For everyone that is concerned about the wellbeing of the fish, it depends. I live in China, and I visit markets like these to buy fish, hard scape and plants often. I suppose every market is different, and in each market there are different stores which take care of fish in different ways. Some have fish which live bad lives, some live good lives. I have seen stores that have goldfish in filthy tubs or tanks, black ghost knife fish kept in stressful high light conditions, and bettas in cups whose conditions that rival those in Walmart. On the other hand, there are also many fish who live in good, very clean conditions, like those barbs at 1:13. It depends on how each individual store owner/owners treats their fish and what they think about the animal’s rights. This is why we all need to be responsible keepers and buy only from responsible stores, and maybe even tell the “bad” stores what they are doing wrong. Sick music in the video btw.
Wow what an amazing video. Love the camera work-editing. Im just now getting into fish. Been a reptile keeper for 26 years. Sometimes you just have to try something new
Everyone that spoke on the crowding has been called a hatter, and told they are looking down on the Chinese, instead of realizing the obvious- there's way too many fish in those small tanks.
I recently visited and blogged Taipei Fish street...it was so crazy. It looked similar to this too!!! China and east asia is way ahead when it comes to stuff like this!!
This video makes me happy, finally Jimmy's magic touch on a China video. Love that you filmed this, and are sharing with us. Thank you. So much beauty.
Packed tanks but they make up for it with the water quality, only feel sorry for the axolotls becase they like dark and places to hide and they had bright lights on them :(
I am sorry but in Chinese mindset, you have to sacrifice something you hold on if you have no other options left. In this case,it will be sacrificing space for more fishes to sale.
So beautiful. I love that the tanks were all so clean. What made me a little sad were how cramped some tanks were in some markets and the ones kept in bags. I hope they were bought soon and go to a good home.
They change water everyday!!! So as those in bags. That's why the water you see so clean and clear. That may not good for fish actually, but the shop do have their way to keep the fish "looks" healthy. And think twice and check twice before buying bagged fishes.
Seeing all those axolotls made me so uncomfortable for them. I know the water is clean and all that, but you have to admit all the fish, not just the axolotls, are cramped. And axolotls can be quite aggressive with each other. It’s bizarre. Some of those ones have really small gills, too. edit: fixed a sentence for clarity.
Dude...they are selling fish, not keeping them in there as forever home. They are not doing charity work there so as long as the fish are healthy, they’ve done their job. Unlike Walmart and many Petco here 🙄
OMG, I always loved going to these markets when I was young, and they haven't changed! Is it in Guangzhou? If yes it's the one that me and my family went.
were i live we have the coolest fish store in one 300 gallom tank its for like 10 goldfish like bubble eyes orandas telescope butterfly and fantail. so much variety and tanks fully planted and their motto is something like 'fish deserve to feel home wherever they might be' basically saying even if you are in a fish store you still deserve to feel at home.
It's GuangZhou HuaDiWan. It's very easy to go if you are in GuangZhou. Simply go to a near by subway station and get on the train, then switch to line 1, take off at HuaDiWan station.
Alex Ruzgus actually in Hong Kong ,rent of a shop is around$5000000 Hong Kong dollar per month. I know some of the shops are truly treating the fish in humane for money, but usually it's because they need to save place for more species of fish. Every center meter matters in Hong Kong , and I hope people understand but not just bitching about China without thinking about others' thoughts(sorry if I offended ur little heart+I love my country too+sorry for bad English)
Yuxiang Jiang Understandable. In China there is overstocked fish, but their tank water is crystal clear, the fish are healthy, and they have bright colours! However in Petsmart, Petco, and Walmart, we got dirty tanks, dead fish in the filters, fish with diseases and Walmart's job with feeding the fish is absurd. In Canada, we actually removed the live fish section out of most Walmarts because of the unattended management on taking care of them.
