One great thing about being 60. Saw Randy twice doing his Hendrix tribute when I was a teenager in the 70's. Buddy Miles could have been lead vocalist in any band. Probably was $6. He is amazing.

And his vocals are awesomely close to Jimi's!! But that could be due to the possibility that he's simply related to Jimi. And since Jimi is aristocracy it would make perfect sense if Randy also hails from the aristocracy, since all aristocrats are closely related.

Bar none the best Jimi impersonator, he plays like Jimi, his voice is like Jimi, he also spent time to learn the philosophy behind Jimi music and why he was playing in a certain way, not just a mechanical replica. There is a cool interview at the Jimi’s memorial with Randy and his Tour Manager, they are two genuine guys who love what they’re doing. 🙏

I just don't know what to say! I'm listening to this and swear it's Jimi! Buddy must be saying to himself this is 1969! Jimi was just so creative at that time and his paradigm still lives in so many minds. You can't say this music is gone because it's old, it's only old in the younger minds, but underneath the world's melancholy, it still resonates because it's feeling, its soul, and it speaks of a time where music was so creative. I know because I played in rock bands of the time and Jimi was King and even though many didn't understand, I knew, his music his playing would live on forever!

They played together in 1984 as 'Return of the Band of Gypsys' with Mr. Tommy Saunders on bass. That was excellent too, but I think I like this set better. It's fantastic to consider that spirit energy may have passed via Mr. Miles to Mr. Hansen… I suspect that many thousands of hours of practice and performance coupled with genuine passion are the real key, but who knows…

Been listening to Randy now for about a decade. I just discovered this gem from 1997. Dude never ceases to amaze me. So freekin' pleasurable to listen to. Randy exudes respect and honor to JMH with every note he plays, every movement he makes, every breath he takes, every snarl, smile, and twitch of a muscle. Simply amazing. I've run out of superlatives so I will end this post with a very serious question: I'm not at all schooled in music or music theory, but I'm wondering if I heard a tribute to Eleanor Rigby at approx 42:18 or 42:30. (Can't remember exact time) Yes?? Please reply. Thx.

He always did. Although I have great respect for Mitch Mitchell and his undeniable technical proficiency and talent, Buddy had the groove and the solid timing, and brought so much more to the table. A man that makes a living off of another man's life work is not much of a man. There will never be another jimmy. Not this guy, not SRV or anyone else for that matter. Chicago ain't no fool.

Well Randy is just someone who paying homage but has never tried to make Hendrix songs his own. SRV also pays homage but he tried to hard to be jimi without being jimi. SRV is overrated randy is a cover there's a difference. I like SRV but people putting him over jimi r literally just blind, deaf and dumb. Randy plays jimi better and with way more soul then SRV ever did. But I agree 100% nobody will ever be jimi ever.

It sounds like wrong-headed thinking to me… no-one you see on screen is making easy money on that show despite having megatons of talent.

@@subzero308 SRV was being SRV doing covers of Jimi. He wasn't trying to be Jimi. He was putting his slant on Jimi.
Randy is a tribute act, and just happens to be exceptionally good at it.

Ever hear of flattery or blandishment, or simply honoring someone you feel is worthy? C'mon, man, this guy is showing r-e-s-p-e-c-t in a most respectful way. I really don't think he's thinking about "making a living" off of Jimi's music.
