Chicago. I feel more confident now, after ordering the part for my girlfriend, who is real excited to have her range fixed. I don't have the exact same model, but it's very similar, so it should be very easy. I'll try and take my time.
Thanks! Just saved $600
We saved almost $400 by following this tutorial and doing it ourselves. Very easy to follow while watching. Thank you for your detailed instructions!

Thanks so so much! You are the only one who has made this information available online, I wouldn't have been able to get this done without your help!
Thank you. I've repaired the face plate before and forgot about the screws underneath the control board.

This totally totally rocks. Thank you so much for the subtitles.
Thank you so much for this! This is the second time I’ve had to do this. Hopefully with your tips and guidance I won’t break the plugs as I make the replacements. Very grateful!
Yes, same here. Did you also find it a problem if the motherboard plugs were loose - damaged during the removal of the old membrane switch?
Awesome and very detailed instructions. Thank You a million!!!!!!!!!!!

Hi. This has been very useful and I installed the replacement myself. It works! Many thanks.
Excuse me where did you find it?
Great to hear!
Thank you!
Great Video!!!
THANK YOU SO MUCH!
Great video.
Great video! FYI - you don't have to unplug everything and disconnect the motherboard. You can just disconnect the black cables and reattach the new switch membrane.
Thanks for pointing out it
I wish I had seen this comment before I followed the instructions in this video! After I had taken everything apart I realized what a waste of time it was. I bought the part for $45 on Amazon; this was after the appliance repair guy told me he couldn't fix it. 🙄 New part works great! Pedro Meza did it work functionally and not need to be to fixed for a long amount of time? Or did the same thing happen again?
Caption is done.
Great video!
I had the same problem … the broil works fine, the cook and hold and clock seem to work, but none of the numbers work so can’t key in the numbers!
Also what is the model number of this oven? I can’t see mine!
We need to replace our touchpad. Exact same one as the one in the video. Where you buy it. Your video is so informative. Will try. Thank you so much.😀
I have a link in my description or you google the parts number.
good job. thanks (domo arigato go zaima)
Help! I have exactly the same oven.. how do I search the motherboard? And where do I buy it?
Don't need to remove the motherboard.
why was the motherboard removed when the connectors could have been slid thru the slot on the end by the motherboard?
How to know our oven not working if it’s because of membrane is not working _ our panel nothing lights up
Where can I purchase the part? I am unable to locate vendor and serial number of membrane. Great video! Even without subtitles :)
+Adriana Patron You can find the caption just click the setup. You can Try this web-site www.amresupply.com/part/W10207928-WHPL-RA-MEMBRANE-SWITCH-WP-NC
or try google the part no which I had show.
Why do you have to take out the motherboard?
I was following these instructions and everything was working great. Then the part that one of the ribbon cables clicks into (onto the circuit board) came loose and now only some of the buttons on the new membrane are working. Any tips on how to repair that so it's connecting to the circuit board again?
Sorry, I have no longer have this range.
I messed up the top Lauer that goes over the toichpad 😢 can I buy another one of those. I have the exact stove as you do.
Do you mean you Wan to buy the touchpad?
In the spirit of helpfulness: Let me note first that this is the second time in 22 months that I've had to replace this faulty Whirlpool control panel. Clearly, they are inherently defective -- for which the manufacturer should be responsible.
Also, for the benefit of those who have a white control panel (the serial number on the white panel ends in "30" rather than "28," the number of the black control panel.) Other than color, however, the two are identical in quality (miserable) and all functions. Perhaps equally important, the white replacement panel cost $132 when I purchased it online 22 months ago. The black one, purchased via Amazon on 11/24/20, cost $42. Res ipsa loquitur. Knowing this will be a recurring problem, I bought two this time. If you are reading this, I recommend you do likewise.
OK, with that out of my system. let me add something of value. Namely: Contrary to what is described and pictured in the video -- and I am not in any way faulting the poster! -- it isn't necessary to remove anything other that the defective control panel from the metal face of the stove. Stated differently, it isn't necessary remove the mother board from behind the metal faceplate. Just pull the flimsy, faulty control panel off the faceplate. Then, instead of removing anything else, simply cut the two film "pigtails" from the defective control panel with a pair of scissors. As will then be obvious, you need only thread the two pigtails on the new control panel through the metal faceplate. Next, unplug the two cut pigtails from the mother board. Plug in the replacement panel. Remove the paper film from the back of the replacement panel and fit it to the metal faceplate. Congratulations! You're in business.
Total time from the moment you cut the power to the store to restoration of power: Fifteen minutes, tops. (It helps, of course, to have done this before as a consequence of the miserable quality of the Whirlpool control panel.)
Finally, I offer my humble thanks to the gentleman who posted this video. Thank you, sir.
Thanks for sharing. Everything will have room to improve 🤜
Hi Vic L where could I buy the part for my oven and what’s the serial number to order one?
I have a link in my description.
Hi. I replaced the touchpad and the buttons are working but now the gas in the oven is not released and does not fire up. What could the reason be? I checked twice and all the cables are connected correctly. Any help/lead will be most appreciated.
Sorry, we have no long with this range.
We are still struggling for the caption.
Thanks. About to do this. Is it possible to peel the old one off and put the new one in with the main board still in place?
I don't think so.
Yes you can
@@kayhchoo how??? please share
@@rokumon2530 watch 16:40 onwards, the membrane can just peel off with a penknife. Do not have to push it from behind.
Don't even need to remove the whole panel.
@@kayhchoo Kat Choo is exactly right.
All I did was peel off the old membrane with the panel in place and cut off the old ribbon cable with scissors. Clean the area thoroughly taking care not to get any water into the control board area. Push the new ribbon cables through the slot and adhere the new membrane in place. Then remove the panel from the stove and just remove the old ribbon connectors, plug in the new ones, and put everything back together.
I found an aftermarket part that works perfectly on Amazon for $47
Caption is coming.
Where do I find husbands like these?
It has to be damp...

Hi, I followed along but now my oven and stovetop won't heat up. I know there must be a connection issue but I don't know where. Can you help?
Can you tell me more what is the situation?
@@TheKmkmchannel Fix Easz well, my landlord came by to change the panel but he didn't take everything apart like you did. He unscrewed everything, slid the replacement touchpad in the slot, plugged it in, and the screwed everything back in place. The touchpad works fine now but the stovetop won't heat up and the over doesn't heat up either. It just stays on 100°f
We have the #YGY399LXUS03 Whirlpool slide-in electric range
If the membrane mounts on the outside (-w- adhesive) and is removed from the outside, WHY does the motherboard in back have to be REMOVED?
John Skar good question.
The instructions I received from my parts supplier removes the connection to the clock area but not the motherboard.
