I wash my tees on delicate cycle inside out. Dry on delicate cycle for the first half and then on permanent press for five minutes. For the last ten minutes I dry on delicate cycle. They don't shrink much. Maybe a quarter of an inch.

The make of a machine has little to do with how well it washes but more to do with how long the machine will last you. You'll probably, under normal circumstances, with average amount of loads done, get around 10 to 15 years of no problems with that GE (Hotpoint). Speed Queen, on the other hand, is a more expensive machine but would most likely last 25 plus years, on average, without any issues . Speed Queens are made with all metal parts whereas all other machines have many plastic parts. The bigger difference in the quality and quantity of washing can be seen with with a front loading washer as opposed to a top loader, regardless of the machines make.
You are saying that even by setting the cold water, your washer washes with some hot water. You may want to check your Hot and Cold water valves in the back, they may be reversed. Great video!

Great video. Noticed how white the white tee is. I had a friend that had beautiful white tees and socks (his secret was Tide also). My only problem with Tide is that it is made by Procter and Gamble. P&G TORTURES animals 😢😿 If they stopped I would buy Tide no matter what price. Just saying, IF you care.
I may be totally off here, but (NOT denim included) if you buy quality garments they're not prone to bleed, therefore it's unnecessary to separate the colours. I do underwear/towels and bedclothes in one wash and then the rest all together. But the way you do it will probably prolong the life of your garments....But I'm way to lazy ;) Great video though.

I guess the key is using the rack. I always wash my t shirts in cold and never use the dryer. But I do hang them up on a hanger wet but I pull the shoulders into the center to not stretch. My collars always look like an 80 year old a** when I'm done.

If you don't want hot water in your machine you can switch the hose on your wall i noticed, or turn off the hot completely.
Would you directly iron these? of place something in between the t shirt and iron and run the iron over quickly?
Since you’re in an apartment, Check your water lines to see if they were hooked up wrong, if you have hot water and want cold something is up.
