- The Best 4K 240Hz OLED - ASUS PG32UCDM Review
ASUS recently released an update to their QD OLED monitor which greatly improved the HDR capabilities of the monitor, but with so many other 4K OLED monitors on the market is it really worth the premium, or are you better off waiting for a cheaper option.

This is one of the few times where what I imagined you looking like before you showed your face lined up with what I was expecting lol. Love your analysis and take on displays
Hey bro, so what mode should I use the monitor? Gaming HDR?
Thanks
Bro how many videos are you gonna make glazing this monitor ? We get it 😭
It was so great I returned it.
Why? What was the issue?
@@AndreTheHunterwhere do I begin? The text clarity is still an issue. The HDR brightness is too low. Flickering is still an issue. Too expensive for what this monitor provides.
It's a great SDR experience, no doubt about it. But it's not a consistent HDR experience, and at this price that's completely unacceptable. These different HDR profiles are a joke too. Sometimes the true black looks better than the peak 1000 and vice versa.
Super inconsistent and annoying. Which is probably why I've seen nothing but open boxes of these OLED monitors.
@@DrakonR so which monitor are u going for instead
@@DrakonRso going off of your problems, I take it you'd probably like MiniLED better for now. The Neo G8 has what the these new OLEDs have, minus DP2.1 UHBR20
@hughjassstudios9688 only 1 model from Gigabyte has that. And should be the only one ppl are buying this late in the year
Correction: Most overpriced expensive 4K 240hz OLED monitor ever while having nothing to justified that price to be best from rest.
Hi the display guy
Thanks for this great video
I have a question which gpu will fit this monitor
The rtx 4090 or you have to wait for the next generation of Nvidia
for the rtx 5000 series
I would appreciate your response
@@YacovIchao8903 I'm running a 3090 and am enjoying it in Warzone, GrayZone, Manor Lord's and others. I bought the monitor with the intent of an upcoming 5090, but I was pleasantly surprised with my 3090. Depending on the games you're interested in playing, I think you have to aim for a 4080 super for competitive AAA titles and can probably run most games with the 4070 super. I don't think this price point makes sense for a GPU that costs much less than $800 at this moment.
@@Specialblend777 Ok thanks for the reply

