    I think a mom's attitude creates the atmosphere for a home. Sure scripture around the home can be a wonderful thing to see and help reflection of what really matters in the middle of the business of life, but I think when we are joyful, cheerful, and pleasent in our voice and interaction, it creates a loving, welcoming, harmonious atmosphere. God's presence felt? I think if we speak of him often we can more easily remember that he is always there. Whether we feel it or not.

    I worked for 25 years raised 2 children as a single mother..Now at 41 I had my third child, married, and was provided the oppurunity to be at home and raise our son. In almost all religions there are descriptions of homemakers. No brainwashing here just plain simple truth. Some people will never learn or know how to humble themselves until its to late. Alana the video is well done!

    It is very hard for me to understand why a woman would want to go back to work once she has children, but there is no sin in it. I just cannot imagine leaving my kids, it would literally be devastating to me. I look at my calling to be a mother VERY seriously. I am raising men. Training then, shaping their minds, and instilling in them truth. How could I trust them with anyone other than the person who will love them, teach them, train them, and nurture them more than anyone could ever??!!

    Alana, you are so refreshing! Thank you. I wish more women aspired to be homemakers and looked upon it with dignity, it is a demanding career and, like so many things that women do, is underappreciated most times by society.

    Wonderful video to "accidentally" find. You made this video over 3 years ago and even today your words are blessing someone! I loved your attitude and reminder of how being a wife and mother is full of work for the husband and children, but the man likewise is working for the wife and children. When both are doing their part, the home can be balanced. My husband passed away in September last year and raising 4 children this past year has been a challenge (now ages 17 down to 6). But your words still remind me that I have a job to do, and as well as I can. Not perfect, but striving to do well is my goal. Thank you for your video and I'll be sure to check out some others. I don't know what you are doing or where you are in your life today, 3 years after this video, but I pray you are blessed today.

    Alana, I have been watching your videos for some time now and felt the need to finally comment... You have been blessed with wisdom beyond your years and I think it is so wonderful that you take the time to share what you have learned from your experiences in life with others who surely will benefit from your videos... You are a wonderful person and I find it so encouraging to just sit and listen to your insights after a long day!

    I am so thankful to God for leading my to your videos. I just happened to stumble upon them yesterday and your words have already impacted me so much. I have only watched 3 videos, but I have been challenged. I am a homemaker, no kids, and was just really feeling like it meant nothing without kids. I have started to slack off a bit lately because I was only caring for my husband and myself. But you have reminded me how important it is to honor God by standing behind my husband supporting him. And he feels supported when I take care of our house. Thank you so much for the encouraging words!

    It's amazing how many people attack this way of life. Just the rude comments on here. It usually seems to be the single moms (not all but mostly) that become so hardened and angry with this way of life. Interesting though that Gods way always works better than a fatherless home or a home with an emasculated man. Feminism is to blame for nearly every problem in the home. Women have a very important role as do men and trying to force changes to that muddies everything up. God bless homemakers, God bless men who teach their sons to be men and God bless families that understand makeup and dresses are for women...not men. 😊

    I don't think there is anything set in stone. :) I do not look down on career women....I was a career woman. I feel like if your heart is for your home and family it is where it has to be, BIBLICALLY. If your heart is for your career, it is a sin. When I worked, I worked for money, and I advanced as far as I could just to make more money. i didn't care about the recognition, rank, success. When that clock hit 6pm i went straight home to be where my heart was...with my husband.

    Hi...thanks so much, the Lord is so good. When i first married I actually worked full-time. We used that time of our marriage (before kids) to pay off student loans, save, and get everything ready so that when we did have kids I could stay home full-time. I always talked about staying home, even before I was a believer..

    there's definitely more of a focus on financial gain and the career in todays' society. a friend of mine who made the choice with her husband to stay home and care for their baby son, while he worked, was labelled, 'lazy,' lol, the mind boggles. having worked with children in a home environment i KNOW how hard it is, and how vital. if we have the choice, why WOULD we want to send our little ones away to let strangers raise them and enjoy the precious moments of their lives?

My father passed away a month ago after a very long illness, and while I used to spend my days taking care of him, now I have the opportunity to focus on my family and home. Hi Alana! I really like your posts! I am newly married and love to hear how to revitalize my marriage. I just wanted to let you know that every Shabbat night (Friday night), the husbands sing these first Psalms to their wives. It is called "Aishet Chayil" or Woman of Valor, and it is something that as Jewish wives, we yearn to be responsible and take pride in our husbands, children, and our families' relationship and reputation in the community. Blessings, Sara

    I want to thank you so much for your videos. I am not a religious person, but I think I have a lot of the same values as you, and want a lot of the same things for my family. Lately I have been wanting to focus more on being intentional in life, and making sure my highest priorities actually take that place in life and not just in my words or in my mind. I've been frustrated that I'm not doing as much as I'd like... but LOVE what you say in many of your videos about "seasons." So true...

