  • Hot ticket this trip was +250g vertical jigs with minimal glow during the night. And 25# - 30# fly line during the day!
    We still recommend bringing a 50# Colt Sniper set up and a sinker rig set up as well.
    It helps to have multiple set ups rigged and ready for whatever style of fishing presents itself!
    Hope you all enjoyed this video! thank you all for watching!

    • @Dirty.Hookers
      @Dirty.Hookers  Год назад +1

      You pay per tuna you get cleaned.
      You have the option of Filleted, Gilled and Gutted, or whole.
      Or you can also set up a reservation with a processing place, to have them professionally fillet and vacuum seal all your fish for you and they charge per pound of the whole fish weight

    congrats Ray on 10k! you said the 60-130 was to stiff, would you had preferred the 40-100 hybrid rod instead? i pulled on one and it felt like an 80 pound rod.

    • @Dirty.Hookers
      @Dirty.Hookers  Год назад

      Really good question. I actually would much rather fish the Axis Rail rod. It’s not the weight rating that made it too stiff, the Black Diamond Hybrid just happens to be too stiff of a rod.
      Axis has a glass tip and is a bit more forgiving on the body while fighting fish

    Very informative video. Not trying to be a hater, but when did 20-100 lb bluefin become standard? It seems like the bluefin are getting fished out and next year will be even worse, like this year was compared to last. I dont really know much about tuna, but I always rhought one to two hundred was considered acceptable and anything less was small.

    • @Dirty.Hookers
      @Dirty.Hookers  Год назад +2

      Here on the west coast / Pacific Ocean, bluefin tuna don’t get nearly as big as the east coast / Atlantic bluefin.
      80+ lbs here in California is a pretty respectable fish, and 150-200+ lbs is a fish of a life time.

    • @Dirty.Hookers
      @Dirty.Hookers  Год назад +2

      The number’s definitely aren’t like they were last year, but last year the water was much warmer very early on in the season.
      This year the water is taking a long time to warm up, which has made the offshore scene kinda have a slow start

    I may have seen you last night! 😅 I was on the Thunderbird 1.5 day (Mon 7p to Tues 7p). We were the last boat to join the fleet early Tuesday morning when the fleet was posted up around San Clemente.
    All I got to say is... never go out on the Thunderbird. Most unprofessional crew I've ever seen. Rudest cook ever, deckhand gets mad at you if you speak English, lots of "VIP's" on the boat, entire crew stoked we got skunked on tuna so that they did not have to filet, restrooms a mess, and wherever we did find fish the captain drove us off it shortly after to find more fish 😡😡😡
    I'll consider booking with the Highliner next time.

    • @Dirty.Hookers
      @Dirty.Hookers  Год назад +2

      Dang I’ve never fished the Thunderbird before, but always wanted to.
      I will say Jeff is a great tuna captain, if he was leaving fish it was most likely to find a better school that would bite.
      Some schools no matter how good they look, just have lock jaw.
      But yeah man, come on out with us sometime this season! Always worth jumping boat to boat to boat in order to find your favorite!
