My video was 3/4 done about a month or 2 ago, so I just randomly decided to finish it yesterday, and I have 2 other videos ready because I'll be really busy with my university reopening (I'm a medical student). So talk about bad timing! I could post about your video once it's out if that's any consolation? 😭
@@lambilytunes You're right! But I felt like it was overused, and I didn't want to pick one of the DD tour dates since the audio was horrible. But that clip will be in my upcoming video thats a vocal battle between the 90s, 00s, 10s and 20s. Premiering in the next 30 hours or so.
@@edu.8552 Well, we don’t truly appreciate anything until it’s lost. Similar to how the value of art increases after the artist dies, we started to appreciate Mariah’s vocals only after it got worse in the next era.
@@RirixMimithe clip you used was actually an F5(she lowered the key a semitone) but yeah her original live performances of that song were in C# minor which had the F#5 belts. Honest mistake
Her highest supported belt would be G5 or F#5 (but the most supported and resonant would be F5) because her vocal cord closure is not that healthy compare to Whitney or Beyonce, which makes her ability of sustaining and loudness weaker, but her beautiful voice color makes up for this shortcoming.
Her vocal cord closure can’t be compared to any other artist since she has nodules, lol. But that doesn’t make her a worse or better belter than any of them. Since they all had roughly the same range in their chest voice during their primes. Mariah had the ability to go up to C6 in mixed voice!
@@RirixMimiThat is one of the things what makes her extraordinary. She did *all* she did vocally with a damaged instrument! Many mistaken a physiological hindrance for a technical one. The obstruction in full cord closure also caused her head voice to sound airier than most, hence why many wrongly think many of her head voice notes are falsetto. The seamless transitions in and out of it proves otherwise.
@ You’re right! Idk if I would call it “damaged” though, since it was just nodules (pimples on the vocal cords), but now there’s definitely scar tissue there.
@@RirixMimishe didn’t have nodules 1990-1996. That’s not what people with nodules sound like. She had them as a child and got them again post 96. It’s like saying Usain Bolt ran his records with a broken leg. Physically impossible
@ She openly said that the nodules are the only reason that she’s been able to consistently whistle. And she said this in the early 90s (that she never got them removed and kept singing through them). In the late 90s, her voice didn’t get worse due to the nodules, but due to her terrible lifestyle (3 hours of sleep, alcohol, divorce, stress, etc). So she sounded hoarse and dry because her voice was literally swollen (as a whole) and dry. And we see this again in 2005 where she visits her ENT-doctor, and he states that she needs to cut down on the promotional performances because her vocal cords are inflamed. No mention of the nodules. So the nodules are only half of the story.
@@TheBaritonoAssoluto Yes, the original key contains a G5, but she never attempted it live in that key. She also hit F#5 in this song in 2005, 2013 and 2016 besides Daydream.

She hits it at Club Tatou 1990.

Great Idea! I'll add it to the list of videos I'm making!

Where?

Those are still Eb5s in this key, unless she was sharp/off key in one of the attempts.
@rockerfeller2014 she didn't go sharp on tokyo?

We have the soundboard audio now and it’s an E5.