  • @EmilyChapelle
    @EmilyChapelle 12 лет назад

    Right now I'm barely sleeping at night because my baby son is up a lot, and I'm lucky to even get one hour in the middle of the day when both kids are asleep for me to be productive, but that is the season I'm in right now. When my daughter was around a year old (12-20 months) and I was pregnant, I started to "get things together" a lot more and it felt GREAT. I know that is coming again when my son is a little older, sleeps better, and is a little more independent. I'm READY.

    Thanks...he is so gracious. I only have 2, and the youngest is 2 but he still wakes up every night. I too stay up pretty late to spend alone time with my husband and wake up fairly early. I also do a few things that the average family in our culture does not do like mill my own flour, make my own bread, have a vegetable garden, make everything from scratch. I am a busy little bee, but you are right about the Lord being the source of our energy and grace for each day. keep watching! :)

    I think the Lord placed that desire in my heart long ago. My family always told me it would never happen, well, they were wrong! :) Most don't say anything about it, they have expressed that they imagine I feel worthless, etc. They obviously do not understand the rich blessings that come with living my dream, but I cannot blame them, they are not believers. My in-laws always talk about me needing to get a job, but we just ignore it. My mom loves that I am home..she is a believer.

    No one has ever told me straight out, but I have felt judged before...I think it is very sad. I remind myself often of the biblical truth that being a full-time housewife/mom is precious in the sight of the Lord. And I truly find joy in where he has me in life. The saddest thing is when people say things like: "you are wasting your talents." OR "Is that all you do?" They have no idea how hard it is.

    I think you did a good job especially how you want to be a blessing. In Biblical time they had larger families we have 9 younger children and it is a different life I rise early and go to bed late and God gives me grace and energy to do so. We are on a small farm and have a tight budget so things like making clothes providing food for your family are part of everyday life. Where ever God has you now be content and do your best and apresiate what God has given you.

    Helping women understand the beautiful calling the Lord has for them. It is our role ,we should joyfully embrace it. Our men need us, we make their life misery when we try to control them. It's better to be on the corner of the rooftop than inside a house with a quarrelsome wife, it's more bearable to hear a constant dripping than a nagging wife. Proverbs. Sorry you don't agree with the Bible's view/God's design, but it is not brainwashing.

    I believe we can attain those virtues by God's grace and his sanctifying us, yes. What i don't think we can do are all the little detailed descriptions of what she does. That is the part that no one can really do. The main idea of the text is, I agree, to strive to be virtuous and strong, and to see well to the ways of our home and family.

    I am very diligent in the use of my time. i do "rest" during my boy's naps sometimes and watch a show while I fold laundry or iron, but I usually have to do some sort of housework while they sleep. Every now and then I nap with them. But I would say I work about 14-15 hours a day.

  • @AlanaL3

    I don't know what I think about the 1st question. My tendency is to say that women are described in scripture to be the ones at home, managing the home, caring for the children. Not to say a man cannot do that, just like we can't say a woman can't go out and be the provider but is it the design the Bible shows? No. However, I would not call it a sin. I think we are happier when the man is the provider and woman at home. I know MANY men who say they cannot understand how we can do this all day.

He is very verbal about his appreciation for all I do both in conversation and in prayer as a family. 2. I train my kids to pick up after themselves, but I still help them because htey are so young. I don't show irritation about it. I serve my husband by picking his things up, and I just nicely ask him "hey can you pick this up when you get a chance."

I think you would enjoy the book, it is based on Proverbs 31. :) Another pondering I have been having is that I want to to feel like a prayer, when walking through my house (if that makes sense) like I remember my grandmothers house. So sorry. :( I know that the first year of an addition to the family is so hard. I felt REALLY up and down and lost around the time my second was 11 months-17 months or so. It is a normal challenge all moms go through to some degree. I highly recommend starting a hobby of ANY sort. It can be a tiny thing you do only once in a while, because I know time is VERY LIMITED. But it will help you feel like YOU again. Try to enjoy your time with your husband vs. "talking" about issues all the time. I am not saying you do this, but we are women so I think I can guess pretty close...Have fun with him, think of fun things to do at home after bedtime. If he does his own thing, get involved. Ask questions, flirt, be sweet to him. More than anything, you must cling to Christ.

    • @samanthaoleary6453
      @samanthaoleary6453 10 лет назад

      Yea, an addition to the family is very tough, ,but I think I am starting to get used to it and get back into a routine. I've been thinking that I should be used to having an extra child and be back into some kind of routine again, but idk. She is ten months old now, and just starting to sleep through the night. She is the most adorable baby ever :) I am very thankful for all of my kids and my husband. You have encouraged me to be better, so thank you for that. It is nice to know that what I am experiencing is normal, and that I'm not alone. I do like doing crafts and working out, so I think I will make some time for that. I do like to talk about issues quite a bit; in fact I love to talk all the time. LOL I will focus on enjoying my husband, being here for him, and showing him some appreciation. I've been pretty bitter towards him, but I recognized that and now I am no longer going to be bitter, but thankful instead. The enemy loves to tear families apart, but I will not let that happen. My parents split up when I was about 5 years old, and my dad raised me and my brother. My relationship with Christ has been strained, but there is nothing more I want than to live for Jesus. I've just been feeling like Jesus could never accept me or forgive me, because I read in the Bible where Jesus said If anyone speaks against the Holy Spirit He will not be forgiven. So, I've been woundering if I had done that without meaning to. I would never willingly or knowingly do that. I can explain more if you would like, but yea. Thank you for your encouragement.