I’m not really an aquarium enthusiast but I loved this video so much because I found it so soothing 😊 the fish are all so beautiful and you have used my favourite Chinese song in the background. I found this video randomly but I have subscribed and will be coming back here every time I feel stressed and need to relax. I hope after covid is over you can go back to places like this and show us 😊😊
Lots of households in Hong Kong and China own fish. It's a very very popular hobby. The popularity of the hobby in the US is very sad in comparison. Asia has a long long history of keeping fish.
I think this market is in hk (where i live) and the place is always CROWDED with ppl, like legit, smtimes i wonder why everyone has fish... but like @s said, asia has a long fishkeeping history (koi in emperor's garden, etc)
Chinese people (at least in my knowledge as I'm Chinese) love keeping fish due to reasons such as fengshui, where they are considered to be very auspicious pets to have, especially goldfish.
I was born in China and many tanks are very crammed but those are temporary. They are usually kept very clean, fish are sold very fast I think that’s probably why
Thanks for keeping the background music respectful. I've seen many vlogs in china where people use obnoxious music that's like filled with stereotypical gongs in a sincere way.

Id love tutorials on aquariums from the people that own this shop. The water is crystal clear and the fish all look happy and healthy.
Did anybody else hear that lady like 30 second in tell him to move out of the way? Lol
Because the car was coming. She was so nice to tell him that.
That was his wife
omg the way those gouramis were kept was absolutely disgraceful! They literally can't move a foot
Finally someone see this mis treatment the tanks are too small and crowed
They are temporary guys, they will move into (hopefully) better homes
Everyone that spoke on the crowding has been called a hatter, and told they are looking down on the Chinese, instead of realizing the obvious- there's way too many fish in those small tanks.
There gonna move to a different home, hell they’re still colorful and full of life so it’ll alright for the time being.
majority of the pet store in America have no idea how to maximize their aquarium water quality,
Their tanks are the cleanest part of China!
I thought it was a candy shop at 1st then I seen the headlines. Lol 😂😂😂mmm good fish
Same here 😂😂
I recently visited and blogged Taipei Fish street...it was so crazy. It looked similar to this too!!! China and east asia is way ahead when it comes to stuff like this!!
Jamie Wang haha, very funny.. 😂
And in Germany too
Thank you for bringing us out there!
The most amazing thing in the video was they managed to keep a colony of albino koi guppies alive.
This video makes me happy, finally Jimmy's magic touch on a China video. Love that you filmed this, and are sharing with us. Thank you. So much beauty.
0:40 that Karen just said move out of the way 😂
This is beautiful! Wow, they know how to take car of fish! And the setups are stunning!
Great video! I love China!
TheOnlyValken 😂 nice one!
Wow all are beautiful...love to watch
Packed tanks but they make up for it with the water quality, only feel sorry for the axolotls becase they like dark and places to hide and they had bright lights on them :(
I am sorry but in Chinese mindset, you have to sacrifice something you hold on if you have no other options left.
In this case,it will be sacrificing space for more fishes to sale.
They were also stored with some other fish which would most likely eat their gills .
Don’t expect much in any pet store. The fish are only there temporarily.
I could not be left alone in there
The #1 Kill Joy why?
He would probably go on a shopping rampage. I would too.
The #1 Kill Joy i
Wow nice fish market
Pm me for fish 👍
Some of those ones have really small gills, too.
edit: fixed a sentence for clarity.
go see axolotl in walmart full of poops abd sick
Dude...they are selling fish, not keeping them in there as forever home. They are not doing charity work there so as long as the fish are healthy, they’ve done their job. Unlike Walmart and many Petco here 🙄
@@user-qw9fq9vb5c my no one said walmart is better he just said they need a little more space from each other
Wow.... They really know how to take care of those fish! It looks so clean and organized! It seems so much more advanced than here in the US.
I have been there once, and those local experts told me those fish tanks furnish decorate are also affiliated with fengshui .
may i know where is the address of that,i wanna visit that market soon.
what's the name of this place
OMG, I always loved going to these markets when I was young, and they haven't changed! Is it in Guangzhou? If yes it's the one that me and my family went.
i love go to fish market when i was a kid on sunday.
