LOL this reminds me of that one playoff game in Minnesota a few years ago, the Vikings scored a last-second touchdown out of nowhere and 20,000 people got an alert from their Apple Watch asking them if they just had a heart attack and should it call 911.
Please bring the hydro back Hyper! And I still thank you a million times for posting they were back in stock a while back! Mine is still going strong as well 👍🏁
WOW Kev! Congrats! 100k! Thats a one solid number! Awesome job. 😄 Rock on man! Dont ever change! I would like you to think for a while about some other sort of target in givaway.. Maybe next one? 🤔 Someone who cant really afford his own good MTB and would appreciate it a LOT. I was thinking about me 25 years ago. I was just that poor kid which has to run when other kids ride their shiny bikes. This is something I wouldnt want to see never again. A sad kid's face, 😔 because he/she made everything to bring back the dead bike found off the road one day, but it wasnt enough... Everything just was not enough.
Thanks. Due to the way things are right now I can’t do giveaways on the channel. The FTC implied those target kids, which isn’t the audience for this channel.
@@KevCentral Ive checked these rules, and its exactly how you described it. Yeah I do understand the interests and all but... dont you think this kinda sucks? Its like we (subscribers/followers/patrons) would MADE you do this only this way. Isnt it? This sounds crazy.. It has to be some wide context to it. Im sure it is but it still sucks...😔
@@KevCentral Anyway I happy for your 100k achivement. There was the need for your channel. The one that covers the cheap market bikes but not the typical one. The honest one. 🙂 ps I hope you will make an ultimate XC racing rig out of this carbon project!
Man i just got that epixon fork for Christmas for my schwinn protocol 2.7 and it was a game changer. Its a whole new bike now. Love the channel man you’ve helped me with a lot of info for my big box budget build. And i use budget loosely here lol. Keep it up man
Dude honestly the bikes you review i would never buy ever BUTTTT I love this channel and content. You just seem like a really nice guy with a super calming voice. Youre the man
Wow well done kev on 100k subscribers. This mile stone just reminds me how long I've been watching for. Let's hope you get your plaque very soon cant wait to see it.well done👍👍
I built this bike based on your videos a couple years ago and mine still holds up very well. I don't do much trail riding, only occasionally.... but it is my only bike at the moment and i have no complaints. I took all the stickers off and it's quite the head turner when I go out with it. People always ask what kind of bike it is and where i bought it. :D I send them to your channel.
Absolutely ecstatic to see you hit that clean 100k subs! You deserve every single one! Hope 2021 brings you much more joy and prosperity. Happy new year!!
Now THIS is a gorgeous bike. that awesome sleek blue color fits it perfectly! Which I could have entered the contest, but I refuse to use patreon. Now if you had a subscribe star. I would have used that. and congrats on 100K!
Kev, still have mine almost as fresh as it was when it was completed. Unfortunately I've been out of work and on oxygen now due to C19. But I hope to be well enough to try and get back out there this Spring with my totally upgraded every single part on my Hyper Hydroform....CONGRATS on 100K. Thats amazing and so cool. Happy to see the update as well. Can't wait for the next 100k.
Congrats on 100K! Let’s say bon voyage to 2020 and welcome the hope and expectations of a better New Year. Looking forward to new and exciting project bikes.
I have had the Hyper Hydroform since 2/19, and it's good bike for the price I paid, $155. I did replace the shock with the DNM, but 200mm, otherwise stock. This year I had a few part failures, rear wheel axle snapped, and later on, seat clamp snapped when riding. I lost one of the suspension bolts, because it backed out during ride. Hyper customer service was A+ though, they sent me a complete new wheel assembly in under a week, and also a new seat clamp also in under a week, at no cost to me for both parts.
Congratulations Kev good job! Happy New Year! 🥂 The bike is awesome, but those roots are tricky dangerous, be careful please. One of them, made my bike path a flight path.A year ago.
Love the finish! Really like what you've done with it. What a shame they discontinued the bike. Congrats on the milestone! Can't wait to see who wins the bike.
Some beautiful trails near you Kev. Kinda envious. Glad to see project hydro knocking around. Also thanks to your videos I've been recommending my brother wait til the 2021 aluminum comp hits shelves as it will be more than enough for him out of the box, and will give plenty of upgrade opprotunity if he wants to get more involved in riding. As for me? Been stuck with home projects so haven't gotten to ride like I should, but that has given me time to ponder upgrades for my bike. Namely what kind of tires to put on, if a suspension seat post is worth it along with grips and saddle replacement, and what ai could do to make my field rides more fun between now and when the rest of the fields open up. But definitely going to get better tires, that should make a huge difference over the base comfort/road style tires. Also considering the idea of an eight speed freewheel but that demands going with replacing the entire set. Which would be expensive for the money I have avalible. Maybe am upgrade for later. Looking for a proper huffy headbadge, because I plan on de stickering mine when the renovations and projects slow down, and I want a little class to my ride. Edit: also as of 7:13am my time (cst) youtube lists you at 100k subscribers.)