    Great video, looking forward to watching the rest of your videos as I have just discovered your channel. I have a few questions (but please don't think they are questions out of judgment) 1. Do you feel appreciated by your husband? 2. When you are trying to maintain your home and your kids/husband mess it up somehow, how do you talk to them about it without feeling like you are nagging? 3. How old are your children (they are sleeping so reliably/routinely) and a comment, it seems quite American

    My sister is a career woman. By that, I don't mean that she would put her career before her own children but that she does it for her children. She does not believe that the income of her husband alone, will be able to provide for all the opportunities that she can give her children (like a private school education) and therefore will work continuous hours of the day in order to provide for them because she loves them. What do you think of this?

    They LOVE their kids, invest in them, etc. they just have a limit to how much they can take. We on the other hand are juggling everything, homemaking, child rearing, outings, healthy meals. You will understand one day that when you leave your husband at home with the kids you will come back to a messy house, dirty kids that ate junk food and watched tv the whole time! LOL I am exaggerating a tad, but they just can't do what we do. Of course, ia m sure there are men who can. Just like it's in our

      Great thoughts Sister. I am in a season of eliminating possessions and simplifying things SO THAT I can manage my time well. I have to do this or I am not able to be efficient. Learning as we go - amen. Im glad to see your videos. Keep serving - Jesus will help us : )

    hearts to be at home with our kids and managing things, it is in our husbands hearts to go out, work hard and take care of their family. Its God's amazing design of our roles. Sorry so long of an answer. My husband helps with housework, we can't do it ALL, especially when there are multiple children. But I do take it upon myself to do the majority. Not because I think it is the way it has to be, just because I do..Every home is different. My husband never cooks, I know many who do...

    has children and works by choice so I could be soooo ignorant in what I am saying. I just do not feel that way so it is all I know. AND the women I know that do work are constantly battling the heartache of not being able to be home full-time. Their constant prayer is for God to help them be content where he has them.

    The humor is just thinking about how life would be if we made all our families clothes and our own, plus more to sell, traveled far to grocery shop, farm our land, stay up late, wake up early, etc. It's funny to me I guess because I have 2 small children....I strive to use my time well and be as productive as possible with each day and could never do all that is described in the passage. That doesn't mean that I don't manage my home well, etc. Make sense?

    Hi Alana. I have a few questions.
    1) what do you think of male homemakers who have wifes that work?
    2) Do you think it is a woman's responsibility to be a homemaker rather than a males? So would you look down upon a career woman?
    3) How many hours do you work as a home maker a day?
    Thanks, I'm interested in becoming a homemaker after the birth of my daughter.

    I am not a midwife, but we used one for our homebirths. Is that what you meant to ask? If so, yes, I would never do something with my husband not approving of it. We were both 100% in on a homebirth experience.

    to have just one single day to do laundry...? I do 2 or 3 loads every day and don't know how it would work. You must need a lot of clothes so you don't run out? And to use a drier? Fun working out logistics such as washing/groceries I think. Also, another question, have you read Kimberly Hahn's 'Graced and Gifted'? I'm reading it at the moment and she talks about a lot of the same concepts that you have here. Liz, NZ

    I have found that I just have to make time I have talked with other women who have older children than I do and they always say it's just that way most of the time when you do have small children, I have 3 children under 5 and a lot of the time I feel like I'm going crazy and that I will never have a clean house I will never stick to our routine, I feel like dinner is always late and that I'm not spending enough time with the kids but it's only season it will get in order it will only take time.

    book by book, chapter by chapter, verse by verse and teaching in depth...yes, hell and how to get to heaven are eternal subjects which should be thought of daily since eternity is pretty long. As far as the poor, there is PLENTY of scripture that teaches us to serve those in need, meet needs in anyway we can, etc. BUT the greatest need is Christ so sharing the gospel MUST go hand in hand with that service.

    If he doesn't do it, I may ask one more time, but after that I will just leave it alone to not nag. 3.My older son will be 4 in a month and a half and my younger is 2 and a half. They have a great routine that I have done since birth with them. I knew I had to put it in place early to have it so nice now, when they are older. As far as laundry days. When I made this video, over a year ago, I didn't have to do lundry so often, things have changed. I do at least 2 days, sometimes 3 now.

    Last thing i wanted to mention! lol don't want to sound like a pest. lol. I think the woman described does all of these things for her family(in principle) and she does it with temperance not falling into a household drudge. She never gets overwhelmed but takes on her role by Gods grace for His Glory! She is capable of doing much for her family But knows when to stop and rest to commune with God. She has Balance :)

  • @AlanaL3
    @AlanaL3  11 лет назад

    I did. Not because I think the woman has to, its just the way it is in my home. Its great and fine if men help with housework. BUT, I will admit, I had a lot harder time asking for help when I first got married. We need to ask for help! :)
