- ATTENTION! After removing the laptop bottom cover, please do not forget to remove the battery socket before working on the motherboard. It is highly recommended to avoid possible short circuits and other problems. I accidentally cropped this scene in the video.
Ryzen 7 7840HS, NVIDIA Geforce RTX 4060 Laptop, 15.6 FHD 144 Hz
I took out the smaller SSD and DRIMELED down the stand off for the m.2 screw. I then put in a Samsung 990 pro 2 TB in the same slot. The post/stand off is drimmeled / sanded down and does not bend the PCB board anymore. Works great!
why not just install it in the second and empty m.2 ssd slot ? and keep original drive, having two drives, more space.
2 TB? is laptop working properly after upgrade? Bcz Lenovo Tech Specs said, that available SSD is 1Tb maximum. I'm thinking about 2Tb SSD and looking for some proofs.

@@tim2758 I don't think there is a nvme limit on pretty much any computer between 1-2 tb that I know of. I'm almost sure it will work. My 2 tb worked, just grind down the stand off where the smaller drive was. I tried to unscrew it....seemd like it was welded! So I just grinded it down with a dremel a little so the 2280 would fit flush.

remember you should disconnect the battery first to prevent short that would brick your motherboard
I guess it's not obvious from the video. We loosened the battery cable so that it did not come into contact. Since there were cuts in the video, we did not record the part where we did this.

You can't install heatsink supported SSDs in laptops. Yes, slot 2280 is free. Lenovo's default ssd is 2242 size.
I switched from the Kioxia Exceria Plus G2 to the Samsung 990 Pro, and I can honestly say that there are no critical heat issues.

@@kronosgaminghd1869 You can't use SSD heatsink in laptops. It only supports SSDs with chips on one side. I'm currently using a 2 TB Samsung 990 Pro.

Merhaba, ssd değişikliklerinde ekran kartında performans değişikliği yaşanmaz. Tek etkileyeceği nokta yüklenme ekranlarındaki yükleme süreleri olacaktır. Birde ssd gerektiren oyunlar hddye yüklenirse takılma farkı oluşur. Onun haricinde ekran kartı performansına bir katkısı bulunmamaktadır.

i got a 2 tera ssd in mine and one ram32 gb the second one is broken and I will need a replacement but it will eventually have both 32 ram parts, the benchmarks on it went up a a bit but not sure the extra ram that big was that necessary it probably bottles down elswere to were I wont have the full potential from it.

Amdli olanın işlemcisi daha kuvvetli daha fazla fps veriyor oyunlarda.

Valla bende 2 sene kadar dayanmayı planlıyorum, sonra termal macunları yenilemek için içini açtığımda blokları sökünce haliyle termal padlerde hasar görebiliyor, termal pad macun vs alıcam baya kaliteli, kaliteliden kastım şuan ki fiyatlarıyla 400 liralık macun, iletkenliği çok yüksek termal padlerden felan, eğer blok ile temas ediyorsa termal pad termal macun bi şekil icabına bakıcam bakalım. Lenovo'nun servisine de sormayı düşünüyorum. Şuan tek sıkıntısı aslen o diyebilirim. Genellikle 70-75 geçmiyor işlemci ve ekran kartı sıcaklıkları.@@serhat.02335

You can choose any brand you prefer. You can install the RAM with the same CL and speed values up to 5600 MHz. I found Crucial 2x16 5600 MHz with CL46.

hey after opening the thermal module for thermal paste change my temps are 100c i applied 2 times now but still they are reaching 100c before they averaging around 75c to 80c while playing heavy gamesany solution?
Thermal pastes need to be reapplied when the heat pipes are removed. You need to buy and apply a new thermal paste. If the thermal pads are damaged, you should buy new ones as well. I can recommend Cooler Master Makergel Master as a thermal paste. It may be beneficial.
@@onurcil35 dont put too much on....just needs to be a THIN glaze. I leave A LOT of room on the edges with no paste....the paste will eventually melt and get closer to the edge...

I was using Kioxia Exceria Plus G2 2TB on my old laptop. In the video we are installing the kioxia ssd disk. I recently upgraded to a Samsung 990 Pro 2TB ssd disk and I am very happy with the PCI Gen4 performance. It reads about 7000 MB/s and writes about 6900 MB/s.

