This movie isn't Deathouse (which isn't even a word,) it's actually Silent Night Bloody Night. The summary is correct and the movie is from 1972. It's a classic horror movie and its a good movie. It was made a bit before my time but I'm a true horror junkie and you have to appreciate what's come before to truly enjoy horror today.
You got that right. 1972 let's see I was a freshman in high school, bran new high school I got to vote to name and pick school colors. San Dimas Saints Blue & Gold. We won on that vote. A great school, a great city. My home street is exactly the same as it was when new, mostly the same people live there as well. Peace.
@@jwilcox4726 I was born in '78 in NYC. I still live and work here but have been lucky enough to travel frequently both stateside and abroad. My dad had me late in his life (he was on his mid 50s) I had half siblings that were teenagers and in their 20s when I was a kid and introduced me to great horror movies that I should not have watched. I'm forever grateful for all the little gems I never would've seen without them.
It was filmed in Oyster Bay, Long Island, New York in 1970 but was not released theatrically until 1972 under the alternate titles Night of the Dark Full Moon, and in 1981 as Death House (sometimes stylized as Deathouse).
@@peggould5943 oh that's interesting. I just get irritated that people sometimes put it under a different name to make it seem more exciting or make it appear to be a different movie as RUclips has the same movie uploaded multiple times making someone think it's different. RUclips has become very boring as everything is pulled down and you must pay to watch the most boring movies.

I can’t get into it. Seems draggy and boring to me 🤷🏼♀️
What made this movie great was the twists and the turns of the character, the mystery of not knowing who is on the phone line, then I see You but you don't see me line that brought chills and the fact that the original Butler and the maybe daughter never died then the grandson discovering half truths yet even after known becomes a final Victim alongside of the accused there was thrills and chills. I came along with the cast and the unknown and lost.
Sense of confusion. Of not knowing truth of what happened until the end makes it makes it a decent thriller horror

"Silent Night, Bloody Night" influenced countless slasher genre mavericks in the upcoming decades. This is a seminal film with references and influences seen in "Black Christmas" (1974), "When a Stranger Calls" (1979), "Prom Night" (1980). This classic is right up there with Hitchcock's "Psycho" and Bava's "Bay of Blood" as being The Grandfathers of the late 20th Century slasher craze.
I don't think this is considered a slasher, blood and killing kind of horror like the movies you mention, but it is right up there with them. Who don't love Hitchcock classics. Let's just hope this movie stays a movie and not become this worlds nightmare

Michele Sanford-- I'm a dog lover and at they never showed any blood or actual killing, I'm 57 and actually cried when my little Buster got ran over but he survived with a broken pelvis, the vet was going to put him down but no way was that happening and i slowly nursed him back to health except for one gibbled back leg, i can't live without my little dog ✌😊

Well, this movie is legendarie all i saw is negativity not legend.
This is “art house horror.” Most of the cast were Andy Warhol hipsters.
I like a lot of old horrors and movies with storylines but as an 80's child this movie wasn't for me.
I will never understand why of the film makers would bring innocent animals into these movies and have them killed. It doesn't do anything for a lot of the audience.