This has to be your best build to date... great job kevcentral. PS: I don’t care how built up a wal mart bike is, I’d never jump one or drop off more than 2ft lol. Peace.
After finishing a budget project a couple of weeks ago, I agree with you on two things: 1) There ain't nuthin' wrong with the IXF crankset. It installs easily and does the job. The blue looked nice, too; and 2) Advent rules. My 9-speed with drop shifters was easy to install and never misses a shift. It does, however, have its own unique feel. It's mechanical and clunky -- but sort of in a good way. You KNOW you are not riding Shimano.
Funny you brought this back. I was just thinking about this bike past weekend. Really want a cheap FS frame and build it, and not feeling that new explorer. It would great if hyper bring this back.
Can you upgrade the hyper explorer dual suspension the red one i think is a good project to see and compare the upgraded hydroform with the upgraded explorer red 29 and thanks for your reviews and videos keep it up
@@KevCentral I understand you I have seen people carry it even at 33 pounds I personally will take the project to modify the explorer has advantages such as the geometry the hydro has a geometric problem and it is the height from the center to the ground I (wonder what the diameter of the seat post will be the in the explorer) for something it cost more I don't understand why they put the steel triangle on the bike
I hadn't ridden in several years, then went out last summer to ride with a friend. We rode past a skinny on the way in and I thought it looked fun, but blew around it. We rode about 8 miles and I didn't have any troubles. We were booking it back to the truck when I saw the skinny through the trees as we were rounding a curve and I got cocky...until I realized there was a DROP on this end. I tried to stop and ended up going over the bars in a grand fashion! I have wrecked bikes many times, but seldom that hard and never at 46 years old! It took me forever to get over that! I have a video from my chest mounted GoPro on my channel, if you'd like to check it out.
I think you actually went with the 200mm DNM. I put a 190mm on and the linkage seems to be very close to bottoming out. Your’s still has plenty of clearance. I can’t help but feel extremely lucky to have found a hydroform by accident last summer! Thanks for helping me find some nice parts to upgrade it!
@00:09 - did you say Poison Oak vines? @ 05:55......regarding a FS robing power, can you lock out the rear suspension you installed, when pedaling up hill?
My most comfortable saddle is the stock saddle that came with my 206 Rockhopper. I'm still using that saddle and bike, the saddle the last original part on the bike.
Here's an idea for Hyper, bring back hyper hydroform!! But do a few changes!! - Make the frame more than one size!! Make it a 17", and a 19", and 21"! - Give it a 1 x 9 like your current explorer - Make the Headset Tapered! - fix the hyper explorer full-sus rear triangle to be a bit lighter/ better design like the old hyper hydroform. - keep the double-wall rims that are on the stock hyper explorer. - make the seatpost 350mm stock rather than a 300mm post! THATS IT!!! I will do upgrading on the rest! KEV CENTRAL, Thanks on the hydro update. Because of you and others, I bought the hyper explorer and upgraded the fork, brakes. Seatpost, and soon new pedals! Also ordered some clear tape for frame protection. The paint chips easy.
Congratulations on 100k!!!
I'm glad you cleaned it for filming, That Blue glows so well in the low light.

I really enjoy your enthusiasm about bikes in general. Hyper Hydroform is definately one big box bike that I would buy if it was brought back to us.
100k.....awesome videos will do that......great work Kev!
Great video. The Hyper Hydroform I built is what got me into mountain biking, now I've invested into more experience bikes. Thank you.
Congrats on hitting 100k🎉

You should try to put a dropper post on it. You could probably route the cable in the bosses on the top tube, and it won't look too bad. ;)
I've had my IXF crankset for about 4 years now. I've damaged the chainring before any problems with the crank.
I've had mine coming up on two years with no problem.

I likely won’t make that a target for upgrades due to the steel triangle, non replaceable hanger and narrow headtube

Yes, poison oak vines. Yep, but I don’t pull over and flip lockouts at each hill.
In PA, the main trail feature is the horrible roots, and on a hardtail, your feet bounce right of the pedals every 2 seconds.