Aleyküm selam, valla cihazdan memnunum. Ram konusunda ise sodimm (laptop) uyumlu ram ise evet kullanabilirsiniz ama performansı düşebilir. 5600 Mhz'lik kullanmanızı tavsiye ederim. Trendyolun kendisinden aldım. Rgb aydınlatmalı klavyesi olan model. Stokları bitti gelmiyor artık.

Aynen ben de 4 bölge rgb tam olarak sizin model no.su ile eşleşen ürünü alacağım. Benim de bir Asus Tuf maceram oldu ne yazık ki 200 yorumda olmayan ekrandaki siyah şeritli karartilar bana denk geldi. Çok sağolun teşekkür ederim bilgilendirme için :)

You can buy any SSD you want that supports PCI Express Gen4. When it comes to RAM, you should choose DDR5. I installed 32 GB 5600 Mhz and it was confirmed to work. You need to try for higher capacities.
You can fit in PCIE gen 3 or gen 4 m.2 ssd
And ryzen 7 7840HS works up to 5600mhz DDR5 ram
You can fit in 4800 / 5200mhz but you will lose speed
Not that noticeable tho
But going with 5600mhz will bring out the best in performance and CPU usage

VRAM ısınma sorunu beyaz klavyeli olan modelde mevcut (Samsung VRAM), ama gerçekten ısınma mı belirsiz. Lenovo destek ile görüştüğümde termal kısıtlamaya girmiyorsa sensör yanlış sıcaklık bildiriyordur dediler. O sıcaklıklarda uzun çalışması yanmasına neden olur dediler. 110 derecelere kadar çıkıyordu benim. Ekranında leke olması nedeniyle iade ettim ben onu RGB klavyeli modelini aldım. (Micron VRAM) 75 dereceyi pek geçmiyor sanırım gördüğüm kadarıyla.
2280 SSD konusunda nasıl bir eğilme varmış gördüm diyemem. Herhangi bir SSD alırsan evet problem yaşaman yüksek. İki tarafında bellek çipleri olan ssdlerde mavi ekran veriyor sürekli. Laptop ince form olduğu için tek tarafında bellek çipleri olan ssdleri kabul ediyor. Kingston KC3000'i 2 kere amazon değiştirdi daha sonrasında forumlarda okudum bu olayı iade ettim. Samsung 990 Pro aldım problemim çözüldü. Sorunsuzca çalışıyor laptop hatasız.
@@onurcil35 çok teşekkürkler. Benimki de beyaz klavyeli model. Vram ısınma sorunu ilk günlere göre azaldı ilk aldığımda 110lara çıkıyordu şu an 92. Undervolt ile rdr2 ultra ayarlar 2 saat oynadığımda maksimum 82 derece gördüm vram'de. Gayet normal gibi şu an. Performans kaybı da %3 tam olarak.

There are slots with PCI Express Gen 4 feature. There are 2 inputs in my model. One has a 2240 1 TB SSD and the other has a 2280 2 TB SSD.
So I can put a faster SSD with more capacity?

Yes, you can wear it. We have a Gen4 supported slot.

According to Lenovo's official website, 32 GB RAM is confirmed to be upgradeable. RAMs over 32 GB need to be tested. It does not support SSD disks with chips on both sides. I guess there is no limit if you only wear one of the ones with a chip on one side. I am using 2 TB Samsung 990 Pro SSD and 16+16 GB 5600 MHz Crucial RAM

Ben 32 GB DDR5 bellek taktım. 64 GB hakkında bilgim yok, laptopta bir tane 2242 lik bir tane 2280 lik ssd slotu mevcut. Aldığınız modele göre 2242 lik slotta 512 GB veya 1 TB ssd geliyor. 2280 lik çoğunlukla her yerde kullandığımız slot boşta.

I don't know the Ryzen 5 model, but I think it probably easily supports 16 GB for each slot.
Can you recommended the ssd type used ? I have successfully replaced my ram. The default one is hynix China HMCG66AGBSA092N BA. I bought a same HMCG66AGBSA092N BA of hynix Korea from ebay. 1 2242 M2 SSD is installed. I installed a 2280 compatible M2 SSD into the second slot.
The SSD I installed is the Kioxia Exceria Plus G2 2 TB model.
Was there a pre installed dual channel ram on this system ?
16gb or 2 sticks of 8gb ?
It comes with 2x8 GB ram. I upgraded it with 2x16 GB.