@@aegontargaryen5730:53 he made a comment about the monitor chin.
Not sure what your talking about.
im gonna have to wait until next year to look at monitors now. I had been waiting for like 3-4 months to get one that was in stock and never seems to find them. I opted to buy the S90D since id get more use out of the tv. So far im really glad i went for the TV the picture and color is amazing. Maybe next years the monitors will be able to support brighter screens.
thx for the video
3:08, spot on script with the transition man!
Even if the display port will use compression, upscaling is supposed to improve with driver support yes? More of the new thing is good but also how to get more use out of the previous thing is also good.
I love mine so far it’s awesome
Any grey issue? Mine have some horizontal banding on grey in cyberpunk 😅
Good I bough this months ago 😎 review he did is pretty accurate 👈
@The Display Guy
Could you please create a video tutorial demonstrating the step-by-step process of updating to the latest version of the monitor, which includes Dolby Vision? Thank you for your time and consideration.
who makes the design for these stands? An 8 year old? Looks like an UFO is about to fly off
Should've use the same stand as the XG27AQDMG
I can’t stand with the notch under the screen for your company logo 💀
and takes too much space. I like old asus stands and new samsung G80SD stand
Fly off the desk lmao
@@adrogrossz I have another ASUS with the same stand. When I picked this up, I threw it on an arm, immediately.
How does the perceive HDR brightness compare to the C4 42”
That chin though, an affront to good design principles...
I’m getting mine tonight. I’m ready to melt my retinas
Have you tried the Samsung G80SD?
I got this for $400 off so pretty pumped today, question is it bad to put brightness at 100? is 90 okay? i feel like below 90 just gets a bit darker
how did you get it $400 off? was thinking of buying one. would instantly if i could get it $400 off.
@@SupplyNinja took the risk on a bestbuy open box in Canada. Literally no damages, a tiny fingerprint amount which is gone now lol. Eveyrthing else was sealed still no issues at all
NVIDIA needs to get off their ass and fix their DSC implementation.
Or just buy the gigabyte fo32u2p and soon you can get rid of DSC entirely with dp2.1
@@De-M-oN I did just that, unfortunately the F032U2P doesn't have a disable DSC option, so I won't be able to use DLDSR until either Nvidia fixes their stuff or I upgrade to a GPU with DP 2.1 which is a bummer, I'd be perfectly happy to play my story games at 120hz maximum if it meant I could use all RTX features.
@@De-M-oN Yeah it comes with a 1 meter cable in the box LMAO
@@De-M-oN Is Glossy?
@@KingBerryBerry glossy with anti-reflection layer.
Its glossy, but a LG G3 TV is even more glossy. But dont worry. The glossy is still very, very good. Its just that a G3 TV is even more glossy 😀
I believe the Asus has this antireflection layer too.
Its only the TVs with completely nothing.
Only LG does matte for their monitors for some reason.
I have this monitor just disable VRR IN THE MONitor and select Scenery mode preset AND WOWWWWW Racin mode is great but SceneryMode the blacks are PERFECT AND MORE COLORFUL GAME PLAY 🔥🔥
What settings do you use in SDR?
VRR flicker is a big deal breaker. I'm gonna keep my IPS monitor until they figure out how to fix this problem.
easy solution: Dont use VRR. You wont notice screen tearing on 240hz anymore anyway. At least I dont
@@De-M-oN Without VRR there is 100% massive screen tearing....
@@drunkhusband6257 But on 240hz not visible at all for me anymore. The flickering though was.
@@De-M-oN Never seen flickering on any of my oled displays, you're making things up.
@@drunkhusband6257 It happens when VRR is on and the fps rate is swapping around below your refreshrate.
It was always there on the Quake Champions Loading Screen where naturally the fps is swapping due to the loading.
And it can happen on dark scenes with bright details on it - e.g. a night race with bright headlights. As long as you're stable 240 out of 240 nothing will flicker though. Its just on these highly swapping fps rates when it happens
Here in Europe it is so overpriced. I can highly recommend the G80SD. The „bad“ coating is really really good. So good infect, that my iPhone can still make a photo of the individual pixel and layouts while also it defusing the light. The best coating yet out of every new oled, including glossy and the 32gs95ux. (I know because I had a dead green sub-pixel on the G80SD and the picture I took of it is unreal. You can even see the shape of the pixel)
I mean, I currently have dual 32 inch 60 Hz refresh HD monitor for my set up. Yes it is a 1080P monitor and it’s a big 32 inch display so you could see the pixels. Definitely thinking about upgrading to a better monitor and this one was perfect because I did not want to compromise on the size of the display but at the same time I want a good quality display with high refresh rate. And this monitor fits everything 32 inches, 4K, 240 so high refresh rate. But the cherry on top is the fact that it’s an OLED which is a big deal because I can’t get over the fact that my main monitors for my main gaming PC set up are not sharp. And for other people, maybe they don’t really care or can’t even tell the difference but I could tell the difference due to the fact that I do daily drive a 15 ProMax, 23 M3 Max MacBook Pro 16in, 24 iPad Pro 13in, and an Ultra Watch. All these have OLED displays and definitely there’s a big difference between OLED and a regular non OLED display. But the price might be a little steep, but I’ll probably just buy one out of the two monitors and it will be my main monitor out of the 2.😊
I want to buy but I don’t like the Asia thingy at the bottom of the monitor (chin) is it possible to remove it?
I would like to see a side-by-side comparison with new Samsung OLED Odyssey G8 2024 vs this monitor with the new update so you can I would like to see a side-by-side comparison in gaming so I can see what one should i buy and see if Samsung has a true 1000 nit gaming
So which hdr mode do you recommend ? HDR GAMING OR CONSOLE HDR + BOOST ?
Neither always turn hdr off for best picture quality hands down...
@@drunkhusband6257 I never understood people saying this... When I turn HDR off, my games lose quality. I'm running a 3090 and play in 1440 with on monitor and 4K on this one. Help me understand.
anyone knows if there any drawbacks when using the 24.5" simulation mode? Apparently this feature in the LG monitor that uses the same panel as this monitor is not well implemented.
Was excited for this but availability was an issue and it's still not available in Europe glad i opted for the AORUS instead, sure it lacks some of the features like dolby vision butI have a good oled TV for that. HDR is alright but it really elevates SDR experience
Can I buy this for a Mac M2 Studio ( HDMI2.1 ) ?
Im afraid of their scaling system
How is the raised black (purple) issue with a lot of led ambilight behind the screen? There is no direct light source behind me but maybe the wall reflect the led lights at the wall behind the screen.
its massively overstated. its a non-factor in real world usage. unless you really try to induce it by literally putting a light directly infront of the screen.
I generally use my PC in a room with the lights off and the only way I've been able to even induce it is by shining a light on the monitor when the monitor is completely off.
when you are actually using it, I've never noticed it in real world usage.
It depends on how bright they are. Dim lights behind the screen likely won’t cause much of an issue.
Love my AW3225QF. The same display, better availability, warranty and cheaper price.
I just want better brightness in HDR and 10% then it'd be the perfect monitor aside from the blac levels (that I can live with)
I wonder if it'll be possible or even done.
If it weren't for the "Gamer Design" and lack of an Internal PSU, this model would probably have been my undisputed #1 QD-OLED consideration!
If you have affiliate links attached to the vid, it *is* a sponsored vid.

