- In this video, CanAm Dan shares the dealer fix for the infamous drive shaft vibration problem that CanAm machines have been experiencing. He added an additional fix from the online community that also helps a ton! While doing this, he found a vendor that provides a kit to install bolts so you don't have to drill out rivets to remove your skid plate - instead just remove the bolts!

Great video! Thanks for sharing.
Thank you!
Thanks for sharing this video. Quick question: How long is the rubber sleeve for the driveshaft?
I believe it is 3' long
Thanks for the reply. Sorry but I have one more question, in your video you say 1 5/8 hose, but when I look up the par number you provided it's a 1 3/4 hose. I just want to make sure I get the correct size hose. My 2022 commander max xt is in the shop right now awaiting the new driveshaft. Thanks again for the video.
@@user-wo2yy6pm1m I apologize, I made the mistake in the video. The PN shown is correct (1-3/4")
@danemery7228 thanks for the quick response. I will be ordering.
Thank you for sharing, my commander is currently waiting for the parts to arrive at the dealer for this tsb. Do you know if your dealer used an adhesive to keep the rubber sleeve in place?
Thanks for watching! I'm going to defer to Can Am Dan for this one! He will reply with the details.
Thanks for watching, no need for adhesive as it is very tight and needs lubrication to get it on.
@@danemery7228 Thank you for the quick reply. Really looking forward to not hearing this anymore.
What length is that hose? Also how do you remove the rivets for the skid plate? I started that process today and those things are a pain in the neck.
It is 3' long, and yes the rivets are a PITA to drill out and replace. Incredible amounts of drilling. I used a good sharp 3/*' bit and it worked pretty good. If the rivet starts spinning you need to jam a sharp screwdriver behind he flange to give it enough tension to not spin.
Question - whether you drill out or sheer off the stock rivets, doesn’t a portion of the rivet then remain in the closed frame rails?
Hi! Yes the back side of the rivet stays in the frame. Hopefully will eventually fall out on the trail. Thanks for watching!
My 2024 max has the vibration between 4200 and 4800 RPM.
Ben, make sure you have the dealership warranty the bulletin for sure
@@danemery7228 supposedly it has the latest update
How long is the water hose so I can cut to size.? Just to confirm it’s 1-3/4”. Not 1-5/8”?
Thanks for watching! it is 1-3/4" and if I remember correctly 36" long is what I used.
What size are the nurserts and bolts used for the skid plate?
I used a kit from MarqCad engineering. They are 6mm nutzerts. Close to 100pc to do all the skid plates on a max. Bought the Harbor Freight nut zert tool. Would suggest getting the long handle one for better leverage.
Any chance you know what the specs are for the gen 1-2 outlander rear drive shaft splines. I’d like to buy the correct gear cutter. And make my own drive shaft
Sorry I don’t but that would be killer to do!
@@ogcanamdan I couldn’t find any info. So I ground a profile out of hss. And made one on the lathe. Worked out perfect and nice fit. Better than factory
That is awesome! Well done man!
Do you know if this service bulletin only covers the 2023? I have a 2022 Commander Max XT that has had this issue since day one. I contacted can am and they said it doesn't apply to my unit and they refused to tell me what that bulletin covered. Getting the run around from Can-am it seems like.
@jacelarsen9834 There is a Can Am service bulletin for all the max's no matter what year. Tell your dealer bulletin #139860 "SSV 2021-2022 Commander Max/Maverick Sport Max Driveshaft noise repair"
great thank you for that info! Why wouldn't CanAm just tell me that? I gave them my VIN number and asked if there was any recalls or bulletins and they said no.. I talked to my dealer after that and they told me to bring it in and they would take care of it and deal with CanAm @@ogcanamdan
@@ogcanamdan my dealer just said he sees the bulletin but that I am out of warranty on my 2022. The warranty was for 6 months from date of purchase and there wasnt even a bulletin then. Is the bulletin for all 2022?
That is crap! The service bulletin is for your machine whether it is in warranty or not. Find another dealer or report them to CanAm for not performing the service.
My 22 max has the same issue
Make sure you get your dealer to get the service bulletin prop shaft upgrade. Mine still has a slight rattle but only and very slow speeds.
No need for the sleeve just drill and tap the yoke for a set screw on one side and a grease fitting on the other side.
