I have a bearded dragon. I have a front opening tank that I built myself. One time I accidentally left the tank open and came back a half hour later and my lizard is still chilling in the same spot just staring at the open door. He nearly gave me a heart attack
Great video. It's funny, I just watched this with my ball python, Monty on my lap! If I swap out the fat-tailed gecko with a leopard gecko, I've got all of these and they are all great cuddle buddies. Definitely love the heavy bodied snakes for cuddles, and who doesn't like swaddling a giant lizard like a baby? I bet I could get a wild tegu to snuggle with me...🤣🤣
@@davidjager23 I'm sure Adam is referring to comparable sized real-life snakes - BCs, younger retics/burms, etc. Dumerils would pretty easily outmatch any snake of similar thickness. Relative to their size, king snakes are stronger - but they're itty-bitty. An adult Dumerils can generate PSI - several times that of burms or a retics many times their size, and more than double that of a full grown boa constrictor. Good thing they don't get too long to be dangerous and are naturally pretty docile, eh?
Love that you talked about how all reptiles are individuals and there are exceptions to your experiences! I have a ball python named Otis, and the second you take him out of his enclosure he is instantly on the move. Also love that you showed appreciation for normal ball pythons,...they are beautiful.
I had a Uromastyx that was really chill. I could pick him up whenever I wanted and he never acted defensive. He was like a bean bag with a spikey tail. I have a bearded dragon now and he's a bit more feisty than my Uro was. But both are pretty chill. Top of my least chill list would be the green iguana I had. That thing was psycho.
Murphy's law. Been looking forward to interacting with that Tegu you wanted forever... brumation. I got a nice new enclosure for my beardie and she decided it was time to brumate after moving her...sigh. Temps and everything all good, it was freaking me out until I saw a bunch of people's beardies were brumating.
I love chilling with my BP while I watch youtube or play games. Usually he's chill until he's like "I must explore the room now, Mother." And stares at me till I let him out when he wants out.
So you finally have your Tegu! Everything I've heard about them agrees with you IF you train their food response. Best video on that is probably the one on Clint's Reptiles channel.

😂🤣 Adam you’re killing me in this video lmao. “DU”merils boas.
I wish my ball python would just sit there on my lap whilst I watch a movie haha he is so energetic and confident he never stays still
keep working, they will!
My Schneider skinks always go straight to the top of my head😂
Same! So cute eh
Watching every video untill i can get a ball pyhton next summer of next year because I'm moving to a place where they are legal ^-^. I've done two years of research and i keep doing more and more everytime i have questions so I'm prepared to have one.
thanks so much for watching!!
pls pls insert more vine-type memes because honestly i'm livin for it
My 6 month old tegu is awesome I can handle her no problem I trained her to when I put my hand in the enclosure she climbs up my hand onto my shoulder it’s really cool I recommend them for anyone that loves big reptiles
that's so great!
one thing that’s stopping me is the “grumpy phase” / teenager tegus. while i know as long as you handle them as much as you can, it’ll pass but have you experienced that?