Wow... mazing mr. i love it discus goodluck mr
Woah! Did I just see some Arapaimas?! Thanks for sharing :)
Indeed
Which one? In 0:05 it's Red Arowana. I believe it's from Indonesia or South East Asia.
That's crazy. I remember seeing 6-7ft arapaima at the Vancouver acquarium when I was a kid..
5:14
6:47 that discus is glitching out
were i live we have the coolest fish store in one 300 gallom tank its for like 10 goldfish like bubble eyes orandas telescope butterfly and fantail. so much variety and tanks fully planted and their motto is something like 'fish deserve to feel home wherever they might be' basically saying even if you are in a fish store you still deserve to feel at home.
Whoa this is an amazing show !!! Hello from San Diego
Wow those are some beautiful tanks 😲
Really cool. Reminded me of when I was at the Philippines.
I was trying to slow you down so I could get a good look.
Its a place where any aquarist would go crazy! Heaven in one word!
It's GuangZhou HuaDiWan.
It's very easy to go if you are in GuangZhou. Simply go to a near by subway station and get on the train, then switch to line 1, take off at HuaDiWan station.
No it's in Hong Kong
@@yugixxi9373 GZ
Awesome 😍😍
Omg I wanna visit that place!! I could spend my whole day just in that one spot lol. 🐟🐡🐳
I spent two days and still had more to see
SAK- SOON yeah but where is it in China
Green Life4 he showed clips of Hong Kong so I think it's hong kong
Federico Widder maybe
Federico Widder Don't think it's in Hong Kong, the signs were all in Simplified Chinese.
Your camera picture quality is off the charts! Wow... What a vibrant culture. I love when people share their journeys. Gorgeous footage! Tysm!
👀😵wow...! ! ! Thank you for sharing 👍😄💞👍!
Poor fish
Alex Ruzgus actually in Hong Kong ,rent of a shop is around$5000000 Hong Kong dollar per month. I know some of the shops are truly treating the fish in humane for money, but usually it's because they need to save place for more species of fish. Every center meter matters in Hong Kong , and I hope people understand but not just bitching about China without thinking about others' thoughts(sorry if I offended ur little heart+I love my country too+sorry for bad English)
Yuxiang Jiang u mean us has no rent problem but still small tank for big amount of fish? O wow
Yuxiang Jiang still doesn't change the fact
Yuxiang Jiang never said that poor financially I said I feel sorry for the fish no room
I hope after covid is over you can go back to places like this and show us 😊😊
Addicting!!!!!
I have been to the aquatic market in guangzhou many times, where the fish are super abundant.
And the fish are super beautiful.
Just out of curiosity could one go there, purchase fish and let's say dragon stone for example and have it all shipped back to America?
I dont understand how they have so much...does every single household have an aquarium? How would you ever choose with THAT MANY options
Most houses are small and I read in other comment that people would give them to their children when they get old enough.
Fish and water element both represent good fortune, prosperity, and abundance in feng shui. Chinese people believe in feng shui.
Chinese people (at least in my knowledge as I'm Chinese) love keeping fish due to reasons such as fengshui, where they are considered to be very auspicious pets to have, especially goldfish.
Too Beautiful collection of Fishes ❤️❤️
As an aquatic specialist, I know those tanks r stressfully overcrowded, but I love how clear n clean their tanks r ♡
I was born in China and many tanks are very crammed but those are temporary.
They are usually kept very clean, fish are sold very fast I think that’s probably why
Do u know where was that in video dude?
It’s nice to see such a god of fish keeping feel happy of other fish tanks
Thanks for keeping the background music respectful. I've seen many vlogs in china where people use obnoxious music that's like filled with stereotypical gongs in a sincere way.
I THOUGHT THE THUMBNAIL WAS CLICKBAIT!!!
I thought the same
just WOW!!! you know the feeling of a child entering a huge toy store.. that feeling man.. whew!
Water changes must be fun in that place.