No it is not 🤣🤣
Can you summarize why get this display over the Gigabyte Aorus FO32U2P? it has no Dolby Vision but it has DP 2.1 and more small OSD features
The reason im probably going with this one is the gigabyte has an anti glare coating.
Sounds like OLED is just not quite there yet for monitors. Needs to be W-OLED or something better for text with a glossy screen, fix the flickering issues, and of course the brightness needs to be way better. Maybe next year.
Agreed amazing monitor. There are cheaper options with the same panel though. MSI and Alienware if you don't mind a curved display.
Gigabyte FO32U2P is better in my opinion.
I can use APL Stabilize in SDR Mode which makes the colors pop out much better
I can get soon get rid of DSC. Its annoying that a switch from desktop to exclusive fullscreen takes several seconds. I so much want to get rid of DSC. I find it really weird how Gigabyte is the only model which did build in DP 2.1. Why the others all have only 1.4 in it??
Please, guys, help me out I can't decide mostly because of the price difference between this or the MSI 32 mpg 32iurx
Which one, please 🙏 help
I do have a 3080 gpu so probably use them for 1080 until the 5090 comes out.playing cod
Talk smack about the LG 32gs95ue but I am enjoying the loving the crap out of it.
I never hear the fan go on. HDR looks superb!! ( I was playing Horizon Forbidden West and it looks amazing) and the matte coating is not much of a bother.
That is my person preference though. I am no screen expert.
In your tests, it seems like the cheaper MSI monitor is able to beat this more expensive ASUS monitor.
Am I the only one who loves this stand? lol 😅
Disappointed their Optical out does not support 5.1 sound only does stereo ….still have to use HDMI audio extractor with PS5 for 5.1 sound
1000nit mode? Are you saying this can do HDR1000? Be clear, I don’t think it is
If you want that, you need to buy a TV. e.g. the wonderful LG G3
@@p-Nitti it's a lot like the Samsung Neo G8 HDR2000 rating. 😂
You can‘t do a review without an inputlag Test . Inputlag thats whats we need.
i saw that also, my asus pg27uq is much brighter than this monitor, the new oled only stands out with contrast and clarity of dark spaces this is where it is a lot better.
Without a doubt the best gaming monitor I’ve ever owned.
when are we getting the settings ?
Thinking about the Aorus. Anyone here actually get their hands on it?
What is input lag on console 120hz?
They limited brightness because of burn in will be accelerated for monitors.
I’m between this and lg 42 c4.
Me too
As long as gigabyte display comes with do2.1 and much more then any other company and its the same price im going with them
Dp 2.1 isn't worth it rn the max size dp 2.1 uhbr 20 cable length is 3 ft

@@theheroofourtime3578 The cable length is a joke indeed. But I was able to connect it. But good thing is. When I have later a dp2.1 GPU I can finally have fast switch from desktop to exclusive fullscreen again. This several seconds black screen with DSC is really annoying

Neither. You're making a foolish decision buying anything but the Gigabyte DP2.1 model this late in the year
@@mz1929 mine should be arriving in a few days, perfectly happy to use DSC till GPUs support the new DP standard, and of course decent quality/length 2.1 cables are not even available, for the reason I think getting the ASUS is a decent option, but forward thinkers should probably go for the Gigabyte 2.1 version.

Why are the 27" oleds???? It seems like most of the new oled monitors are 32" or higher
Because you dont need 4k at 27"......

why didn't you mentoion the purple instead of black when it's bright

For the ones who claim they returned this monitor because HDR brightness is too low, im sorry to say this but you made a big mistake. All you had to do was adjust your HDR settings in-game.
