You are the man! This exact thing happened to me. I luckily didn't need a new part, but I had to take the screws out of the square piece in order to fit the tray back in. I was a lot less nervous after you showed how everything came apart and went back together! We have ice again, thank you!
Different refrigerator, Whirlpool, but looks like the same parts. Just ordered for delivery tomorrow. I’ll come back when it arrives tomorrow and update on how it goes, adding the models and part numbers so hopefully those help with others looking for this very helpful instruction video. Thanks!!!
thanks Tom, excellent video. scheduled a service call to replace the icemaker. the guy was a no show, so I saw the video, ordered the part, and within 15 minutes, replaced it. the guy did me a favor not showing up.
Thank you - very helpful video. Good to see it's not necessary to pull the fridge out to unplug the whole fridge. Not sure if you showed turning off the little toggle switch for the ice maker itself (located on left side of ice bin alcove), but you mention turning it on toward the end of your video. In addition to turning the ice maker toggle switch off for the replacement, I'll also tape off the freezer door light switch since the ice maker bin light wiring connector needs to be unplugged as well. I had used your video a year and a half ago, but the replacement ice maker's flimsy attachment tabs for the thermistor (ice cube tray heating element) broke off and my fixes have not held up leading to problems, so am replacing the unit again - just couldn't recall if I had unplugged the fridge last time. We have a 2017 Kitchenaid KRSC503ESS refrigerator. Thanks again.
Thanks for a very accurate video. I'm 81 and found the ice tray dangling. It didn't look damaged so I struggled but got it back in place. If this doesn't work I have no doubt that replacing it will go smoothly.
How did you get it back in mine fell into the ice bin. Now I can’t get the ice tray back in you should not have to buy a whole unit to put the ice tray back in ..

Hello Mr. Tom, I just installed my new Sears icemaker as shown on your video, but after install did not hear water running into the tray--- how long does it take to do that? I also pressed "Accelerrice" on the freezer front screen menu. Does it take a while for it to release water into the tray for freezing? Today is October 27th, 2023. Thank you.
Tom, I have the same ice maker. The little bar goes down to determine if ice is needed, and the tray tips over as if it is dispersing new ice, but no water is making it into the ice tray. The water disperses out of the door just fine. I just dont get water into the ice tray any more. Any ideas in fixing this? Customer care for Maytag had solutions but none of them worked.
I have sometimes heard that the water supply to the ice tray can freeze up. You can search online to see what people do to remedy that. Otherwise, there's a valve in the system that may be failing? I hope you can figure it out, best of luck.
I know you have probably figured it out already, but there is a water spout ( it is black and sits over the ice tray ) and it pours water into the cube tray. No water connection to the icemaker is needed.
Thank you. I do have a few tripods/stands but it’s not always easy to use depending on what I’m doing. I do need to try to improve my videos though, so always appreciate good input.
I had the same problem. Ice tray fell out and was in the ice been. I went through the same procedure you described and replaced the unit. I thought I was back in business until after about 36 hours I found the ice tray of the replacement unit in the ice bin! Any ideas of where to go from here?
Wow, sorry to hear that! Mine is still going strong. I guess I would see if you can get a warranty replacement since it only worked for two days. Maybe you just got a faulty unit…hope it’s an easy fix
Hi Tom, follow-up question: I had the large ice maker cover sitting on the counter while messing with the actual ice maker. When I went to move the cover, a fairly large wedge of styrofoam fell out of it. I can't figure out where that piece of styrofoam goes again. Did you happen to see that on yours?
For those who have been successful, what is the wait time? We're going on 20 hours. Also, we did not have the sensor. It wasn't on the old one, nor the new one. Just two connections we had to make.
@@TomsTinkeringandAdventures Because of your video, I knew how to remove the cover. That allowed me to pop the tray back on. Let's see how it goes! Thanks!