Yes, the 2242 ssd is removable. On the 2280 ssd disk you can install the operating system as bootable. I am using a 2TB Samsung 990 Pro (2280) and I installed the operating system on this disk.

For the free slot, you need to choose M2 SSD with size 2280. Instead of the laptop's internal 512 GB or 1 TB SSD, you need a 2242 size M2 SSD for a different SSD.

What kind of SSDs? M2 slots only available. One entry is 2242 long and the other is 2280 long.

Yes, you can install 32 GB, since DDR5 is a new technology, most brands do not guarantee 32 GB and above as they have not tested it yet. At least the ones they guarantee are generally higher segment devices. I think I will try to buy and install 64 GB after a few years. I work with Android Studio and emulators. 32 GB is very challenging for me right now.

Yes, you can install a Gen4 supported Nvme ssd, there is an empty slot. In the video, I install a 2 TB NVME ssd.

Yes, 32 GB 4800 Mhz is compatible. I wish you had bought a 32 GB with 5600 Mhz. Since 4800 Mhz is a lower speed, your performance will decrease slightly.

i just installed the ram today priviously my geekbench 6 score for gpu was 25k approx after installing this 32 gb ram it jumped upto 65k approx

Yes, you can install gen4 ssd. I have a 2 TB Samsung 990 Pro. I installed the operating system on this ssd disk and I am using it.

1) İki slota da takabilirsin. Lenovonun kendi taktığı bölüm yalnızca 2242 uzunluğunda desteklemekte. Türkiye'de ben bulamadım şimdilik 2242 boyutunda SSD.
2) Diğer SSD slotuna piyasada yoğunlukla bulunan 2280 boyutunda ssd takılabilir. Yalnız unutmadan tek taraflı SSD destekliyor sadece. Çift tarafı bellek olan ssdlerden takarsan sürekli mavi ekran sorunu yaşarsın. Ek olarak DDR5 bir ram teknolojisidir. Ram yuvasına sadece DDR5 uyumlu ramler takılabilir.

@@rengarbotzz9003 Kral şunu diyeyim çift taraflı mı tek taraflı mı kendin bakman gerekecek. İncelediğin ssd diskin fotoğraflarına bakıp çift taraf bellek veya tek taraf bellek mi anlaman gerek, kısa bir yolu varsa da ne yazık ki bende bilmiyorum. :(

No, this cannot be changed if you are using the white keyboard variant. If you have the RGB keyboard variant, you can customize it however you want.

According to Lenovo, the highest tested capacity is 16+16 GB at 5600 MHz. They had said that if you need a larger capacity, you should test it. Lenovo Turkey had told me this. My requirement was 16+16 GB at 5600 MHz, and I have now installed it and it's working smoothly.

why is the original ssd so small? what type of ssd is that? can i place a regular size there?
The original ssd is 2242 in size. Normal SSDs are 2280 in size. And no, 2280 SSDs cannot be installed in this slot. You may need to find a 2242 size ssd.

@@MichelboufThe model I bought came with a 1 TB m2 SSD installed, so I installed an additional 2 TB SSD. I had a total of 3 TB disks.
@@MichelboufI have this machine and in the slot where the SSD 2242 is, it does support 2280, if you notice, let you put the screw in that length, there I removed the one that came from the factory and put a Western Black of 1TB, in the other empty slot it only supports 2280, in both the maximum is 4TB but lenovo recommends 1TB for each slot, Greetings Friend 👍

The empty slot supports ssd disks of size 2280. The slot where Lenovo installed the ssd supports 2242 size ssd disks.

How do I know which SSDs are compatible?
You can install a 2280 size gen4 supported m2 ssd into the empty slot. If you want to replace its internal SSD, you need a 2242 m2 SSD.

If you prefer ssd with memory on one side, yes you can use 2 TB. Some ssd disks have memory on both sides. These ssd disks cause blue screen problems.

@@garrymarpna5989 There can be memory on the front and back of the SSD memory. These are incompatible. Only SSD disks with memory on one side are compatible. For example, it could be Samsung 990 Pro.

I am currently residing in Turkey. Upgrading SSD and RAM does not void the warranty here. You can send it to the service for SSD or RAM upgrades.
