I have scleral show and larger perceived eyes, that turn a bit downwards due to the lack of support from underneath, giving me uee. They are also visibly close set now. Maxilla development is partially related to eye spacing in most cases. This is especially devastating, since very slight changes in terms of eye separation can completely break facial harmony and is literally unchangeable, other than LeFort 3 or other very dangerous procedures. Generally the whole mid-face seems sunken, while the nose looks particularly prominent, despite being of average size. But it doesn’t only affect looks. Your health can severely suffer from it too. I recently was diagnosed with severe sleep apnea (30 apnea’s per hour) at 24. I couldn’t sleep properly since my teenage years and my academic career suffered ever since. So your whole physical and mental development is partially stunted, especially brain development in crucial years. My professionally tested Iq of 116 has literally gone down to below average as of now. Especially memory and processing speed have become abysmal. It almost seems like I have severe adhd or autism, despite having none of these. This isn’t fully reversible either. Looking back, I am terribly angry at my orthodontist and dentist, who didn’t detect the obvious (despite consistent visits) or just decided to do nothing. My orthodontist did actually detect it at some point, but was afraid to do anything, since my front teeth “could break again”. So yes adequate maxillary development is very important, not only for your looks but overall health.

Do you have overjet? This is the same case I have. I have an overjet which makes my jawline look less prominent. Most probably see the dentist first, they might help you.

I could do just a paranasal implant, but then my teeth would still be recessed when I smile; bone movements are definitely superior to implants, but a combo of both would probably be best (a Lefort II or III would be insanely expensive and excessive in my case, and most places won't even do them unless you have serious facial deformities to begin with due to their invasiveness and high risk).

In some cases yes like if the nose appears too long etc on the face. But in cases like severely recessed maxilla it cannot help. Because if you get a rhinoplasty to increase the nose forward projection, it will slightly help but you will still have a noticeably recessed mid face.
