  • I had never seen one of these before but according to the sales notice:
'The hydraulic cable oiler, forces oil between inner and outer cables throughout their entire length leaving them silky smooth. For use on brake, throttle, speedo and choke cables for motorcycle, car, bicycle and lawnmowers that require regular oiling as part of their servicing. Easy-to-use and cleaner to service the most popular size cables up to 8mm. Avoids replacing cables that are worn or seized. Results in smooth operating cables.'
I am not a qualified flying instructor nor do I ever claim to be a very good pilot. I fly for fun and basically record for my own interest and review but upload because a number of people suggested that I should. I do try to edit for enjoyment and story telling and this means that some content is not always included.

Hi Tim, it was nice to see a little smile as you were coming into land. Nice job on the trimmer, it's always nice have something work correctly after a fault.

That cable oiler is a good bit of kit. Something still useful from a more industrial age, that doesn't need to have Bluetooth or a good wi-fi signal. I enjoy seeing old devices like those. The quick air test seems to have shown it all works well. Its is good that you've got a Duncan and a Rob on hand to help.

Always nice to have a smooth trimmer. I had a simular cable oiler back in the days, when I rode motor cycles.

Hi Tim, I had a similar problem with the trim on my D120 and oiling it helped greatly. However, the stiffness soon came back and further investigation found that where the cable went under the tailplane, a very short length of the outer cable had rusted almost through. The rest of the outer cable was in excellent condition.

Thank you for your reply. I will keep an eye out on the outer cable.
